Is it illegal to kill a burglar?

Ok I'm really terrified right now. Summer brings two aspects with it that I hate; 1. Allergies. 2. Burglars.
Normally the burglars just steal stuff, but two days hace a girl was raped por a burglar in her own bedroom just a few blocks away from my home!

If I keep a cuchillo in my nightstand and kill the burglar if he's in my room, would that be illegal o self-defense?

Self-defense, but tu do want to check on the peculiarities of your country's laws. In the US, it's not been unheard of for burglars to sue the homeowners (and win!) for injuries suffered. I'm not kidding.
