One thing I've noticed in general is that anti's tend to make a pretty big deal out of the Twilight vampiros sparkling. I've seen people saying things like real vampiros don't sparkle, vampiros not sparkling was a fact, and that it was gay of them to sparkle. Okay, of ALL the things to criticize in Twilight, people are going after the SPARKLING? Seriously?

First off, at least where I'm from, calling something “gay” as an insult is considered really rude and distasteful. Besides being rude and homophobic, it's also generalizing and stereotyping. Just because something sparkles doesn't make it gay. I don’t know how anyone else feels about this, but I personally hate it when people use that as an insult. To me, it just makes the person saying it look bad, not the vampire in pregunta they’re trying to insult.

Next, vampiros don't exist, so tu can't say for certain whether they sparkle o not. Saying that vampiros don't sparkle is merely an opinion, not a fact, and por definition, an opinion is neither right nor wrong.

I've also heard people saying that Stephenie Meyer ruined vampires, and they seem to insist that "real" vampiros are like Dracula. I've read and heard of a lot of other libros where the authors have changed vampires, such as the House of Night Series, The Cirque Du Freak Series, etc., but I've never come across someone complaining about how they changed vampires, o complaining that they ruined vampires. From what I’ve seen, people can and will always find something to hate about almost anything, and people making such a big deal out of the MeyerPires sparkling seems as though they’re just looking for something to hate, I mean if she'd made her vampiros más traditional, people would probably be complaining/accusing that she'd ripped off Bram Stoker.

Even if tu don't like what Stephenie Meyer did with vampires, at least she came up with something new and somewhat creative. I mean, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and it’s fine if tu dislike the sparkling, and I’m not trying to change that, but it just seems like such a petty thing to make such a huge deal over.

TrueHufflepuff You have a view here. Antis get a bit too much on the vampires-do not-sparkle thing. Personally, I find the sparkling-vampires silly, but if you want to say how much you hate Twilight, you'd rather just spend one or two lines about the sparkling. Don't make it a whole subject. And I liked the whole aritcle.

alexthedog The sparkling is kind of weird, but I am all for what you said about calling things "gay".

ImBooOK Yea I am not too much fond of the sparkle part, but I do like that is something different. When people (Antis) make the comment about "well it isnt a good story because the vampire sparkles" ..I honestly do not think what the vampire does that makes the book. It is not about vampires sparkling 24/7, trust me I did read every book. And for those who say "Sparkling makes them gay" is insulting. Im pretty sure people who are gay do not find this funny at all. And even though I loath Edward, Lets put the spot on another Cullen. Carlisle for example, could not be gay because he IS in love with a woman. And Jasper and Emmett are as well. So for those who do this "Thats so gay" thing (and no I do not mean EVERY anti does this, but for those who do) you should really just get over the sparkling is gay thing. Because it isnt. so yeah, thats all.

woofbark I agree......sparkling isn't a reason why Twilight is bad.....it's just an easy way to make fun of it, I guess... EDWARD: *sparkles non-threateningly* FEAR ME! Like that. But no one really knnows if a vampire (if they existed) would sparkle, so I think it's safe to say that sparkling doesn't make Twilight bad......................it just gives anti's an easy way to make fun of it.

woofbark I don't think I was very clear up there. Anti's of each book tend to make fun of a certain thing about the other book. For example, anti-HP people tend to make fun of the wands and magic. Examples: "It's jst a boy waving a stick" "Who cares about gay wizzards?!!" "its just a dum wizard with a stick" Magic, wizards, and wands don't make HP bad, but it gives anti's an easy way to make fun of it.
