Hope College
One of the most distinguished institute of higher education in downtown Holland is the Hope College. It is a private, residential liberal arts college located a few miles away from Lake Michigan. It was established in1851 as the Pioneer school por Dutch immigrants four years after the community first settled. In 1862, the first freshman college class matriculated and four más years later, Hope received its state charter. This college is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America and it boasts of a vibrant Christian Atmosphere.

The Hope college campus is spread over an area of 125 acres and is shared with the Western Theological Seminary since 1884. Over 3600 undergraduates are currently enrolled in this institution.

Academics:

Hope College offers más than 90 majors under Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, o Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. Like mentioned above, it has a student population of about 3600 and the student to faculty ratio is 12:1.
The college also provides off-campus programs in several other cities including Philadelphia, Washington D.C and Chicago. It also offers overseas programs for the summer, one semester o one academic year.
Hope College has strong ties with the Reformed Church in America and combines a rigorous academic education with the historic Christian Faith while educating its students. The college divides its courses into five disciplines which are:

•    General Education
•    Arts and Humanities
•    Natural and Applied Sciences
•    Social Sciences
•    Pre-Health Programs

Campus:

Hope College provides on-campus residency in 11 residence halls, 15 apartment complexes, and más than 70 houses o "cottages". A very small percentage of students take up off-campus residency. Most of the students come from the states of Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, New York, Ohio, Wisconsin and Minnesota. About 2 percent of the student body comprises of international students.

Several campus events are conducted on the Hope College campus throughout the año featuring prominent authors, speakers, scientists, and global leaders. For eight years straight Hope college has been listed among the "101 best and brightest companies to work for in West Michigan" survey of the Michigan Business and Professional Association.

Athletics:

Hope college currently fields 20 men's and women's varsity teams. It also competes in the MIAA conference and is a Division III member of the NCAA. The college encourages sports and has built several new outdoor athletic venues in the reciente years. The school colores are blue and naranja and the athletic teams are called the Flying Dutchmen (men) and the Flying Dutch (women).
