I feel like she would since the queen didn't want them to get their happiness. Like James and Snow White weren't together and the queen uses his amnesia to her advantage. Also Cinderella had a bit of this in her story too.

BelleAnastasia actually she was a siren not a mermaid. She had legs and mermaids have tails besides James called her a siren not a mermaid. So Regina wasn't refering to her, it was Ariel.

While I'm sure Ariel will be on this show at some point, you can't be 100% the mermaid Regina was referencing was Ariel. I'm sure there's more than one mermaid in the fairy tale world.
