What do tu know now that tu didn’t know in your 20s?

“I know that it’s important to remain active no matter what. I think we take that for granted when we’re younger, but when we get a little older tu have to make plans to move.

“I’m quite an active person, but sometimes I’m in towns where tu don’t have a place to move, so it’s easy to think, ‘Forget it.’ I know tu can never do that. tu can walk miles around any city. tu can walk hundreds of miles, and it keeps tu healthy and feeling great.

“So, get out of your car. tu don’t have to make a big gym plan. Just focus on the natural burning of calories through walking. I also like to cycle because I amor the subculture of bikes. I run.

“I’m pretty much a stranger to the gym. I don’t like working out in a gym. It’s not my thing.

“But I do like the feeling I have from moving, so I take any little bit of time. Let’s say I just have 20 extra minutes. That’s the perfect time for a bike ride o a walk. It becomes an adventure if tu do this outdoors. Who knows what you’ll see o who tu will meet.

The Asian tsunami of Dec. 26, 2004, killed almost a quarter-million people in 14 countries. The scale and speed of the devastation defy comprehension, and no movie could be expected to convey the full measure of the horror. But disaster, real and imagined, is a staple of the modern cinematic imagination, and an event like the tsunami presents itself to an ambitious filmmaker as both a technical challenge and a moral risk.
“The Impossible,” the segundo feature from the Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona, uses digital imagery, meticulous sound diseño and tried-and-true editing techniques to recreate both the violence of unleashed waters and the desolation that followed their assault on southern Thailand. Much más than Clint Eastwood’s “Hereafter,” which used the tsunami as a framing device for one of its tales of supernatural obsession, “The Impossible” plunges the audience into the catastrophe and then immerses us in the panic, grief and disorientation of the aftermath.

The Thai crew working on tsunami film The Impossible initially feared the production was "cursed" and performed a ritual to improve their luck, according to actor Ewan McGregor.

The new drama chronicles the story of a family's survival in the aftermath of the horrific Indian Ocean tidal wave that killed más than 230,000 people on December 26th, 2004.

McGregor travelled to Thailand to shoot scenes on location and admits bouts of bad weather prompted fears among locals that the project was doomed.

He tells Britain's The Guardian newspaper, "It was a very difficult film to make, especially with the weather. We had a lot of rain, and the actual día of the original tsunami was very beautiful, so we had to wait. There was some talk among the Thai crew that the film might be... cursed, tu know?"

"That the spirits o the gods might be preventing us from making the film. There were some spooky moments."

The actor tells the publication the crew sent lanterns into the sky to "appease" the spirits.

RICHARD CROUSE
FOR METRO CANADA
May 12, 2009 1:00 a.m.

While sitting atop the Castel Saint Angelo in Rome waiting to interview ángeles & Demons estrella Ewan McGregor, I had a panoramic view of the city and the beautiful chaos that makes life in the Eternal City tick.

The traffic is crazy and there are people everywhere. It’s an intense place, even más so, I imagined, if tu were shooting a big budget Hollywood picture that takes place in some of the city’s busiest spots.

“The funny thing is I didn’t shoot any of it in Rome,” McGregor dicho when asked. “I shot in this place called Caserta. There’s a palace in Caserta that I thought it sounded really romantic, so I arranged for my wife to come over and spend a weekend with me, but it’s a dump, a horrible place. I’m sorry but it’s just a suburb of Naples that’s exploded around this old palace. It’s really nasty. Not a good place.

“Apart from that I did most of my stuff in L.A. because my character is mainly inside the Vatican and of course, the Vatican didn’t want us to shoot inside their buildings so they built the Sistine Chapel on the Sony...
