A lot of people want to stop perrito, cachorro mills, but they don't know how. But if tu follow these 8 steps correctly, tu and everybody else who did this will be one step closer to ending perrito, cachorro mills, for good.

Do Not Buy Your perrito, cachorro From a Pet Store

That perrito, cachorro who hechiceras tu through the pet comprar window has most likely come from a large-scale, substandard commercial breeding facility, commonly known as a perrito, cachorro mill. In these facilities, parent perros are caged and bred as often as possible, and give birth to cachorritos who could have costly medical problems tu might not become aware of until after tu bring your new pet home.

Make Adoption Your First Option

If you’re looking to make a perrito, cachorro part of your family, check your local shelters first. Not only will tu be saving a life, but tu will ensure that your money is not going to support a perrito, cachorro mill. There are many perros waiting for homes in shelters all across the country—and an estimated one in four is a purebred! Your segundo option is breed rescue. If your corazón is set on a specific breed tu haven’t been able to find in a shelter, tu can do an Internet buscar for a breed-specific rescue organization.

Internet Buyers, Beware!

Buying a perrito, cachorro from the Internet is as risky as buying from a pet store. If tu buy a perrito, cachorro based on a picture and a phone call, tu have no way of seeing the puppy’s breeding premises o meeting his parents. And those who sell animales on the Internet are not held to the Animal Welfare Act regulations, and so are not inspected por the USDA.

Share Your perrito, cachorro Mill Story with the ASPCA

If tu have—or think tu have—purchased a puppy-mill puppy, please tell us your story. Every bit of evidence gives us más power to get legislation passed that will ban perrito, cachorro mills.

Speak Out!

Inform your state and federal legislators that tu are disturbed por the inhumane treatment of perros in perrito, cachorro mills, and would like to see legislation passed that ensures that all animales bred to be pets are raised in healthy conditions. tu can keep up-to-date about current legislation to ban perrito, cachorro mills por joining the ASPCA Advocacy Brigade.

Tell Your Friends

If someone tu know is planning on buying a puppy, please direct them to our perrito, cachorro mill information at ASPCA.org. Let them know that there are perfectly healthy perros in shelters waiting to be adopted.

Think Globally

Have a webpage, a MySpace page o a blog? Use these powerful tools to inform people about perrito, cachorro mill cruelty por adding a link to our perrito, cachorro mill information at ASPCA.org.

Act Locally!

When people are looking to buy o adopt a pet, they will often ask the consejos of their veterinarian, groomer o pet supply store.Print flyers and ask to leave them in the offices of your local practitioners.

After I read about Emilie Autumn's pet rats Sir Edward and Basil, and how close she is with them, I thought about how a lot of people with pet snakes would have fed Sir Edward and Basil to the snake. I don't think snakes should be pets. Some are poisonness, they can bite tu at anytime, and if your mostrando off with a pet boa constrictor around your neck, your just asking for trouble.
Snakes should be left in the wild. A snake in the wild will find and eat one animal at a time. A person would feed it several rats, rabbits, mice, o in this case, kittens. A woman who rescus animales in my community...
