Chapter 2
As soon as they arrived in Chicago, Angela and Brennan drove their rental car over to visit Mr. Schneider. They were greeted at the door por a rotund older man who was grinning from ear to ear upon seeing Brennan.
“Oh I am so happy to see that tu came to the reunion, we have so much to catch up on Temperance. “
As they followed him into the house, Mr. Schneider kept talking about the reunion and how glad he was to see Brennan. He was not giving any time for either one of them to ask him any questions.
Finally as they sat down, Brennan introduced Angela and then said. “I read your note tu sent and what is it that tu wanted to see me about?”
“Oh Temperance it was just an idea that I would like to visit with tu más than we have in the past but now is not the right time to talk. I know tu want to get to the hotel and settle in before the cóctel, coctel party tonight.” Mr. Schneider dicho very nervously. He was quickly glancing around the room as if there was someone else there.
Angela could see that he was very agitated and did not want to talk right now but Brennan was not aware of his uneasiness. She just kept looking at him quizzically and was starting to ask another pregunta when Angela interrupted.
“Your right Mr. Schneider, we have had a long flight and need to get ready for tonight. Are we going to see tu tonight at the party?”
“Oh of course I will be there and I am looking adelante, hacia adelante to seeing tu there. I do hope that tu brought your husband with tu this time, Temperance.”
Brennan looked at him with a surprised look on her face and was about to correct him when Angela quickly said. “Yes, her husband is coming in later tonight along with my boyfriend. They may not make the cóctel, coctel party but they will be here this weekend and maybe we can all get together at another time.”
“Great. Looking adelante, hacia adelante to it, now I know tu two girls must be getting to the hotel. It was wonderful seeing tu again Temperance; tu have always been one of my favorito! students.”
As they left the house, Brennan turned to Angela and asked. “What was that about, he knows I am not married and why did tu agree with him?”
“Sweetie, didn’t tu notice how nervous he was. It looks like something is very wrong. I think he mentioned a husband because he was looking for Booth. As tu dicho he knows that tu are not married and I’m sure he knows that tu are partners with Booth who works for the FBI. I think it was his way of asking tu to get Booth here.”
“Angela, I’ll call Booth but I don’t know what to say to get him to come here.”
“Brennan all tu have to say is that tu need him and he will be here for you.”
As Angela drove the car to the hotel, Brennan called Booth and asked him if he could come to Chicago. She told him which hotel they were at and she would explain everything when he gets here.
“Is Booth coming?” Angela asked.
“Yes. He dicho he would be here tonight. It is almost as if he knew I would call him.”
When they got to the hotel, Angela quickly called Jack to see if he would come with Booth and learned that they were already on their way. He also told her he had booked a room for them and that it was under his name.
As they approached the hotel registration desk, they could see a number of people with name etiquetas talking in a group. One of the women looked at Brennan and quickly whispered to another one. Then the segundo woman said. “Temperance Brennan is that you?’
Brennan looked at the woman and seemed surprised that the woman had dicho anything to her. “Yes.”
“Temperance tu may not remember me but I was Peggy Walters, but now I’m Elizabeth Jameson. I am surprised to see tu here at the reunion. tu and your friend must come and registrarse our group tonight. All of the old gang is here and they would amor to see you.” As she dicho this she quickly walked to follow the others outside before Brennan could answer.
“Who was that, Brennan?”
“That was one of the popular girls when I went school. She did not even like me then and don’t understand why she wants to talk with me now.”
“Well don’t worry about it now let’s just get our rooms and make some plans for tonight I’ll check us in while tu check in at the reunion desk.”
As Brennan walked to the reunion escritorio in the lobby, Angela went to the hotel registration desk.
The clerk behind the registration escritorio asked. “May I help you?”
“Yes there should be two reservations, one for Temperance Brennan and another for Jack Hodgins.”
“Yes, we have both reservations and each reservation is for a two person suite.”
“Can the rooms be on the same floor and close together?”
The clerk looked at his computer for a moment and answered. “Well we can put them on the same floor and siguiente to each other if tu would like.”
“Yes that’s fine. I am checking in for myself, Angela Montenegro and for my boyfriend Jack Hodgins and for Temperance Brennan and her partner, Seeley Booth. Dr. Brennan is at the reunion escritorio right now. “ Angela pointed to Brennan and quickly turned back to the clerk and said. “Jack Hodgins and Seeley Booth will be coming later, tonight.”
As Angela had dicho that she was Jack Hodgins girlfriend he made note that one room was for Jack Hodgins/ Angela Montenegro and since she had dicho that Seeley Booth was Dr. Brennan’s partner he noted the other room was for Seeley Booth/ Temperance Brennan. He also made note that Jack Hodgins and Seeley Booth will be coming in later this evening. He then handed the keys to the rooms to Angela.
Angela then joined Brennan at the reunion desk. She could see that Dr. Brennan was asking about the activities planned for this weekend. The person behind the escritorio was telling her that tonight will be the get reacquainted cóctel, coctel party and tomorrow there were various sports activities planned with a barbeque later in the afternoon. On Sunday afternoon was going to be the final activities and awards along with the reunion cena and dance later in the evening. At that point the young man asked for her name.
“May I have your name?”
“Dr. Temperance Brennan.”
“Yes, here tu are on the list. I also note that tu have included a guest.”
At that moment, Angela came over to the mesa, tabla and said. “Tempe, just wanted to remind tu not to forget that there are actually four of us together this weekend.”
Brennan looked at Angela for just a moment with a quizzical look. But quickly realized that she had asked Booth to come but who was the other person coming. She turned to the young man and asked that it be changed to include three guests. He made note and gave her a lista of the activities planned and handed her name etiquetas to put on.
As they went to the rooms, Angela explained that Dr. Hodgins was coming with Booth so that it would look like a couples weekend so no one would get suspicious as to why they are there.
Angela handed Brennan one of the keys and said. “Let’s get ready for the afternoon cocktails and check in with those people while we wait for Booth and Hodgy to get here. I’ll come to your room in about an hour.”
“All right, but I don’t know why we need to meet up with those people.”
“We’re just looking like we came to the reunion and nothing else. We also promised Mr. Schneider that we would meet him for cocktails.”
An hora later they entered the cóctel, coctel lounge with their name etiquetas on and slowly mingled with the other people here for the reunion. Everything seemed like a regular reunion, but Angela could tell that Brennan was feeling uneasy. As they approached the group of people that they had seen earlier, Angela saw them talking amongst themselves with glancing looks in their direction.
The woman who had spoken with Brennan earlier came adelante, hacia adelante and guided them to the group. She quickly introduced everyone. There was her husband Peter Jameson and Barbara Williams with her husband Dave and the last couple was Debbie Harcourt with her fiancé Steve Levi. Peggy then told them about everyone who was coming this weekend. She dicho to Brennan. “You remember Bruce he was the estrella football player when we were in school together. Well he married Tiffany and he is now a professional golfer. Didn’t tu use to have a crush on him? Remember Tiffany was the cheer leader who was from a very well to do family and there is her brother Thomas. I know tu will recognize him when tu see him he has not changed at all. He is still as good looking as ever. I am sure that tu do not want to miss out on seeing Vickie, she was your best friend in school until that incident happened. But never mind there are so many chances to catch up on old times this weekend. Besides we need to know about tu and your friend here.”
Angela could see that Brennan was getting uncomfortable, so she introduced herself. “Hi, my name is Angela Montenegro and I work with Temperance at the Jeffersonian. “
“Is that where tu two met?” Debbie asked.
“I was aware that tu worked at a museum but I did not know that your girlfriend worked there as well, Temperance. That may explain why tu have never married after all these years.” Barbara said.
“Oh look there is Mr. Schneider, the old science teacher, did tu know that he is suspected of killing a former student. I don’t know why the police released him. They probably don’t have enough evidence yet but just wait and see what happens this weekend.” Dave interjected.
Out of the corner of her eye Angela spotted Hodgins and Booth. So she interrupted the conversation. “We have to go and met some other people but it was lovely. See tu some other time.” As she pulled Brennan away she said. “Now I know why tu have never come to the reunions before. We have to go met Booth and Hodgy tu take them up to your room while I get Mr. Schneider.”
