Bonnie and Damon are not a realistic couple to me. There have not been enough evidence to prove to me that they could actually love each other. Whereas with Damon and Elena you can see how much he loves her and how much she cares for him just by reading the books(especially Nightfall)
Besides L.J said herself that there are good news for Delena fans. I believe the exact words were:

I'm with you Lizz. I mean Bonnie/Damon are not THAT bad but they lack something that Damon/Elena have. It's not the same... and Donnie is not nearly as good.

Bonnie and Damon are the WORST couple in history. They dont fit each other, and it would be SO out of character for Damon to want Bonnie that it would practically kill Damon's character if LJ Smith put them together.

Bonnie is a weak character, she cries a lot and Damon is a strong and fiery man/vampire, who needs a woman just as strong as himself, which is Elena.

I do like Damon and Bonnie but I think you're right MissDK. It would be out of character for Damon to choose Bonnie over Elena but you never know... if he's desperate and Elena has chosen Stefan...

Phoebe_Gabriel, I dont like the idea of Damon being desperate and going for Bonnie if Elena chooses Stefan, because that is SO not my Damon. My Damon is a proud man / vampire who walks away if he is being rejected for the final time. He wont just take a consolation prize as being 2nd best. Damon wants Elena and only Elena and if he doesnt get Elena then he doesnt want anything else. And he will walk away. That is much more in character for Damon in my opionion. :)

Damon and Elena are the best couple but you know what i think would be interesting and get Stefan and Elena out of the picture as a couple ..... if Stefan and Bonnie got together!!

In all honesty, I am intimidated by them. Because they have as much chance as Delena being the end pair. With Damon supposedly said to be closer to Bonnie when he 'becomes human'. And Bonnie said to have a change of heart regarding vampires…So it's kinda nerve wrecking, I don't hate Bamon fans, just like we are, they are defending their right to ship characters who have as much possibilities as our pair to be the end pair. But then again, I'm scared...cause L.J is giving us another possibility of Bamon fans gloating in our faces…I can’t handle gloaters -.- I just recently got out of rehab cause I could handle a gloating fan LOL jk.

If you read the summary for the last book in the series (2011 release) it gives you an idea that Elena will be torn between them. I think if she loves them both equally it will give both Stefan and Damon an equal chance of being with her....although I hope she ends up with Damon because he's more exciting.

I mean, what's the point in her having them if she can't defend herself? Maybe if L.J. had written her as a sweet character, with a steely, 'don't mess with me' side, I might have liked her a bit better, but no-one can be that naive and 'innocent' all the time. I couldn't say that I hated Bamon, because that would be too strong a word, but I don't think much of them at all.

In the books there is a good chemistry between Damon and Bonnie and I like Bonnie much more than I like Elena in the books. But as I prefer the tv show there's no way for Bamon. It has to be Delena!
