Demi Lovato’s Twister Moves line Features a Hula Hoop
Old Twister will never go out of fashion. Young people will always revel in falling on top of each other suggestively, while older people will always seek the thrill of coming within a razor’s edge of permanently damaging any or all their joints. But, just about everyone who wants to own Old Twister probably already does. Twister needs something new to stay with it, and so we have Twister Moves.
Twister Moves was unveiled over the weekend at the North American International Toy Fair, and is a set of dance games linked together by a digital tracker. For the most part, the games look pretty familiar. Skip-It is being brought into the fold as Twister Moves Skip-It. You’ll be skipping to a beat, trying to get the highest possible score, and it’s not much of a departure from the Skip-It your preteen self is familiar with.
The hula hoop is also getting appropriated. The Twister Moves Hoop is your standard hula hoop, with a digital tracker attached that keeps score. That’s pretty sweet, I guess, because trying to keep counting while hula hooping I think is a big ask for most. Hula hooping takes a lot of concentration.
The real party game is going to be Twister Moves Hip Hop Spots, which takes cues from
. Instead of stomping on arrows, you’ll be stomping on Twister dots according to color prompts, which follow the beat of the track playing. Two players can go head-to-head, with moves and scores tracked. Despite the sounds of it, this isn’t a video game—it’s a standalone game.
So, that’s a lot of keeping score. Where do all those scores go? They’re all brought together by the Twister Moves Tracker, a little device that keeps a running tally of your score and number of moves across all three Twister Moves games. It’s sold separately, though, so if you’re not much for keeping score, you can just walk on by.
The Twister Moves line will debut this spring, with only Twister Moves Hip Hop Spots coming later, scheduled for a fall release. Twister Moves Hoop and Twister Moves Tracker will sell for $15, while Twister Moves Skip-It will retail for $20. Twister Moves Hip Hop Spots will cost $25.
