As soon as Hazel exchanged another message with John finding out where exactly he was, she messaged her friends in a group chat. I won’t let anything happen to John, she vowed. I’m protecting him whether he likes it o not! She sent her friends a message saying: “Hi, guys, we’ve got a job to do. John Lennon is in danger, and we’re going to shield him.”
Within minutes, she received respuestas back saying things like, “Johnny’s in danger??” “What kind of danger, Hazel?” “What are we doing about it?” “You can count on us!” as well as a number of worried face emojis.
Hazel typed back quickly. “Watch this; it explains everything.” She added a link to Mark David Chapman’s video, and her siguiente batch of respuestas expressed varying degrees of horror and indignation, and most of all a burning hatred.
“Now listen,” Hazel typed. “We’ve got to mover fast. We’re a lot closer to John than that monster is, but we’ve still got to get to him as quickly as possible. Which is why we’ve all got to go to Scotland.”
“Why Scotland?” one of her friends typed back.
“I thought he lived in London,” another added.
“Paul’s taken him to his place to hide,” Hazel explained. “And we’re going to go there and protect him, too.”
“Some of us should also watch out for this Chapman creep,” one of Hazel’s friends named Evanna suggested.
“Good idea,” several others chimed in.
“Why don’t we make an online campaign to help John?” inquired one girl whose name was Candice. “I bet there are loads of people like us who’d want to help him.”
There were several messages of assent.
“No!” Hazel typed back firmly. “If we let word get out where John’s hiding, Chapman might see it. We'd be leading him right to John!”
“But we can spread the word to keep an eye out for Chapman,” Candice persisted. “Then maybe someone will catch him before he even has a chance to get near John!”
“What if Chapman sees it and finds out we’re looking for him?” Hazel pointed out. “He’d know we’re looking for him and he wouldn’t let us find him. We’ve got to take him por surprise.”
So the group decided that some of them would go to Scotland to stay with John, while the rest would keep an eye out in Londres to try and catch Chapman before he could do anything. Hazel was heading the group going to Scotland, of course. She had been the one to warn John about this, and she was going to see it through till the end.
