I suggest Log Horizon, it's still airing and tu can watch it on Crunchyroll. It's a lot like SAO setting wise, but the characters, story, and pretty much everything else make it truly unique.

[pictured] Try Natsume Yuujinchou... it is my all time favorito! anime. But it's not really magic themed, it's más supernatural and fantasy. The animación is amazing, characters lovable, messages deep, música beautiful and the en general, general story line addicting. It has a good mix sad, humor, and action. There are also 4 seasons out so it's an anime that tu can really fall in amor with.
