When I first read the books I hated him but then he grew on me, Now I love him

I always found him an interesting character and from the beginning I wondered what his story was and why Dumbledore trusted him so much. From the first book he was a mass of contradictions. His loathing for Harry was obvious and yet he protected him. I was never quite sure where he stood and that fascinated me.

I hated him from the begining because he hated Harry and I thought he was really on Voldemort's side but I read on and I started to like him because he was really helping Harry, and a spy for Dumbledore

...but i love that i hate him, i love his character and it's hard going from being suspicious of this character for 8 years then all of a sudden he's completely redeemed himself, but there is still all the times he picked on Harry (because of James..and he had to keep up the charade) and then protecting him (because of Lilly) so i LOVE to DISLIKE him

Well, at the very beginning it was rather neutral and then I loved him more and more with every new book.

I hated him in the beggining!
Just when Harry thought Snape was on Voldermort's side
I started hating him so much! Because I thought he acted like
innocent, but he actually wasn't!

And then, about the arrogance he treated Harry, I couldn't stand him anymore.

And also when he was begging to Dumbledore to save just Lily,
let alone James and Harry, it became pathetic.

Later on, I started feeling some pity about him,
that in the end turned into an admiration! :)

Not hate but never like him either

Honestly, I do. I only like him in the movies because Alan Rickman portrays him fantastically.

I always liked him for some reason.

Hated him in the beginning (mostly because I was like 8 when I first started reading the books and I agreed with the characters), but he seems a whole lot better now.

I just can't get over how cruel he was, though of course I know the reasons and such.

As a character, not a person. He is a great character.

I've loved him since I first started on the HP series, when I was little. X3 He was such a sarcastic bastard.

i never figured him out- i have to admit im a very cookiecutter reader- harry never loved snape- so neither did i- and until that memory vial i didn't understand him.. but it wasn't until a very dedicated fanfic writer did i love him..

I hated him when Harry hated him in first book, when he was evil and they thought he worked for Voldemort...he grew on me as the books continued...I LOATHED him when he killed Dumbledore, and then loved him at the end!!!

I loved him from the very first potions lesson in Philosopher's Stone. Never doubted him, even after the events of HBP.

I started liking him after the fourth book, but honestly, after reading the "Tea series" I begun to LOVE Severus :)

I could always identify with his character, I understood him I guess.

Until the Princes Tale, I hated him.

I've never really trusted him,until the Prince's tale.

i can't deny this

I right from the begining knew (don't ask how I just some how knew) that Snape wasn't this big old pain in the butt.Some how I just knew he was this big old teddy bear who was hiding it from the world.I still don't know just how I knew it.So yeah I liked him from the begining. LOL

He was my favorite character from the start because he was so complex and interesting. (It might have helped that I read the books after I was older and not as a kid). And as his story was brought out into the light with each book I loved him more and more.

I guess I never really hated him from the beginning, but I didnt love him till a little later in the series. I was young when the books and movies began ( 98-9 books; 01-12 movies). So you see things as more than just black and white as you get older. Now I love him and see him for what he truly is, a brave man and a great wizard with a tortured life.
