I'm gonna say that they mean closer in a romantic way. But I'm also gonna call bullshit on that spoiler. Almost positive it's fake.

I think that its just someones opinion on y Damons reason for becoming a human again in the first place. I remember lectura this comentario on another board, but it was just another persons comment, not a spoiler. Im 100% sure this is false cuz Ive read most of the hints/spoilers & speculation & whatnot so far about Midnight with Damon getting closer to Bonnie, but this was never mentioned.

LJ Smith probably just chose to make Damon become human accidentally, so that Stefan couldn't become human. Then, both Stefan and Elena would have been human together uggggh. I think that things are being set up más so that Bonnie will be with Matt anyways, not Damon.
