Episode 68: Pimp My Engine

Work was getting very difficult on the Southern Pacific. The snowfalls of winter have been so thick, that the SP needed to get a lot of snowplows to clear their line. One part of the SP was in a highly elevated area called the Sierra Neighvadas. So much snow falls there that it was as tall as a five story building.
But it could be worse, right? Well for Anthony it was. He always drove engine 2472, but in the summer of '56, his engine's smokestack got shot, and it had to be repaired. However, nopony got around to repairing it yet, so his engine always made a weird noise when he drove it.
Now stop the song.
On the station.
Nikki: *Wearing a pelaje, piel coat*
Roger: *Not wearing anything* I don't see how tu can be so cold.
Nikki: I don't see how you're not cold at all.
Roger: I'm a unicorn. I can make a spell to keep myself warm.
Nikki: tu unicornios have respuestas to everything.
Duke & Ryan: *Stopping a streamlined passenger train on the station*
Passengers: *Getting out*
Duke & Ryan: *Climbing out of engine*
Nikki: What are tu two doing?
Ryan: Apparently, Donut is supposed to take over on this train, Duke will work in the yards, and Anthony is going to be passing por with a freight.
Nikki: What are tu going to do?
Ryan: Repair track.
Anthony: *Stops his train siguiente to the passenger train to refuel his engine. As it gets más coal, and water, he climbs out to go talk to his friends*
Roger: Maybe tu should try being a unicorn, and do all the cool things I do.
Nikki: *Mocking Roger* Maybe tu should try being a unicorn, and do all the cool things I do. No thanks. I like myself the way I am.
Anthony: *Walks onto station platform*
Roger: Hi Anthony.
Anthony: Hi everypony. My engine still has that smokestack that got shot. Michael dicho he was going to get a new one.
Ryan: Listen Anthony, you've been talking about that to us for a long time. We're starting to think it's a joke.
Anthony: What?
Roger: What he's trying to say is this. Stop talking about your engine, and it's smokestack.
Donut: *Climbs into streamlined passenger train*
Anthony: What for? I thought tu cared.
Duke: We do. We really do, but please, talk about something else.
Conductor: All aboard.
Donut: *Drives train*
Anthony: Sure. I better get back in my train. tu probably wouldn't want to see it if tu don't want me talking about it. *Walks away*
Nikki: tu could've dicho those things to him in a nicer tone.
Roger: I told you, I'm a unicorn. I don't care about being nice.

Ryan got his engine ready, and got it coupled up to a work train to repair track.
Ryan: *Waiting for a green signal*
Workers: *On train*
Worker Leader: *Walks up to Ryan's train*
Ryan: *Opens window, and looks at leader*
Work Leader: Where does Michael want us to go?
Ryan: He just wants us heading southbound until we get to a bridge. There's a river there, and he dicho that a huge branch from a fallen árbol got stuck there.
Worker Leader: So?
Ryan: It's preventing the water from flowing through. If the water doesn't go through, then it'll cause a flood. We don't want that, now do we?
Worker Leader: That depends. How many ponies are going to drown?
Ryan: I feel sympathy for you. *Sees green signal* Get in the train. We need to go.
Worker Leader: *Gets in train*
Ryan: *Blows horn twice, rings the bell, and drives his train*
Worker 25: So where did he say we were going?
Worker Leader: Southbound towards a bridge. We need to get this big branch out from this river going under it.
Worker 56: tu don't sound too thrilled about it.
Worker Leader: Ryan feels sympathy for me, because I wanted some ponies to drown.
Worker 33: Why?
Ryan: *Driving train at 30 miles an hour*
Michael: *On radio* Ryan. Do tu copy?
Ryan: *Gets on walkie talkie* Yeah. What's up?
Michael: That bridge we were talking about. After tu get the big branch out from the river going under that bridge, tu have to modify it. I've been getting complaints from other ponies about it being unstable.
Ryan: Yes sir.
A few minutos later, they got to the bridge.
Workers: *Getting out of train*
Ryan: *Goes to leader* I just got más news from Michael.
Worker Leader: What?
Ryan: I dicho I got más ne-
Worker Leader: What is the news?
Ryan: He says that tu should modify the bridge after tu get the branch out from the river.
Worker Leader: He could have told us that sooner.
Ryan: I guess he wanted to, but he forgot.
Worker Leader: Some boss he is. At least I don't forget things.
Worker 52: That branch is out from the river boss.
Worker Leader: Yeah, yeah. Let's go home.
Ryan: Aren't tu forgetting something?
Worker Leader: Not that I know of.
Ryan: Don't tu remember that conversation we just had?
Worker Leader: No.
Ryan: tu have to modify the bridge.
Worker Leader: Fine, fine, fine.
Workers: *Getting onto train*
Worker Leader: Listen up. Michael wants us to modify that bridge now. Get your tools, and let's start working.
Ryan: I really hope they get it modified soon. A lot of important trains go across that bridge.
The bridge was finished after the modifications were made. It only took eleven days, but the tracks were smoother, and the bridge could hold más weight.

Anthony was the first poni, pony to drive his train across the modified bridge. His engine still had the smokestack with the bullet in it, and he was hoping it would be fixed soon.
Anthony: *Driving train*
Firepony: Pretty cold today.
Anthony: Yeah, tu could say that again. When I woke up at my house, I saw a lot of icicles.
Firepony: tu better get rid of them before they fall, and land on somepony.
Anthony: I tried, but they were too high. Get some más coal into the firebox. We're going into a tunnel.
Firepony: *Shoveling coal into firebox*
Anthony: *Drives train into tunnel* What the...
Firepony: What's up?
Anthony: There's something hanging from the roof.
A banging noise was heard in the tunnel. Then, Anthony's train came out.
Anthony: *Stops train* Whatever that was, it can't be good.
Firepony: *Gets out of engine*
Anthony: *Gets out of engine, and looks around*
Firepony: hola Anthony!
Anthony: What?
Firepony: If tu thought having the smokestack getting shot was bad, come take a look at this.
Anthony: *Walks to the front of his engine, and sees that the smokestack is gone* How in the world of Equestria did that happen?
Firepony: That banging noise must've meant that something tu saw hanging from the tunnel's roof hit the smokestack, causing it to fall off.
Anthony: *Sighs* Now what?
Firepony: Well we can't just leave this train here.
Anthony: Alright, let's keep going.
So they tried driving the train without it's smokestack, but the journey was not easy.
Anthony: Too much smoke is coming out.
Firepony: Well, just keep driving. We can't stop now. *Sees a hollow pipe* Or, maybe we can.
Anthony: What for?
Firepony: I got an idea. Stop the train.
Anthony: *Stops train*
Firepony: *Gets out to get hollow pipe*
Anthony: *Follows Firepony* What is that?
Firepony: It's a hollow pipe. We'll put this on our engine where the smokestack was, and that'll control the smoke.
Anthony: That's stupid. Everypony is going to laugh at me when they see my engine like that.
Firepony: Well it's either that, o tu get fired for leaving a train on the mainline.
Anthony: Okay, we'll do it.
Some cables were used to keep the pipe in place, and it worked. However, when Anthony returned his engine to the yards in Ogden, everypony started to make fun of him.
Donut: *Laughing* When tu told us that a new smokestack was going to be put on your engine, we didn't think it would be a hollow pipe!
Anthony: Shut up.
Roger: Oh, I got a perfect song for this very occasion. *Sings* Anthony dicho again, and again, his engine's new smokestack would grab our interest. He went through a tunnel, and lost the smokestack. Now the new smokestack is a hollow pipe!
Everypony: *Laughing*
Anthony: *Not amused* Great song Roger. Really great. *Walks away*
siguiente day, he was looking over the engine with Michael.
Michael: Okay. Here's what we're going to do. I figured, while we get a new smokestack onto your engine, we'd make a few other upgrades to it.
Anthony: What kind of upgrades?
Michael: A bigger firebox, bigger drive wheels, and maybe even a bigger tender. Your engine will have más power, más speed, and más capacity for fuel.
Anthony: Okay. Let's do it.
So it was arranged. Anthony's engine was taken to a comprar miles away, and a few weeks later, it came back with all the upgrades Michael dicho it was going to have. Anthony enjoys driving it, and some of the other ponies are jealous.
Nikki: *Sitting on bench with Roger*
Anthony: *Driving past in his engine with a passenger train*
Roger: There he goes again.
Nikki: His engine just ain't the same like it used to be. I wish I could drive it, but Michael won't let me.
Roger: Same here. Maybe we should ask him to upgrade all the engines that we drive.
