I think Brooke and Lucas had their chances but with Peyton they didn't have a chance to end up . Then , Nate and Blair never really had a chance: since 1x01 Nate wants to be with Serena and Blair wanted fastly to be with Chuck .

yeah, mark clearly bases his show's endgame couples around the actor's personal lives. that makes complete sense. even though he has said many times that LP's endgame was planned since season 1. HIS WORDS: "since the pilot we've designed a world where lucas and peyton are meant to be together".

Come on guys! You CAN NOT tell me that Brucas's storyline didn't evolve because of Chopia. The fans wanted it so he wrote it. You can even watch the season 2 bonus features if you don't believe me. Am I saying that Mark didn't want LP to be endgame since the pilot.... Not really. I'm saying Mark probably would have changed it if CS had stayed together. And is it just me or did he say a lot of that "LP are meant to be" after everything happened with CS? Just saying

that's great that he evolved BL because of CS. but that doesn't really prove anything. that in no way means that he ever considered them for endgame. the fans wanted to see BL as a couple, so he gave them BL as a couple. but he ALSO gave BL a troubled relationship. and he gave brooke insecurities, and numerous unhappy times throughout a lot of BL's story. he clearly made it a point to show that even though BL were a couple, they werent meant to last. and who cares when mark SAID the stuff about LP out loud? that doesn't mean that's when he first felt that way. he was obviously in that same mindset when he wrote the pilot

^^^ Obviously people who love BL and people who hate BL see things differently, but I just don't think this statement "he clearly made it a point to show that even though BL were a couple, they werent meant to last" can be accurate. If he "CLEARLY" made that point, then half the people who watch the show wouldn't think otherwise. Mark Schwahn may have had that point in mind but he didn't make it clear since many fans of the show believed BL had a chance to be endgame at different points throughout the series. I think there were points when he tried to make that point obvious... like after the Banquet in season 4, or with all the talk about LP being "epic" in season 5, or definitely all of season 6. But I know many LP fans who watched season 2 and were actually thinking that maybe the show was turning around since Lucas spent the season realizing he was falling in love with Brooke. I've heard LP fans say they were worried when watching season 2. Or when Brucas had scenes like Lucas saying he's the guy for her, or the destiny shot. I'm not saying Brucas should have ended up together (even though that is how I feel), but I'm saying that if Mark Schwahn's point was to show throughout the series that Brucas were not meant to be... well, there were many occasions when he didn't make that point clear. Every couple on OTH has had a troubled relationship, every couple has had insecurities, and every couple has had numerous unhappy times... but these same couples have also had sweet declarations of their love, have made such bold statements as to say they were soul mates, and have fought to be in a relationship with one another. So I know for me, and for thousands of other fans, it was not so clear that this was the point being made in the first few seasons.

But I will say that even though I looooved the BL scenes in season 5, I thought it was CLEAR that season 5 was just a way to set up LP in season 6.

Nate and Blair never seemed to be on the same page... one of them was always more into someone else when they were together (Serena, Chuck)

I'm more Brucas than Leyton , but for me it was always obvious that Leyton is going to be endgame , as for Chair I always believed that Chuck is just an obstacle for Nair , never took such characters seriously , unfortunately I was wrong!

Totally agree with jemgrl323! Every couple on OTH has a troubled relationship. I can't think of one that was always happy and nice except for Bevin and Skills, who were abruptly ended for no reason =/. Mark originally wanted LP from beginning, every OTH fan knows that but with things like the destiny shot and the "Brooke's the one, Lucas is the one for me" it's obvious there were moments were that was in question. And I agree that when I first watched Season 5 I never thought BL would end up together. But then again I wasn't the huge BL fan I am now then...

Neither really. I don´t think BL was a filler couple I just never saw things in them to make it long-term. Their relatiosnhip never worked. You can have "destiny shots" and nice speeches but it all comes down to wether they work as a couple and they didn´t. Even if Peyton didn´t exist I don´t think they would have been endgame. As for Nair, their relationship was never good in my eyes and they were never really in love, so not a chance in being endgame.

Okay, I think BL did stand a chance... for a while anyway. But Mark had always planned LP to be endgame, so I think the CS divorce had nothing to do with BL not being endgame. Sure, it might have made it easier for Mark, but I think that even if CS stayed together, LP would have gotten the endgame. Not trying to pick a fight, just saying.

None of us will ever really know whether Brucas could have been end game, because Mark would never admit it even if he thought it possible at one point. After Chad and Sophia broke up, obviously it was all over, but before that... I think there was a serious possibility.
