hetalia Article: Dubs suck...

Is what MOST anime fans think as they click on the subbed version of their anime of choice. Heck I do it ALL the time. It's just something about the English voices that just rub me the wrong way. Plus sometimes they just COMPLETELY screw up the voices in a way that makes tu want to puñetazo, ponche the voice-actors in the face. Very few anime's have good English versions.
hetalia is one of them.
I'm going to make this short and sweet, and as unbiased as possible considering I'm a HUGE hetalia fan 83. But there are 3 things that make the Funimation English dub of hetalia WIN.
1. The script is executed perfectly, lines that might have seemed sublime in the Japanese version were expanded into hilarious proportions in the English version.
Example using America;
Japanese version; I hate the cold, winter is the worst(or something along those lines D8)
English version;
Man, Winter can suck on my Jingle bells. (I lol'd)
#2. THE NARRATOR; Oh my Fancy French cheeses this woman is hilarious! Any narrator that just busts out with; Holy crap a talking muffin! Is WIN
Example; Poland used caballos durin-Oh wait I'm sorry I'm talking to American fans. Poland is a COUNTRY :D! In Europe!
Le win.
#3. And last but not least THE ACCENTS
Now before tu run away and say that the accents messed up their voices think for a moment; THOSE ACCENTS ARE FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE COUNTRY. It adds a sense of realism to the anime that the Japanese version couldn't deliver with ALL the nations ONLY speaking Japanese. And the accents are not even that thick so it's easy to understand what they are saying too. Plus Italy still sounds SO cute xD! And Germany's is VERY fitting.
I hate dubs, with a passion, but the dub for hetalia is EPIC WIN.This dub has to be one of Funimation's best.
Give it a try, you'll be lolling for hours, I guarantee it.

NanaChi I agree, there are very few Dubs that I enjoy. One of them being Hetalia. I usually like the original seiyuu better (mainly if I'm watching something moe) But this one is pretty good. Some of the characters I like better in the sub, and some I like better in the dub. So it's a win-win for me. If Funimation dubs World Series and/or Paint It White, I'll definitely re-watch them again to see the differences.

Trainofdoom Glad you made the consideration my fellow Hetalia-fan! :D The dub of Paint it White comes out this fall, I think!

RussiaxChina3 I acctually like China's sub voice instead because in the dub his voice sounds much more darker then his sub voice which kinda bothers me. so yea Ilike both the dubs and subs becuase mainly some charater voices sound weird in the dub then the sub.

Trainofdoom That's okay too! :L I just don't like it when people hate on the dub and they never even watched it.....

NanaChi I like Iggy's voice in the dub because he sounds more like the gentlemen that he claims to be lol. And because I.. find british accents.. kinda sexy. France, I like in the sub and dub. Although he sounds funnier in the dub. Italy sounds soooo cute in the sub though. Russia, too. They sound alright in the dub, but I don't like Romano's or China's dub because Romano sounds too manly and China needs his -aru! Lastly, I like America in the dub more because he always says funny things, and uses the word 'dude' alot, like a true American. >:) Oh yeah, Germany sounds good in both, and I like Japan in both too, but the sub a little bit more.

BeB XD I like them both sub and dub, but each has their moments. Like in sub, England teaching Japan how to speak English... priceless. 'This is a pen' XDXDXD hahahahahaha! But also the dub changes the dilagoue a bit like one of the many hilarous things America says 'Dude check out my new fire plane of doom! Pretty kick ass huh?' XD oh America... but ya, Sub, Dub, cant we all just get along? Remember, make Pasta not war :3 ... but great article Trainofdoom >w< I laughed at the Charlie sheen pic XD

MaybeBlue I definitely agree! This dub was AMAZING. America's lines are epic ;D don't forget "Winter can suck on my jingle bells!"

TDIfangirl I really, really like the dub. It makes Hetalia seem more like a parody than it is. The voices are good and it was a pretty smart move adding accents. That just makes it a whole lot better. And it makes them seem more fitting to their ethnicities; in the Japanese dub, it makes them look like Japanese people acting like Italians, Germans, etc. I like Japan, Canada and Russia's japanese and english voices because they're both cute. Same with America and Germany because they sound fitting to their characters. Now with Italy's Japanese voice...I just don't like it as much as the english. Maybe it's because it's so whispery, but it just doesn't appeal to me. Anyway, I am a full supporter of dubs and the English language, and the one for Hetalia is top notch.

psychokitty i agree completely hetalia has a very good English dub. and i love the narrator shes so funny!

pumpkinqueen I only watch dubs, I can never watch subbed anime. I really don't want to read a TV show.

videogamergirl I only watch the dubbed. I just love accents! I don't get accents if it's subbed. I'm a sucker for accents. They're so neat!

T045tToastToAsT I haven't watched the dubbed anime, but I have seen bits of it on Youtube, and I've got to say it's one of the best dubs I've heard... ;) I still like the subbed version better though, but it's probably cuz I'm Asian. :o

My Interpretation of "World Ondo" from Hetalia: Paint It, White!

Paint It, White, created por Hidekaz Himuraya, was released on June 5, 2010. Along with it came a new (and popular) song, "World Ondo", which is shown at the end credits of the movie. But I would like to clear up on one thing: what is the real meaning of this song? My other hetalia fanatic friends asked me this pregunta after hearing the new song, and I started to wonder about that notion.
Now, I will (TRY!) to interpret the real message of this song:

"Wa! Wa! Wa!
Hey, hey, Sole!
Wa! Wa! Wa!
Hey, Soviet Union!"

Now, this might not be particularly important to the highlights of this song, but I loved...

Ivan Barginsky walked silently, at an even pace.
There were dozens and dozens of voices ringing in his head, voices that just wouldn't go away. Some voices were sad, some were angry, and some didn't even make sense. They were just yells and screams.
