I think Xena kinda fell for Gabby when they first met, because of the approach she took to go with her.

For me Xena and Gabby are not más than best friends.There are close like sisters and their kisses are absolutely normal and for me they don't transmutation their friendship in amor tie.

i don't think that they amor each other in that way, the have an unusual relationship, deep friendship, both soul and body, but they are not lovers.
