anime creators Character Creation Relay

silverexorcist posted on Jan 02, 2014 at 04:19AM
So, I've been thinking. We have a forum for interesting anime ideas, which is great. It's stimulating to be able to create our own ideas and post them up for others to see and get reactions. So, I thought, wouldn't that also work for characters?

Basically, my idea is that we create characters. That's it. Any character concept that you may have festering in your mind, ready to be forgotten, can be posted here. An interesting alternate concept for a character you're using already in an rp? Go ahead and post it here. A character you randomly thought of in a moment of inspiration and have no plans to use them? Just. Post. Them. Here. And it gets better. We don't just have to post random character ideas here. We can turn it into a sort of brain exercise. We can use preexisting worlds from anime or manga that we've already watched or read, and all create characters using that world's rules and laws. Then might even compare them and maybe even make a friendly competition out of it, voting for who's seems the most canon-like or impressive.

Of course, this doesn't only work for preexisting works. We could just create the skeleton of our own world, maybe using an idea from the Interesting Anime Ideas forum, and create characters for that. Either way, the point is to have fun generating character concepts just for the fun of it. That's why I say 'brain exercise'. Who knows? Maybe we'll inspire each other or end up accidently creating something we want to use for something. Go ahead and try it and see what happens. I know I'm going to!

First is a few characters I created for a Bleach rp, but ended up not liking.

Karasu Yoshino

Age: 530 (looks 17)

Height: 5’4”

Weight: 111 lb.

Appearance: He has wavy black hair that curls around his head and touched the back of his neck. His eyes are deep crimson in color and his stature is slim with thin muscles visible in his arms. He wears a normal shinigami uniform but instead of straw sandals, he wears boots with a long tooth at the bottom that extends for 20 cm., much like Tengu geta sandals. On his head is a Japanese tokin that he wears more like a hat, rather than head protection. A black string holds it in place and extends down around his ears and attaches under his chin. The string is black, so it blends it easily with his hair.

Personality: Karasu is a mild mannered person, remaining calm and collected, often preferring to watch things unfold before getting involved. He always follows orders given to him flawlessly without any questions and prefers to simply be a messenger, running back and forth carrying orders and requests of different squads around. Karasu loves to run and feel the wind through his hair, and is famed for becoming a master at shunpo at an early age. His top speed with shunpo rivals the second squad captain and his custom boots make it easier for him to run without worrying about tripping. His balance abilities are high, evidently, as he wears boots with 20 cm. high teeth.

Zanpakutou: Kurotori (black bird)

Shikai description: Upon release, the katana morphs into a pair of dual daggers with handles that are designed for Karasu’s hands to fit in comfortable, wrapping around his fingers like brass knuckles. The blades on these daggers are shaped like surgical knives with a curved appearance. These blades are jet black in color.

Fighting style: While in shikai, Karasu’s speed and light weight are too his advantage, able to move at high speeds and mercilessly hound the opponent like a wheel of blades. While his attacks carry lots of force behind them, they are more effective when he aims for the opponents weak points before they can react. Even without shunpo, Karasu’s speed makes it almost impossible to be tracked by the eye, forcing the target to focus more on reflex. While Karasu is more focused on close combat, even if the target attempts to put distance between them, Karasu can close the distance almost instantly with his speed, using swift kicks to force and opening before quickly finishing it with his daggers.

Shikai abilities:

Ability 1- Karasu’s spiritual pressure condenses and forms raven feathers to that appear two inches above Karasu’s head and fall infinitely down to his feet. The moment they reach they point, they quickly fade away and continue to rain from above him once more. These feathers are blinding to the opponent, making it even more difficult for see Karasu’s attacks. These feathers remain completely unaffected by winds, spiritual pressure, or anything else used in an attempt to scatter them, aside from something that represses Karasu’s own spiritual pressure.

Elizabeth Du Lac

Weight: 115 lb.

Height: 5’9”

Age: 629 (looks 22)

Appearance: Elizabeth has long purplish hair that hangs just above her waist and beautiful deep emerald eyes. She appears to have an older, mature stature: tall, well endowed, and soft skin. She always carries herself swiftly and with purpose, fitting the position as an upper-class lady. She refuses to wear her lieutenant’s arm badge because it has gone ‘out of style’ and has a rose she sticks in her hair and sometimes plays with in her hands when she remains idle.

Personality: Elizabeth is a very composed person by nature and even seems pompous at times. She is physically aware of men around her, particularly in her squad, and shoos off her suitors with much hostility, unwilling to let herself be seen as a simple girl. If she feels she’s been looked down on because of her gender, she will promptly challenge the offender’s pride and strike them down with her sword mercilessly. Because of her pride, she is often reckless, despite her composed appearance, and spends much time putting other men in their place. Despite her strong adversity against womanizers and sexism, she can appear to be very seductive and flirt unintentionally when she teases others around her gently.

Zanpakutou: Barahanabi (rose fireworks)

Release command: Bloom,

Shikai description: Upon release, the blade of the sword sprouts into to dozens of spines that branch off from the main blade, like a stem. The blade morphs into a cylinder shape with a single spine sticking up from the top. The guard turns into an actual rose with red petals cupping around Elizabeth’s hands. The stem of the blade extends for twenty inches and each thorn is two inches long.

Shikai abilities:

Kafun (pollen)- The guard of the sword releases golden spores from its petals that fly into the air like fireflies, hovering close to whatever Elizabeth aims them toward. Upon Elizabeth’s command word (katsu), these spores explode like dynamite, packing enough power to severely injure shinigami at lieutenant level and below. The main advantage of this ability is the capability to surround the target easily and explode from all sides, closing any holes in order to escape. The disadvantage is how susceptible it is to winds. If a gust is blowing in the wrong direction, it is difficult for the pollen to reach the target against the currents. Flowing spiritual pressure also acts in the same manner.

Keikyoku (thorns)- The spines on Barahanabi extend out in the diagonal path they are pointed for six yards to stab into whatever may be in their way. This can maximize the damage of her stabs by shooting the thorns further into the body of whoever she stabs. These thorns are extremely tough, but if they are somehow broken, they will return to their regular form when the shikai is sealed and released again.

This one is the original concept I was going to use as a teleporter in Game of Faith before I just scrapped her and went with Kyle Crowley instead. I'm pretty satisfied with that decision.

Name: Vivian Saragossa

Height: 5’7”

Weight: 119 lb.

Gender: Female

Eyes: Pale blue

Hair: Black, straight, reaches hips

Appearance: Vivian has pale skin and a sharp face that has the intimidating beauty of a ‘high-class woman’. She wears a white long sleeved shirt underneath a black short sleeved jacket, black ¾ leggings, black leg warmers, and sneakers.

History: Vivian is from a rich family—the Saragossa, all the way in America. Though she official states that her parents are big in the stocks business, she is secretly the only daughter of a big mafia boss in New York. One wouldn’t guess from her flawless accent and manners, though. As a child, she grew up protected and spoiled, but at the same time was taught all sorts of skills in gambling, lying, coercion, and fighting. However, her parents still felt that she would be in too much danger as the fighting between the families began to become more violent. Just a year after her birth, Vivian had begun to undergo a special sort of therapy and studied during all of her free time under the tutelage of a foreign doctor who’d saved Vivian’s father’s life after he took a bullet to the neck. Owing the man, he agreed to allow his daughter to undergo a special test. Though none of them knew it, this was an experiment to see just how important a factor an esper’s ‘personal reality’ is. As one of the fifty-five people in the world to undergo this test, Vivian produced the clearest and best results, possibly due to her selfish and conceited genes. Taking the chance of the growing tension among the families, the doctor extended an offer to take Vivian to Eden, where she would hone her skills. Her parents agreed, and Vivian transferred immediately. Now a level 4 esper, Vivian’s ability was once considered to allow her to become a level 5, but she didn’t make the progress expected of her. Discouraged by how close they had come before failing, Vivian is now left alone by the scientists who had once hounded her, to her relief.

Special abilities: Jumper- Vivian can change positions instantaneously by shifting the dimensions that her body stands in. To do this, she must work out the spatial coordinates of jumping between 3-dimensional and 11-dimensional space, so where she reappears is decided the moment she disappears. She can only teleporting herself and what is in direct contact with her skin, bringing her clothes with her. If something were gripping her shirt when she teleports, or touching an object she is teleporting, they will not vanish as well. She has a limit of being unable to transport things with a total weight of 143.7 kilograms at once to a maximum distance of 81.5 meters from herself. As such, her range can be measured as a circle around her with the radius of 81.5 meters. Any objects within her range do not affect it whatsoever. Due to the teleportation ‘jumping’ between dimensions, they can reappear directly inside another object. Two physical constructs cannot exist in a single place at once, so in this case, the object teleported takes priority. Whatever physical construct is overlapping with the object teleported is pushed aside to make the exact room necessary for the teleported object. This allows Vivian to have perfect accuracy within her range and compensates for a possible error in calculation, such as mistakenly teleporting herself into a wall or another object.

Mannerisms: Openly, Vivian acts slightly pretentious and presents herself splendidly. The others in the all-girl school Vivian attends look at her as an incredibly charismatic person. However, when pushed, Vivian can suddenly become quite rough and course with her language, especially when she sees people picking on the weak without any shame. She’s trained in close combat even without her powers in order to make up for the physical weakness her ability would otherwise have. If she has to resort to a fist fight, she prefers to move somewhere where bystanders won’t see her and ruin her already tenuous reputation.

This was a character eventually meant to appear in Yumei Kakei but the forum more-or-less ended.

Name: D’Ulysses Hōō
Age: 27
Birthday: 4th August
Gender: Male
Height: 185cm (6’01”)
Weight: 177 Ibs (80 kg)
Hair colour: Dyed yellow and red (flame-coloured)
Eye colour: Green
Spoken Languages: English, Latin
Appearance: D’Ulysses is a lean-muscled man with dark skin, manga-like eyes and small goatee; his facial hair is black. He wears his hair in a large segmented Mohican. His body, particularly his chest, back and right arm, are covered in burn scars caused by very severe ice burns. Underneath his normal clothes he wears a special suit that is immune to his Dreamer powers; it takes the form of a close-fitting dark outfit with a leather-like material composing of gloves and boots and covering his shoulders and the upper part of his legs, provided with sets of three holes each, possibly for aerodynamics, and decorated by groups of three thin lines over the arms and legs, with a double set adorning the chest.

Birthplace and Residence: He was born and raised in Procellium Oceanus.

Personality: D’Ulysses is a lively and energetic person with a tendency to go overboard. Nevertheless he is a brilliant motivator and has the uncanny ability to raise the morale of most people with his words and actions; it is rare for him not to like somebody. His enthusiasm for challenges is what makes him strong as he always seems to grow with the challenge; despite this he greatly fears death.

Affiliation: Procellium Oceanus

Official Rank: General of the Military of Procellium Oceanus

Background: He was born into a family of Dreamers and was the youngest of four brothers. They all had similar Dreamer powers and lived happily together before his older brothers joined with the family business: a Cake Shop. D’Ulysses didn’t want to live such a “boring” life so he joined the army instead, against his mother’s wishes.

Other Info: He is ambidextrous and is very good at baking cakes. He has a recurring problem of always burning his normal clothes off. He secretly dislikes and slightly fears Nulo due to the scars he got from him.

Combat Prowess and Powers: D’Ulysses is an extremely proficient close range combatant with or without a weapon in his hands. He prefers to fight close combat over longer ranged combat as it allows him to cause more damage. D’Ulysses’ preferred weapons of choice are his personalised specialised twin kujang that have a series of ornate decorations on them; he uses a specialised flamethrower for longer ranged combat.
D’Ulysses has the power of Fire Mimicry. At the moment this enables him to set any part of body or his whole body ablaze at will with the flames burning at over 1000˚C; this power renders his body entirely fireproof and extremely resistant to very high temperatures. He currently cannot manipulate fire, cannot generate fire from his body and cannot project the fire that is on his body when it is ablaze. Anything that touches him while he is ablaze will burn or be incinerated save for his special suit, his specialised weapons and anything that doesn’t burn at the temperature he burns at. He can cloak his twin kujang in his flames and powers his flamethrower using the flames from his body; they were both forged using his father’s Dreamer power.

Level of Power: Awakened

I made this character for Ikizumari but I couldn't (and still can't) think of a way to integrate her into the plot...

Name: Nephthys “Nepha”
Birthday: 6th June
Gender: Female
Height: 145cm (4’09”)
Weight: 83.8Ibs (38kg)
Affiliation: None
Spoken Languages: Coptic Egyptian, Greek, Egyptian Arabic, German
Nation of Power Acquisition: Egypt
Appearance: She is a young dark-skinned girl with facial features that strongly resemble that of ancient Egyptians. He black hair is intricately braided, falling past her neck, and her icy brown eyes are quite large (anime-style) without appearing abnormal.

Personality: Nephthys is a naturally curious little girl, fitting of her young age and while not completely naïve, she is prone to believing certain things a little too easily. She tends not to trust men and despite her pre-pubescence she seems to be a fervent misandrist; depending on how males treat her she can become overwhelmingly feral and violent towards them.

History: It is unknown where she was born or where or how she lived up until the age of six. At that point she had started to become notorious around her area for being a troublesome thief that had seemingly no fear of authority and had escaped capture for years. Somehow Nephthys has survived by herself, in the streets, for at least three years. She is currently dwelling in Alexandria.

Bio: Nephthys is a remorseless kleptomaniac and has been for as long as anyone can remember. Due to this, and her life of thievery, she has accumulated skilful yet animalistic agility and movement that a Parkour practitioner would be proud of. Some of the things she has stolen using her power include: the colours from a flag, a man’s skin (literally), a fish’s ability to breathe underwater, a man’s ability to speak German, a man’s height, the velocity of several vehicles and several decades of life from a man’s lifespan.

Abilities: She can ‘steal’ things regardless of their nature; therefore what she steals is not limited to just physical objects but extends to abstract concepts as well. For example she could steal a person’s age, rob a person’s mass or thieve time; she can even steal another WMD’s powers. Once stolen the object in question is stored inside a separate dimension that is connected to her until she decides to use it. She doesn’t quite understand her power or how it works yet; sometimes it activates involuntarily and she will ‘steal’ something by accident. However she can only steal things that explicitly belong to someone or something.

This character would've been used in Bleach Resurgence in place of Livius Abel but his zanpakutō didn't resonate with me at the time.

Name: Nenshen “Zero” Frido
Birthday: 23rd December
Affiliation: Gotei 13
Rank: 11th Division Captain
Race: Shinigami
Gender: Male
Height: 195cm (6’05”)
Weight: 192Ibs (87kg)
Eye Colour: Gold
Hair Colour: Blonde
Appearance: Nenshen is a fair-skinned man with a typical pretty-boy style; he has spiked up hair, cool eyes, long eyelashes, earrings, thin lips and a baby face. Nenshen is also quite muscular and has a well defined body. He wears a sleeveless shihakushō that has no shitagi and an open kosode.
Personality: In a normal environment Nenshen is very vain, narcissistic and takes great pride in his appearance. Despite this he is quite respectful, will carry out his duties as best as he can and is very insightful into a person’s nature and methods. Nenshen’s personality changes drastically when in combat; he becomes extremely focused, entirely emotionless and thinks only of defeating his opponent(s). This is what earned him the nickname “Zero”.

History: Not much is known at the current time.

Combat Skills: Nenshen is a very skilled overall but is most skilled in hakuda, being a formidable master hand-to-hand combatant; it is his most preferred method of combat. He is more than capable of taking down much larger foes with ease and combined with his immense strength, endurance and eye for battle he is a dangerous adversary. Nenshen is also a proficient swordsman but not nearly as good as he is an unarmed combatant. He is also a capable kidō practitioner and can fire off low-to-mid level spells without the incantation. However Nenshen is relatively immobile in comparison to others of his level and while he can use shunpo he is not very quick; he makes up for it with his quick reflexes. Nenshen has very strong spiritual power with reiatsu to match and his spiritual energy is gold in colour.

Zanpakutō: Zennō no Jihi (Mercy of the Almighty)
Sealed appearance: It takes the form of a 1.2 metre long katana with a gold tsuba shaped like the omega symbol ‘Ω’. Its hilt-wrapping and sheathe are pure white.
Shikai release: Nenshen holds Zennō no Jihi above his head and releases by the command “Judge all of creation

Shikai appearance: Its blade lengthens slightly and becomes completely white with a gold coloured edge.

Shikai special abilities: Zennō no Jihi is mainly a melee styled zanpakutō with a powerful special ability. After absorbing some of Nenshen’s spiritual energy Zennō no Jihi can drastically increase the kinetic energy of almost anything its blade cuts to the point of combustion or explosion; no matter what the material or substance is or how it is structured (as long as it is in a solid or liquid state), it will always combust/explode extremely violently a few moments after being cut by the blade (due to being infused with spiritual energy). However using this ability consumes a vast amount of Nenshen’s spiritual energy. The only things immune to this power are sentient beings (humans, Shinigami, Hollow etc.) and spiritual weapons (zanpakutō, Fullbring, reishi weapons etc.). The size and power of the combustion/explosion depends on what is actually cut and how much spiritual energy is used.

Bankai name: Zennō Hakai (Almighty Destruction)
Bankai release: Nenshen re-sheathes Zennō no Jihi and then throws the zanpakutō, tip facing down, at the ground underneath him whilst initiating bankai. This creates a large explosion and an extreme release of reiatsu that engulfs Nenshen and releases bankai.
Bankai appearance: Zennō Hakai takes the form of a pair of pure white forearm and foreleg gauntlets that have intricate gold ornate designs on them, pure white metal-clad skin tight gloves and metal-clad boots. Nenshen’s attire changes: his shihakushō is replaced by a long white sleeveless robe-like jacket, which opens up at the waist and has a single gold bilateral line, and white hakama that are tucked into the foreleg gauntlets.

Bankai special abilities: Zennō Hakai can now drastically increase the kinetic energy of almost anything within a hundred-metre radius of Nenshen to the point of combustion or explosion; using his hands, Nenshen can freely manipulate where the induced combustion/explosion occurs and how intense the combustion/explosion is. Zennō Hakai can now also combust/explode any material or substance regardless of what state of matter it is in, as long as the material or substance is in Nenshen’s range. This special ability can only be performed after Zennō Hakai has been ‘charged’ by rapidly consuming some of Nenshen’s spiritual energy and surrounding reishi, turning it into kinetic energy and then storing it within the gauntlets for use; for Zennō Hakai to charge spiritual energy and reishi for consumption Nenshen must stay perfectly motionless with his hands together as if in prayer, rendering him totally immobile and left completely vulnerable to attack. Like in shikai, this process consumes a tremendous amount of Nenshen’s spiritual energy and the only things immune to this power are sentient beings (humans, Shinigami, Hollow etc.) and spiritual weapons (zanpakutō, Fullbring, reishi weapons etc.).

Bankai technique(s):
Tengoku Bakudan (Heaven Bomb): A very taxing technique that enables Nenshen to induce an explosion of pure energy. The attack is extremely powerful and can be aimed at anything within the his range but depletes all of Zennō Hakai’s charged spiritual energy and reishi.

Tensuto (Heaven Strike): At the instant of a strike, using either his hands or feet, a combustion/explosion occurs simultaneously drastically increasing the power of the blow.

Tengoku no Junkyōsha (Heavenly Martyr): Zennō Hakai’s ultimate technique. Nenshen first charges spiritual energy and reishi for thirty consecutive seconds then violently self-detonates; the detonation quite easily exceeds the power of a megaton atomic bomb. All traces of the Nenshen’s body and zanpakutō are destroyed in the explosion.

I forgot about this one. This is an original character I created for the Accel World Universe, just for the hell of it. I might clean up the profile a bit, just for the hell of it, though I'll probably have to do more research on the wiki, or read the light novel again.

Grey Sabre (Eternal Bladeworks)

Appearance: Grey is an anthropomorphic bunny that resembles an android. His body is tall and thin, and is a pure chrome color with dark impressions all over his body, shaped like arrows, especially the one directly on top of his head between his large ears. Grey’s legs look like a rabbit’s as well; they are bent and jointed to make his running and jumping more fluid and easy. Unlike a rabbit, he has no tail, but there are two greyish ribbons hovering weightlessly in the air behind him horizontally, one end connected to his waist. They seem fragile and flow gently with his movement or in the wind. Grey’s eyes are a bright silver color.

Active abilities: Grey Sabre is a close ranged swordsman. Around his hip, a single silver band hangs with six sheathed swords (three on the right, three on the left), all identical and silver in color. When unsheathed, these swords’ cutting ability surpasses most other bladed weapons, easily able to stand against Black Lotus’ Absolute Cutting Property. Grey usually holds two at a time when fighting at high speeds, slashing apart his target unawares, giving him the potential to fight against legions of opponents at once without a problem.

While all six of his swords are copies, Grey also holds the original. When he initially materializes, the sleek silver scabbard is lying on the ground beside him. He normally places it in his belt when he’s not using it, completely disregarding its existence when using the other six. However, when Grey is using his Killer Attacks, he wields this sword alone after he sheathes the other six.

His first special ability is Blade of Faith. Grey draws the original sword from its sheath and wields it with both hands. The blade begins to glow bright white as Grey’s eyes begin to glow silver, leaving an after image of them trailing behind by an entire second as he moves at high speeds. Grey’s sword carries immense destructive power for thirty seconds, allowing him to cleave through any defenseless opponent in a moment. Unless the opponent puts up a sufficient defense to block against the attack, the strike from the Blade of Faith is guaranteed to strike down the opponent with a single stroke of the blade. However, due to its nature, this attack is a ‘kill one enemy no matter how high their level’. This also means that this attack is a ‘kill one enemy no matter how low their level’. He can only target a single avatar in a single instinct, leaving him open when faced with enemies who can keep up with him.

His second special ability is One Stroke, One Life. Unlike Blade of Faith, this attack focuses completely on precision, rather than destructive force. Grey takes the scabbard in one hand as he takes it out of his belt and grips his other hand around the hilt tightly. He focuses for exactly five seconds before seeming to vanish from the perception of the opponent. He usually reappears behind the target, sheathing his sword once more, even though he is never seen to have unsheathed it. Every single one of the targets he passed by will seem to be unscathed until he sheathes his sword completely, and wounds abruptly open up all over their bodies in a second, leaving deep wounds. While this technique has no technical limit to the number of targets he strikes, the more he attacks at once, and the further they are spread apart, the longer it takes from him to complete his strikes. And rather than disappearing, he is simply moving at high speeds. If he is intercepted by another fast opponent, or even blocked, the move will be cancelled and no harm will be done to any of the targets.

Passive abilities: Grey is a metal color, and so his has several indirect immunities, such as to stoked flames, poison/acid, and the cold. However, direct physical attacks are stronger against him. Ironically, Grey specializes in close combat. To make up for this, he is extremely light and quick, giving him superior evasion and speed. He is considered to be the most agile duel avatar in all of Accel World’s history, and is one of the fastest.

History: Grey Sabre is the unofficial ‘Silver King’. All the other kings, excluding the current Red King, became level 9’s at approximately the same time. Grey would have been one of them, but hesitated upon learning of the harsh rules to become level 10. He shared the Black King’s opinion, to an extent. He believes that even with a nonaggression pact, eventually they would grow tired of level 9 and seek a higher level. They would then try to use loopholes in the pact and kill one another through shameful and underhanded methods—which he hated. While he would have gladly partaken in a straight forward all-out war between the kings, he wanted no part in a heinous ploy of trickery and backstabbing bloodshed. As such, he never used the points to become level 9, even though he can at any time. By doing this, he does not have to worry about being directly involved if the kings do begin fighting meaninglessly like he predicted, though he hopes it doesn’t come to that. Due to his virtuous nature, the other kings let him be. When Black Lotus beheaded Red Rider, Grey Sabre was present and found it amusing that she would rebel, even if he detested the way she killed him. As such, he respects her goals but disagrees with her way of attaining them.
Grey does not have a legion and is considered a ‘freelancer’, preferring to do things on his own. Despite still being a level 8, his expertise in combat and superior neuro-reaction puts him on par easily with level 9’s, making him a one man army. Grey promotes the idea of fair play and is always taking it upon himself to deal with shameful tactics used by people such as Nomi.

I played around with is concept a bit, and ended up with something I would never use. Too late to worry about now, though I may use the concept for his zanpakutou for something else entirely. Maybe.

Naoko Shihōin
Height: 6’0”

Weight: 177 lb.

Appearance: Naoko has matted dark hair that drapes over his eyes, long enough that it extends to hang just above his shoulders in an unkempt fashion. He wears the standard shinigami outfit, only altered so that it appears wider, like Arabic robes, with a hood that he may pull up. When he leaves the hood down, it can be mistaken for a scarf around his neck. Instead of sandals, Naoko wears thin shoes with pointed ends that don’t make a sound when he walks. Naoko’s eyes are a deep brown.

Personality: Naoko is laidback and joking, often teasing others and giving them nicknames. Naoko is very frank and unconcerned with many things outright, but has a strong sense of pride and loyalty. If he sees something as a potential danger, he will not hesitate to take independent action. If his own pride is wounded, he will also take action then. As such, his individualist nature makes it difficult for him to work with others well. As an assassin, he is extremely talented, finding no remorse in taking the lives of those he does not know.

Zanpakutou: Jinn

Sealed state: Jinn exists as two curved knives hidden up Naoko’s sleeves, able to be drawn quickly for combat.

Release command: Serve on the plain of Man,

Shikai description: The two knives morph into vajra, thick and firm handle-like weapons held in his hands. The vajra prove to be extremely tough and stubborn in combat, able to deal forceful offensive strikes and defend against attacks extremely well.

Shikai abilities: The vajra’s ends split off from the main handle and fly around on long indestructible cords, swinging around like whips. The ends of these can slash through nearly anything, leaving scars on the ground and surrounding walls as Naoko spins and twirls the handles to direct these whips. The range of these whips is meant to eliminate any blind spots around Noako.

Bankai: Majlis Al-Jinn

Bankai description: Naoko pushes his two vajra together and they merge into a golden genie lamp that Naoko holds in his hands.
Bankai abilities: Naoko summons clusters of smoke from the tip of the lamp that form into the robust upper body of a man. This man takes on several forms—one made of rock and gravel, one made of frozen ice, one made of metal, and so on. Each for has different abilities for Naoko to utilize in a variety of situations, giving him incredible diversity. Majlis Al-Jinn is reputedly one of the most versatile ranged zanpakutou.

A priliminary idea I considered for Resurgence, but shafted soon after.

Reyna Pallas

Zanpakutou: Princeps

Sealed state: Her zanpakutou is a single gladius that is sheathed in her belt.

Release command: Hail the common people,

Shikai description: Her single gladius morphs into two blades with flamboyant red hilts that resemble the wreaths of Caesars. Each blade is short, as a gladius would be, and extremely flexible, able to handle any blow when blocking.

Shikai abilities: When used, the length of the gladii change constantly at Reyna’s will. They can shorten and lengthen instantly, able to reach up to 15 ft. at its longest, while remaining connected. This gives Reyna incredible range and allows her to use the swords as spears when necessary. These blades can also disconnect in various sections, linking together with three chains between each segment as the bladed lengthens to thirty feet at max length. Though the blade is harder to control like this, the errant movements of the segments makes it difficult to get close without being shredded by the blades.

This was one of my character from Reverto Ex Vir Aevum, which was basically a fanfic influenced by the concept of the Campione light novel. Great concept, poorly executed story (with the exception of a few parts).

“Mobile Fortress” Svanhildr Víðarr

Age: Looks in his twenties and is currently not aging, though he is several hundred years old

Affiliation: The devil king of Scandinavia and is in charge of the Bloodlust Normans.

Appearance: Van appears to be a young pale skinned guy with a blue iris sparkling with an unknown expression. Van has dark flat hair that sometimes hangs in his eyes. He always wears a warm coat made of some kind of animal hide around the collar, but is short sleeved. He wears a pair of thick pants and boots also made of animal hide. Over his right eye, he wears an eye patch due to clearly lacking an eye. His ears have an elfish quality to them that sometimes leads people to believe he is descended from an elf.

Personality: Van appears to be an overconfident person on meeting who enjoys and savors displays of pride and ego. He strongly believes that as long as a person is enjoying what they are doing and holds no regrets, then there is no problem with it. He believes that true friends can settle a dispute with a short sparring with their fists and wishes to enjoy the world to its fullest, rather than being stressed about things or letting himself believe things have become boring. He claims to love humans, as they always surprise him. He has a love of fighting Heretic Gods, but not because he is bored like some of his colleagues, or because he wants more Authorities, but because he respects a good bout with powerful deities and wishes to acknowledge others with strength similar to his own. As such, he upholds his honor to the highest degree, being disgusted with things like betrayal, self-sacrifice, and lying.

History: Svanhildr used to have two eyes—this goes without saying. As a member of the Bloody Horde (which would later become the Bloodlust Normans), he was trained to use both magic and weapons extremely well. His ability with magic was slightly above average, as was his combat skill, making him a prominent member of the Bloody Horde. He was one of the few people who could kill a Divine Beast one-on-one with his sword Hrunting, and he was widely looked up to for his skill. However, this did not last long. There came a dire situation where a heretic god somehow succeeded in kidnapping a woman from the area where Van lived and ascended back into the astral plane (called the Ginnungagap to these people) along with her. In order to save her, Van was determined to enter the Ginnungagap, but did not know how. Another god, by the name of Mímir offered a cup of water that could give him the wisdom he needed just by drinking it. Svanhildr accepted without a second thought, and ended up being tricked. He lost his right eye in addition to the right to wield Hrunting as anything more than a mere sword, reducing his combat ability by several times. Even so, Van gained the wisdom and hyper-intuition he needed to enter the Ginnungagap and departed immediately. Henceforth, he proceeded to enter combat with Thor and managed to slay the god as well as rescue the young woman he had kidnapped. Immediately following, Van became a Campione and married the young girl. Not too long later, he learned that a person close enough to him wielded to capability of using Hrunting, which was now useless to him, and so, even after his first woman died of old age next to his immortality, he met another woman sworn to be his sword and partner, one after the other, until he finally met Bayloupe. Though he claims to love and care for each one of these woman, he never loved more than one at a time, nor did he ever marry after the first’s death.

Abilities: Van has a significant amount of magical ability, specializing in Christian and Norse spells, particularly those involving support. He has read and memorized every holy book and epic he knows the name of, giving him an immense amount of knowledge. Due to the incident with his right eye, Van also has an affinity for hyper-intuition, allowing him the luxury of acting recklessly on instinct and having a high chance of making the correct choice. Van is a warrior of [Steel], allowing his power to expand exponentially when facing serpents.

Svanhildr slew the Norse heretical god, Thor, in order to become a Campion, and so gained the gods abilities over whatever is associated to the god.

Járngreipr: Is a pair of gloves that manifest on Yvon’s hands, giving him the power to grip anything, no matter what it is, without harm. This follows the ideal of ‘being able to grip evil, no matter how acidic or slippery it may be’. As such, these gloves grant him the power to grab shadows or dust as well as lava or dry ice, all without problem.

Megingjörð: Svanhildr manifests a belt around his waist, which instantly grants him superhuman strength, allowing him to carry a mountain or toss a building. He has the following tools hooked to the belt;

Mjölnir: Svanhildr’s most powerful Authority, it is a small hammer that manifests on his belt. Despite its size and short range, it has the destructive power to level a mountain and recreate entire landscapes. There is a small strap on the end of the handle so that Svanhildr can throw it like a boomerang. No matter what, the hammer always returns to Svanhildr’s hands when lost.

Gríðarvölr: A staff that manifests on his belt, it crackles with electricity when held. Despite having flat ends, the electricity around it gives the staff piercing power beyond any spear or javelin. Like the hammer, this spear cannot be wielded without Svanhildr’s gloves.

Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr: The name of the two goats that pulled Thor’s chariot. This allows Svanhildr to ‘run’ on lightning with speed near or equivalent to a wild beast or vehicle, literally referring to ‘god’s speed’. Due to one of the goats having a lame leg, Svanhildr’s control is sometimes erratic.

Using Thor’s Authorities, Svanhildr managed to slay and usurp Vishnu’s Authority as well.

Trimūrti: Svanhildr can take on three forms—or aspects—of Brahman that symbolize Creation, Maintenance, and Destruction. These can only be activated for five seconds each and have a two minute cooldown period. As Brahma, the creator, Svanhildr can build anything up for the five seconds that it is active. As Vishnu, the maintainer, Svanhildr can prevent anything from being altered in anyway, whether it be positive or negative, creating a ‘neutral zone’. As Vishnu, the destroyer, Svanhildr can tear anything down, whether it be terrestrial or extraterrestrial. With each incarnation, an intangible avatar manifests behind Svanhildr along with the surge of power.

After defeating Khonsu, the Egyptian gambling god of the moon, he usurped the gods Authority.

Khonsu: Van summons forth a small coin the size of a quarter. It is completely polished, as if the entire thing is a mirror, reflecting everything from any direction. Van flipped the coin, and when he catches it, any number from one through one hundred shows on the surface of the coin. Immediately afterward, time freezes around him. It lasts for the exact amount of seconds that is shown on the coin. (As time has stopped, it’s not truly reasonable to say that it lasts for a certain amount of seconds. Rather, time is ‘added’ into reality, but only Van, the user, can experience it. This allows him to move from place to place while everything is frozen. From an outside point of view, it is as if he is teleporting. Van can bring anyone into the extra amount of time by touching them, but once physical contact is broken, they will be frozen as well. While this is active, nothing that is frozen can be affected, though if Van were to fire a gun at someone while frozen, the bullet would fly as far as it could without being affected, until it touched its target. Then it would freeze and wait until time continues before hitting its target at point blank.

Another devil king, same story. I have a lot of concepts for her; right now, she's properly and fully adapted into a Heavenly Beast I'm holding onto until the right time comes to use her character. If that ever happens.

Mei-Fong Lu-Xiao-Ming

Appearance: Mei-Fong is a beautiful Chinese woman with dark hair tied into two buns on either side of her head. She wears Han Dynasty mandarin gowns that bare her thighs and calves and she wears a pair of flats. Her skin is white like jade and she has a thin frame; pianist fingers, fragile face, and tall. However, her physique is not a proper representative of her monster like strength.

Personality: Mei-Fong is a highly conceited woman who considered herself to be the most splendid and cherished person in existence. When weighing herself against the lives of every ‘commoner’ in the world, she believes she is worth far more. She believes that she has entered the realm of divine presence and has been offered a spot among the gods, which she declined, and acts based on her heavy pride. She believes that those who are not worthy of hearing her voice should pierce their eardrums upon hearing it and gorge out their eyes upon seeing her. While her belief of her strength being on the level of divinity is not entirely delusional, and massive ego and pride make it dangerous to converse with her without watching one’s words. As the pinnacle of martial prowess, she cherishes a proper battle and dreams of challenging another warrior spirit one on one on equal terms. As such, her consistent looking down on others may be a result of her wish to incense others in order to make them attack her passionately, only for her to be disappointed by the lacking results. She is capable of respect and praise, so long as the one in question performs an act worthy of catching her eye, such as choosing reckless and arrogant action over cowardly and shameful retreat.

History:

Mei Fong slew Boreas, the Greek god of winter and the cold north winds, giving her the ability to summon blizzards.

Mei Fong slew the conjoined representation of the Chines zodiac, giving her twelve different incarnations. Each of these incarnations can only be used once every twenty-four hours after use.

1st Rat: Mei Fong gains the power to burrow through the earth or mountains without trouble.

2nd Ox: Mei Fong gains immeasurable physical strength.

3rd Tiger: Mei Fong’s fingers gain incredible cutting ability, able to slash apart solid steel.

4th Rabbit: Mei Fong gains incredible speed, able to even run across water.

5th Dragon: Gives Mei Fong the power to fly.

6th Snake: Mei Fong sheds her injuries and sickness, allowing herself to become healthy.

7th Horse: Mei Fong summons a flaming horse from the sky to crash down into the earth like a meteor.

8th Goat (Ram): Gives Mei Fong incredible charging ability, allowing her to rush forward with a goat avatar over her, spearing anything in her path.

9th Monkey: Increases Mei Fong’s flexibility and limberness.

10th Rooster: Gives Mei Fong the power to seal one Authority after being dealt a large amount of damage by it.

11th Dog: Mei Fong’s senses expand, allowing her to smell and hear things around her with bestial senses.

12th Pig: Mei Fong gains the power to heal her wounds quickly, regenerating wounds over a matter of minutes.

Another devil king who's character has greatly changed since this concept.

Lady Fedosia Martel

Age: Impossible to tell. Looks like a fully developed young woman. (Has lived for several centuries)

Affiliation: Noblewoman of the Martel house, living as a countless in a mansion with ceramic servants. She is a devil king and Europe’s most powerful witch.

Appearance: Upon seeing Fedosia’s face, one would immediately know that she is a witch, even for one who knows nothing about magic. She looks eternally youthful with a palpable dark aura and a crafty look in her eyes. With an age impossible to guess at, she wears a backless black dress and silk black gloves that extend up past her elbows. She had long straight dark hair and fair skin and wears heels that give her an extra few inches in height, making up for her original short 5’3”.

Personality: Fedosia is an unreadable woman. She always seems calm and holding ulterior motives, patiently watching as things play out, weighing her options. She has a permanent air of elegance and superiority where she can watch towns be burned next door and calmly drink her tea as she considers how to respond, much like an expert chess player seeing his pieces being taken out. Fedosia has a sadistic nature where she is amused by human conflict, watching people’s emotions affect their actions as if watching an enjoyable show. As such, Fedosia honestly feels that she is superior to others and will admit such without hesitation.

History:

Abilities: Fedosia is currently the most powerful witch and so can use a number of powerful spells from all sorts of myths. However, her specialty is witchcraft and black magic, making her a very dangerous magician as she sometimes uses her magic to interfere with the flow of life in order to witness the results.

Fedosia killed Set and usurped his Authority. It is a was scepter that can control sandstorms and sinkholes. Fedosia can also use it to turn anything into ceramic with a mere touch of her scepter, but to do it to people, she must trick them into revealing their ‘secret name’. She can henceforth turn them into ceramic statues and force them to do her bidding until they either shatter or are freed from the spell.

Fedosia killed Amatersu no Mikoto and usurped her Authority to fire arrows made from the surrounding light, though she can’t fire more than four in a single moment. She can use the bow itself to gather light together and fire a single powerful arrow, though this can only be used during the day. It has the power to cut through moon-based magic.

Fedosia killed a Jinn from Muslim mythology and usurped the Authority to turn her own body’s properties into a gaseous state, giving her the power to float and fit into the smallest holes.

Also fixed this one. It seems that I like to hang onto certain character designs.

Lord Charles Saint-Richelieu

Age: Forever remaining at 25, he has lived for seventy-five years

Affiliation: Supreme commander and devil king of the Holy Crusaders and the most powerful templar.

Appearance: Charles is a powerful looking man who stands tall and proud. He has short blonde hair and emerald green eyes as well as a face set with determination. He constantly wears a set of nearly impregnable armor without a helmet and a long billowing cape. He carries a broad sword with a golden hilt, large enough for him to rest the tip in the earth and his hands can be held out horizontally before him to rest on the pommel.

Personality: Charles is a firm and resolute person who stands for his beliefs without any interest in his own well-being. From the moment he was born, he has openly refutes the rule of heretic gods and wished to wipe them, saying that the one true God bluntly denied any god aside from himself and that all others are fakes. He also believes that tricking or making deals with gods is shameful and cowardly. He is the type that would sooner face an opponent head on and crush them with his sword before he would humor their selfish desires through negotiation. Charles accepts his duty as a role model for his fellow Christians and leads at the head of the Holy Crusaders as both the spear head and the shield, valuing the lives of each individual soldier.

History:

Abilities: As a templar, Charles specializes in Christian magic and exorcising, capable of using powerful spells to wipe out creatures demonic or sinful in nature. Much of his combat magic is modified to have stronger effect on pagan gods; a unique modification only plausible for a god-slayer such as himself.

After slaying the Incan god of creation, Viracocha, Charles gained the Authority of Viracocha’s crown, which gave him the ability to harness solar energy and condense it, creating miniature suns that he can use to fire solar beams, flash bombs, or other varying uses of solar power.

Charles slew Gaia, the mother earth goddess, and gained the Authority of Dominance, which allows him to take devastating attacks against his body and remain firm, like trying to bomb the earth. He can shrug of most blunt force attacks, but is less effective against slashes and piercing, such as swords and knives. In conjunction with his armor, it proves to be a powerful defense.

Charles slew the fallen angel Azazel, giving him the power to move with god’s speed. Charles cannot keep up the speed for too long, but can use it in short bursts to increase the force of his attacks or evade attacks.

Made her during a time I was interested in antiheroes. Not the best, but I like to see her as a pretty good start.

‘Black Lacer’ Samantha Tilburg

Age: Forever nineteen, she has lived for twenty-five years.

Affiliation: Devil king of the new world and self-proclaimed super villain.

Appearance: Sam is a short gothic girl who wears a black tank top, tight jeans, a pair of black boots, and a leather jacket. She wears black eyeliner and even her hair is black with the bangs cut in a semicircle but still low enough to cast a shadow over her eyes. When she’s acting as Black Lacer, she wears a formal tailcoat and a silver and red domino mask that only hides her upper face from view. The mask is enchanted with powerful concealing magic, completely obscuring her face from others without alerting them that a spell is in effect.

Personality: Samantha is an anarchist who loves comics and violent video games. Ever since she was a child, she’s been course, crude, rude, and violent. She purposely picks fights and bullies others and never reflects on her actions in a negative light. However, she is not merely acting rebellious. She is acting as a villain as she sees is proper, setting standards for herself. She may cuss someone out and give them the finger, but she will still respect them so long as they stick to certain predetermined standards for what they do. All things she does must be done in a particular way that properly defines her as a ‘villain’, rather than just another crazy anarchist. It is because of these standards that she slayed a god and became a devil king, which only further fueled her ambition. She has an alter ego who acts devil king to hide Sam’s true identity, much like a villain in comics. She rules as dictator over the United States’ magical side, but her standards make her tolerable and even preferred to some other devil kings in the eyes of some.

History:

Abilities: Sam has no particular specialty in magic, so she simply learns whatever spells are convenient to her, using the vast amount of magical ability privileged to god-slayers.

Samantha challenged the divine creature known as Arachne, who had part of Athena’s divinity, and usurped the Authority to allow her to grow eight extra arms that can weave divine thread with magic. The arms are powerful and can knock down buildings or hold up Samantha’s short body and the thread is strong enough to ensnare divine monsters and even entangle heretic gods.

Iwao was going to be important in the arc following the one I've already written. Never found time...

Iwao Kagamine-sama

Age: Looks forty but has lived for nearly two-hundred years.

Affiliation: Devil king of Japan and leader of the Kagamine clan that is in contention with the emperor through politics.

Appearance: Iwao is a tall and thin Japanese man with pale skin who wears a white uwagi draped over his shoulders like a cape of sorts. He wears a normal kimono and hakama beneath the haori and has two swords sheathed on his left hip. He wears white tabi socks and straw sandals and has a calm and reserved expression constantly on his face. He has long black hair, unnatural for his gender, that extends down so the ends barely reach his waist.

Personality: Iwao is a calm and collected man who can be considered the most tame among all the devil kings. He is quiet and thoughtful, yet blunt and critical, making him a dangerous person to anger. Calm as he may seem, Iwao is one of the most ambitious devil kings and intends to take over all of Japan, liberating it from the impotent emperor. However, he wishes to do it properly, not with brute force, so he constantly wars through politics, slowly but surely winning over the people of Japanese wizardry. Iwao is a military genius who knows all about the history from the magician’s point of view. Just like the Bloodlust Normans and Holy Crusaders, his clan is unified and well-trained enough to take down divine beasts and possible a heretic god under his command.

History:

Abilities: Iwao’s magical specialty focuses around Shinto and Buddhist myths, as well as many folk legends. However, his most prominent talent is the same one that gave him the title of god-slayer. His swordsmanship is on the level of divinity—a trait shared by very few others, one being a god-slayer as well.

After slaying the heretic goddess Sigyn, Iwao gained the Authority to create acid that can melt anything it touches away. Only his swords, made of the same material as the bowl used by Sigyn to hold the acid, can withstand the corrosive nature, so he coats the blades with the acid to improve their offensive ability.

After slaying the heretic divine nymph, Echo, Iwao gained the power to reflect sounds in an echo. While he can normally just reflect them, he can amplify them to create massive shockwaves of varying strength.

Last Devil King, also another character who was going to gain more important in the following arc. Funnily enough, though I didn't write it all down, I still have the ideas in my mind. Maybe I should write them down before I forget...

Nwst Eleazar Elsayed

Age: looks in his sixties but has lived for one-hundred-sixty years

Affiliation: Devil King of Africa and Pharoah of Egypt, he is reputedly the most powerful living wizard, his skill on par with the queen of witches.

Appearance: Eleazar is normally seen wearing the attire of an Egyptian pharaoh—a gold neck piece, bare chest, tunic, sandals, and a flamboyant headdress. He has dark Arabic toned skin and his body is that of an athletic elder, clearly aged but still in shape. When he travels, especially when leaving Egypt, he wears a custom purple suit and boots as well as a cloak attached around his neck. He has dark brown hair and wears a pair of glasses to aid his faulty sight. He always carries his crook and flail with him, even if they cannot be seen.

Personality:

History:

Abilities: Eleazar slew Hypnos, the god of sleep, and gained the Authority to put those around him in a deep sleep or wake them up. He can also live on without sleeping for as long as he likes and takes full advantage of this.

After slaying Shu, Eleazar gained power over the winds, allowing him to create deafening whirlwinds and hurricanes, capable of blowing away tanks with his breath.

Level 4 that never happened for Game of Faith. I already have a lot of characters there, so I want to focus only on the important ones that will affect the story if I add any more. Still, love his design. I have a paragraph somewhere going into more detail about his ability, but I don't see a point in posting that.

Heisuke Ryuunosuke

Appearance: A tall man, standing at about 6’7”, with the build of a basketball player. He wears a brown hoodie, jeans, and sneakers and has dirty blonde hair, like a delinquent. He sometimes wears a ceramic clown mask that is a cross between ‘tragedy’ and ‘comedy’, wielding the depressed eyes of tragedy, but the amused smile of comedy.

Personality: Normally, he is an average teenage boy, albeit tall, who seems to have no particular qualms between living a completely normal life or a delinquent’s life. He never runs from a fight in the streets against level 0s, usually refusing to use his power, and can relax with boys and girls alike to waste away time. But, despite never seeming nervous or worried, he is incapable of looking at another person in the eye unless he’s fighting them. Heisuke is always looking toward the side or the wall, or the sky when talking to others. He doesn’t mean to be disrespectful—it’s purely force of habit. However, it all changes when he puts his mask on. He becomes an avenger of justice without identity. If he sees crime during the day, he will act as a dark hero might, finding the person by night to punish them. He strongly believes that no one but his enemy should see him performing good actions, or else it would just look like he was doing it too improve his image or look good in front of others. So he goes out of his way to hide his good intentions and takes heinous action when he is discovered.

Ability: Diamond Shift- Ryuunosuke can change the hardness of anything he touches. Simply put, he can make his body and clothes possess a level of hardness surpassing titanium, making it unable to be broken, bent, pierced, or scratched by any known element or alloy known to man. Conversely, whatever he touches becomes the hardest substance known to man, depending on how hard he makes it. This serves for both offense and defense, allowing him to use a mere wooden bat to bash in a machine made to withstand ten times the world's greatest recorded earthquake. His ability also works in the reverse; he can make anything he touches soft and brittle, breaking easily under weak force

He can affect the other forms of hardness, such as plasticity. He can make something capable of bending flexibly before returning to its original shape or punch a hole in the wall to form an indent without breaking or returning to its original form. He can also make liquids viscous and prevent them from flowing, or make even syrup run more easily than water, so long as he maintains contact so that he can manipulate grain sizes. Since he does not actually affect molecular bonds, he cannot effectively change a liquid to a solid by making the substance 'hard'.

He can also increase the ‘rebound’ hardness of anything that comes into contact with him, allowing projectiles and particles to simply bounce off. With this, a wrecking ball would shatter itself with its own momentum and a person would shatter their wrist with a punch. Conversely, he can reduce rebound, stopping objects from bouncing on a concrete and soften collisions.

Considering his level of application and strict limitations, he is a level for esper.

A character I'd created as a human weapon for India in Ikuzumari. I kind of liked his design, but his power just doesn't work for me.

Jyoti Mahendra

Age: 45

Appearance: A swarthy skinned Indian, Jyoti is both tall and broad shoulders, boasting a healthy physique expected of a picturesque ‘man’. He wears a simple white button down shirt that is tight enough to show his tough figure, but not enough to constrict him. Unlike his brethren, he has blue eyes not native to his country, a gift from his late grandmother who was Anglo-Saxon.

History: Jyoti’s grandparents were an odd couple. While India was still a British colony, his grandfather was a working man in northern India who slaved in the fields daily. His grandmother was British, married to a moderately wealthy man who happened to have a chronic illness. It was common for the ‘almost wealthy’ of England to choose to live in India, where their wealth would allow them to live like royalty, due to differing standards between the two countries. Jyoti’s mother and her husband were living in India when he passed away, leaving the diamond mine he owned to Jyoti’s mother alone. Within the same year, she fell in love with one of the workers at the mine and married him, soon giving birth to Jyoti’s father, who in turn gave birth to Jyoti.

Jyoti’s parentage is a little strange, but what is stranger is that both he and his father show no signs of mixed heritage aside from their blue eyes. They lived a fairly affluent life thanks to the diamond mine that continued to provide precious gems, but that practically through it all away when the war began. Jyoti, at the age of twenty, and his parents joined the Quit India Movement, working for a nonviolent revolution, freeing India from British rule. Jyoti’s parents were staunch supporters of Mohandas Ghandi, while Jyoti was simply enraptured by the charisma of the old man. Jyoti often got involved in violent protest, causing trouble for his parents, and often got told off by Ghandi for his youthful recklessness. The relationship between the two quickly became like grandfather and grandson, and Jyoti’s love for Ghandi only grew, along with his recklessness. Ghandi noticed this and performed a traditional prayer for the boy, marking him with his own blood, creating an odd looking tatoo on Jyoti’s left and right forearm.

Ghandi’s death occurring earlier than in normal history. As the war was beginning to wrap up, things were tense in countries everywhere, but India saw it as a chance to break away from Great Britain and gain independence. He was headed to meet with his fellows to plan their actions when he was stopped by another Indian, who bowed to Ghandi before proceeding to fire three times, right into the old man’s chest. Ghandi nearly died immediately, and Jyoti, who was accompanying Ghandi, witnessed the entire thing.

The killer immediately surrendered with a heartfelt apology aimed directly at Jyoti. However, Jyoti was long past gone. Moments later, the entire city of New Delhi vanished off the face of the earth.

It happened in steps. Though there were no witnesses at the time, it is now certain certain that the first things to disappear were Ghandi’s body, and then the assassin’s. The bullets inside Ghandi’s body were closest to Jyoti, so they imploded first, followed by the bullets left in the assassin’s gun. Round objects quickly began to implode, one by one, all around Jyoti, who seemed to lose all cognitive thought. From a distance, all that could be seen were large spots in space turning to darkness before it all merged together into one massive sphere that could not be approached. For nearly six hours, New Dehli did not exist, as no one could approach the spot in any way or even look at it. After those six hours, the space of nonexistence faded and Jyoti walked away from the massive crater in the earth, alone and in a daze. He likely would have moved on to destroy another village if he had not been intercepted and suppressed by the British WMD.

Thanks to negotiations, India is now independent and ruled under democratic powers. Jyoti Mahendra is imprisoned within an underground prison kept a secret from the populace, branded a murderer and monster who killed Ghandi along with hundreds of other people. However, this is just a front; no one aside from the common people believe this story. However, the powers in charge who believe Jyoti’s claim that he saw Ghandi assassinated an exploded against his own will can do little to free him, for the sake of keeping the country in a state of peace.

Abilities: Jyoti’s ability can only be described as ‘creating nonexistence’. It takes the concept of donut holes, darkness, the shades of white and black, and black holes and combines it with round objects. It is certain why it manifests the way it does, but Jyoti’s ability only works on circular and spherical objects. He can supposedly cause matter to collapse on itself, creating an area of highly compressed gravity, to create a vacuum in space, which essentially becomes a black hole. However, they do not function like black holes. There are two kinds of vacuums; a black vacuum and a white vacuum, though they both look the same. When Jyoti creates a black vacuum, it turns into a real vacuum that sucks in anything that exists within an indistinct radius. However, there are limits, such as being unable to suck in matter that greatly surpasses the mass of the object used to create the vacuum. Anything that touches the black holes can be considered to ‘cease exist’, and for a while, it appeared that way. But Jyoti seems to have the ability to spit back out matter after sucking it in. With this, he can make a building disappear and return it to the same spot after word, or eat away a person’s body but return it to normal just as easily. Also, though this is a rare case, several of these vacuums were ‘shattered’ by the British WMD.

Jyoti’s white vacuums literally seem to erase existence. Whatever they surround ceases to register with the mind. A person will still know that a rock in the white vacuum exists, but they will not be able to find it no matter how hard they look. They will not see it, hear it, feel it, or smell it. These white vacuums, unlike their black counterparts, are capable of influencing what is already inside them, rather than outside. Jyoti can invert and distort matter inside white vacuums so long as the mass within stays the same.

Actually had the character and zanpakutō for a quite while, but decided to use other ones instead. She may make an appearance later if I'm lucky.

Name: Jeni Leonardsson
Birthday: 8th March
Affiliation: Gotei 13
Rank: Captain
Race: Shinigami
Gender: Female
Height: 147cm (4’09”)
Weight: 90Ibs (41kg)
Eye Colour: Brown
Hair Colour: Silver
Appearance: She is a short petite pale-skinned woman, with large eyes, thin lips and dainty features. Her straight hair falls down to her neck and over the left side of her face. She also has a very toned physique.

Personality: Despite her delicate appearance Jeni is extremely feisty, aggressive and has very violent tendencies. She has a very tomboyish nature and has a very strong battle-lust befitting of someone of/formerly of the 11th Division. Jeni is fiercely proud, very stubborn and does not like to be looked down upon. She has a short temperament and will fly off the handle when offended; it doesn’t help that she is easily offended by topics about her height or her gender.

History: Not much is known at the current time. She either is or was in the 11th Division.

Combat Skills: Jeni is a very powerful combatant and is deceptively strong to a high extent, as evidence by her ability to easily overpower many members of her own Division and wield her zanpakutō's released forms with maximum efficiency. She is an adept unarmed fighter and can quite easily hold her own against foes many times her size; this proficiency extends into her swordsmanship skills. Where she excels the most is her ability to wield chain weapons; she is exceedingly adept at manipulating the trajectory of her attacks and can even change the direction of projectiles while they are in flight. Overall Jeni is a very reckless, headstrong assailant who prefers to attack relentlessly and give her opponents no time to rest, recover or retaliate; due to this fighting style she has developed a lot of physical endurance and a level of durability. Although Jeni can use shunpo she isn’t as fast as other practitioners, however she is still a nimble on her feet. Jeni has large amounts of spiritual power which is crimson in colour.

Zanpakutō: Ryūsei Hayabusa (Meteor Falcon)
Sealed appearance: It resembles a regular katana but it also has a small metal ball connected to the base of the hilt by a 16cm metal chain. It has a reddish brown hilt-wrapping and sheathe.
Release command: Jeni whirls Ryūsei Hayabusa by its chain connected metal ball and then releases by the command “Smash it away”

Shikai appearance: Ryūsei Hayabusa now resembles a meteor hammer crossed with rope dart. The hammer is a black metal ball the size of a regular football (soccer ball) and is connected by seven metres of black metal chain to the dart, which is golden and has an extremely sharp tip. There is thick red tassel where the chain attaches to the hammer and dart.

Shikai special abilities: Ryūsei Hayabusa is used mainly for mid-to-long ranged melee combat by functioning as either a meteor hammer or a rope dart, or both simultaneously. The hammer is used for bludgeoning, crushing damage and the dart for pinpoint impaling, stabbing damage. The hammer is quite heavy but to Jeni it is effortless to carry and hurl. The metal chain can be extended very far by the Jeni’s force of will.

Shikai technique:
Sensui Hayabusa (Diving Falcon): A technique that triples (quintuples in bankai) the momentum of the hammer/dart after being thrown. A falcon-shaped aura surrounds the hammer/dart while this technique is active. It can be used in both shikai and bankai and can be used in conjunction with other techniques.

Bankai name: Ginga Hayabusa (Galactic Falcon)
Bankai release: Jeni wraps the metal chain around her body and holds each chain end in each hand; then she initiates bankai.
Bankai appearance: Ginga Hayabusa now takes the form of a double-headed meteor hammer. The black metal hammers at each end of the ten metre long black chain now heavily resemble oversized spiked balls with one spike (directly opposite where the chain is attached to the hammer) being larger than the others and resembling the dart in its shikai form. There is a tassel where the chain attaches to each hammer; one hammer has a crimson tassel while the other has a light blue tassel.

Bankai special abilities: Like in shikai Ginga Hayabusa is used mainly in mid-to-long ranged melee combat and is best used for breaking down sturdy defences by utilizing its heavy weight and the high momentum it can produce. Also when Jeni charges spiritual energy into Ginga Hayabusa, the spikes on the hammers become volatile, causing them to release the pent-up energy explosively on striking contact with a surface. Like in shikai the metal chain can be extended very far by Jeni’s force of will.

Bankai techniques:
Moeru Ryūseigun (Blazing Meteor Shower): Ginga Hayabusa absorbs some of Jeni’s spiritual energy and focuses it into the hammer with the crimson tassel, causing the hammer to set ablaze with intense fire; Jeni then violently hurls it at a target. The blazing hammer releases the pent-up flaming energy on striking contact along with an explosive burst of intense fire and heat.

Hyōketsu Ryūseigun (Freezing Meteor Shower): Ginga Hayabusa absorbs some of Jeni’s spiritual energy and focuses it into the hammer with the light blue tassel, causing the hammer to become infused with cold energy and surrounded by sub-zero vapour; Jeni then violently hurls it at a target. The icy hammer releases the pent-up freezing energy on striking contact along with an explosive burst of intense frozen vapour and cold.

If Arrancar characters were ever used in an RP this would've been one that I would've used in it.

Name: Anikkovaa Melu
Rank: Cuatro (4th) Espada

Height: 150cm (4'11")
Weight: 99Ibs (45 kg)
Hollow hole: Right forearm
Hollow mask fragment: Resemble over-ear headphones; the headphones are shaped like skulls and the bridge has fang-like ridges along the top.
Espada tattoo location: Left buttock
Appearance: She is a fair-skinned Arrancar with a slender figure highlighted by her above average sized breasts; she also has neck-length dark blue hair (in a wet look style) and turquoise coloured eyes. She wears a modified Arrancar outfit: her white jacket has shoulder length sleeves with black cuffs and she finishes off her outfit with the regular black sash and white hakama.

Personality: Anikkovaa is very childish, naïve, carefree and has very immature mannerisms. She is rather flighty and rarely takes note of the bigger picture around her usually taking things at face value; however when fighting her personality becomes more sadistic and slightly detached. When not fighting, she usually relies on her Fraccion to keep her informed.

Combat Skills: Anikkovaa is an exceptional wielder of sai and can fight against blade-wielding opponents with surprisingly proficiency. However as her preferred style of combat, she is a dangerous unarmed fighter and master hand-to-hand combatant. She excels at using palm thrusts and can powerfully strike down much larger opponents with ease. She generally fights with a significantly more violent style of aikido, using the weight and momentum of her opponents against them. This is supplemented by her deceptively high level of strength for her tiny frame. Anikkovaa is also a skilful sonído master and her Hierro is very durable allowing her to withstand similar attacks and assaults without much trouble.
Anikkovaa can fire a potent crimson Cero from the palms of her hands and can adeptly fire crimson Bala from the palms of her hands at a rapid rate. In particular her sense of hearing is at a superhuman level. However she is prone to sensory overload which causes her debilitating pain; in her released form she gains a sensory fuse to counteract this problem.
Anikkovaa has very powerful spiritual power that surpasses that of a regular Gotei 13 captain; her reiatsu feels like waves when released. Her spiritual energy is white with a red outline.

Zanpakutō: Ruido (Spanish for "Noise")
Sealed form: It takes the form of a crimson nunti sai. The tsuka is wrapped in a dark red wrapping.
Resurrección release: Anikkovaa holds the sai with both hands, its point directly under her chin, and releases by the command “Vibrate”. Upon release she is engulfed by a large prolate orb of spiritual energy, which she then dissipates with a shockwave that lets off an almighty sonic boom.

Resurrección form: In her released form her Arrancar outfit changes drastically. She loses the jacket, with Hollow-bones shaped like concentric circles covering her breasts and white Hollow-bone bands circling her shoulders and wrists. She also wears black-outlined white form-fitting pants that also completely cover her feet. Loudspeaker-like organs are embedded in the palms of her hands and centre of her torso. She now has a large mouth rimmed with sharp fangs. Her Hollow mask fragment resembles a combination of headphones and a tiara with the tiara section covering her forehead, being made of fangs and the headphones still resembling skulls. Also her dark blue hair becomes wilder in appearance (still in the wet look style) with it now reaching down her back. Her Hollow hole remains on the middle of her right forearm.

Resurrección special abilities: Anikkovaa's offensive abilities increase drastically and she becomes a much more dangerous combatant with her strength and Hierro being increased in particular. She also has can now unhinge her lower jaw allowing her to open her mouth very wide and bite with incredible force. She can now fire her Ceros from her mouth as well as the palms of her hands.

Resurrección techniques:
Niño Ruidoso (Spanish for “Noisy Child”): She can generate powerful concussive sound waves from either the speaker-like organs on her body or from her mouth are strong enough to easily repulse objects over twenty-five tonnes in weight. She can also generate sound waves that vibrate the air at such a high intensity, that they are capable of shattering objects with ease. She can control the loudness and pitch of her sound assaults.

Cero Gritando (Spanish for “Screaming Zero”): By combining her powerful sound waves with her Cero, she can fire a more powerful Cero with a stronger blast force and higher disintegrative power. The Cero Gritando also makes a high-pitched screaming noise when fired instead of the normal Cero sound.

Vibra el Puño (Spanish for “Vibrating Fist”): By vibrating her fists at high speed, she is capable of launching devastating punches and palm thrusts that are much stronger than normal.

Gemelos Sonído (Spanish for “Sound Twins”): By vibrating her body at high speed and adding an additional step into her normal Sonído movement, she is able to generate a number of clone-like afterimages of herself, with up to five of these clones being sustainable simultaneously.

How about we have a little event to help motivate our inclination toward writing?

We can all create a character for a certain category and see what we all come up with. I'm thinking MMORPG character. It can be from any game you like or have played, or maybe a character you'd like to see in SAO, Accel World, .Hack//, or Log Horizon. How about it? I'm curious to see what everyone would come up with.

Fair enough. The concept is still the same, fundamentally. Though tu should try a MMO, even just once. Find a good guild, and it's a fun experience, though time consuming. hace más de un año

Alright, so this is following on exorcist's suggestion. I rather like the character concept:

Anime: Log Horizon

MMORPG: Elder Tale

Name: Nasir

Race: Race of Ritual (low HP, large amounts of knowledge, high magic stats)

Class: Dukun (Southeast Asian derivation of a Medium)
Build: Bow Miko/Shinto Priest
Subclass: Fortune Teller

Guild: Silver Sword (Former)
West Wind Brigade (Current)

Level: 97

Appearance:

Dark skinned with a ready smile, he seems to have boundless energy, constantly willing to push himself to the brink and back. That is in spite of a tired, hollow cast to his eyes that makes it appear as though he hasn't slept in quite some time. A mop of unkempt red hair adorns his head, brushing his ears lightly. He wears clothing much like a Dukun, composed of a long green and white, vertical stripped shirt with wooden toggles holding it together down the front and sleeves covering his hands; a velvet cap with complex golden embroidery, and a cloth, shimmering gold and black divided skirt that reaches halfway down his calves. He wears basic leather sandals. This clothing is meant to be as light as possible, maximizing MP and agility

Much of his body is covered in a complex tatttoo, composed mainly of a continuous line going from feet and hands all the way up to his forehead. This is mostly composed of short bits of straight lines meeting at obtuse angles, though segments are often joined to curved lines surrounding black dots. These same symbols adorn his eyelids, making it appear as though a crude set of eyes is watching when he closes his.

Personality:

Background: Aside from his background in the game, nothing is known, not even by him. He has been in the game long enough that he has died a substantial number of times, in the process losing all memories of the outside world. This world is now the only one he knows, making him more akin to a Person of the Land than a player. However, as a player, he associates mainly with other players. No one remembers him from any point before the apocalypse, and those who know him now only met him recently, though the Silver Sword remains out of contact, preventing any serious investigation. It's made all the stranger by the fact that he's leveled so significantly since Novasphere Pioneers was released, something that isn't possible through solo efforts.

Unlike most, though, he no longer appreciates the concept of death, since it no longer degrades his memories, though others such as Shiroe regard him with uncertainty, as he may well be losing something else with each death instead. As such, he is often the first into battle and, most commonly, using his abilities to draw small amounts of attention and drag crowds back to the tank. Never functioning as the main healer for a group, he is nonetheless integral to many groups, preventing a great deal of incurred damage and drawing attention when needed, despite his low HP (both a factor of his race and his class). He seems driven to prove something in every encounter, and solely blames himself for failures.

Abilities:

Due to his low HP, Nasir depends entirely on high agility and barrier techniques meant to prevent damage. His ability set is focused on those with the least casting time, many of which allow him to move while casting. This makes him incredibly vulnerable to surprise attacks, making him easy pickings for Assassins, despite his level. However, he is surprisingly capable of holding his own in PvP, mainly because of an encyclopedic knowledge of ranged and magic attacks combined with enhanced speed and a number of specifically-tailored items.

So he made his character in the Asian server and ended up in the Yamato server through a fairy ring, o something? That's interesting, since he doesn't have the memories to confirmar that possibility, assuming it happened before the Apocalypse. hace más de un año
whiteflame55 commented…
Yeah, this is the type of character who would have a rather elaborate backstory. Transferring servers would have had to occur before the Apocalypse in order to make it reasonable, though there are a lot of things I'd have to think through as this character evolves. I have some ideas for how his subclass would play a role as well, though those would have to be introduced as the series went along. hace más de un año

This...this is funny. To think we'd pick the same anime and give our characters the same race.

Log Horizon: Elder Tale

“Archbishop” Esther

Class: Cleric

Subclass: Archbishop

Race: Race of Ritual

Level: 93

Guild: None at time of the Apocalypse.

Appearance: The character is modelled after a doll Esther’s parents bought her when she was a little girl. Her avatar sports unnaturally long blonde hair that extends down to her feet, looking perfectly brushed and well-taken care of. Her skin is pale and fragile looking and she has clear blue eyes—all features the Japanese consider exotic. She wears billowing white and gold robes that would belong to a bishop, swallowing her entire figure, and has a mitre of the same colors on her head. She possesses several tattoos over her body, but most are covered by her robes. The one visible tattoo is across her forehead, forming what looks like a closed third eye with wing-like designs spreading away from it. In her hand, she carries a crosier with a symbol at the end that resembles the one between the two words in the Elder Tales title screen.

OOC background: A frail girl since birth, Esther was never able to play with others her age outside and spent most of her time indoors, staring wistfully out the window. She’d take time to watch the weather outside, observing the clouds and the sun’s change in position with the passing months, but this came to an end when she got sick from the pollen and was forced to retreat further into her home, shutting herself away into her room. This is where she discovered online gaming, playing around on other sites a bit before coming to Elder Tale, which became a refuge, a place where she could become part of a community and play with other people, regardless of her physical weaknesses.

In-game background: Esther chose her class and race without thinking too much about practicality, just intending to have fun. And that she did; she soon met a group of players who were easy to get along with and she spent much of her time playing with them, quickly leveling as she supported them as their healer. Before she knew it, the group that she was a part of grew quickly and gained an unofficial name. It became a second home to Esther and she didn’t even properly register the fact that she wasn’t even in a guild.

Then the day came where she happened to mention the general area where she lived online. The unofficial leader of the group demanded more details and Esther obliged, confused by their enthusiasm. The very next day, someone came to her home, knocking on the window and demanding to play with Esther. Esther nearly had a heart attack when she learned that it was the group’s leader, Kanami, in the flesh, along with a few other members of the group. Whether Esther wanted it or not, she was being dragged out of her hideaway quite frequently. Overtime, for some reason, her body got stronger and she began to enjoy herself outdoors as well, able to play with her friends both online and in real life. Esther’s love for the Debauchery Tea Party that gave her this opportunity was boundless. Even after Kanami moved abroad and the Tea Party fell apart, Esther was unfazed. Her life had changed because of her friends—she wanted to do the same for others. So she made her own guild in the game, as she had been planning to do even before the group disbanded, but didn’t invite the other former members of the Tea Party, as Soujirou Seta had. Instead, she invited complete newbies in the game that she was meeting for the first time, building up a new community by helping them out with items and dungeons, giving them advice and pairing them together to help one another. Once the guild was well under way and functioned just fine without her, she appointed someone else a leader and left with a proper farewell, making another guild where she repeated the same process. In total, she repeated this about five times before the Apocalypse came, which happened during an intermediate time where she had left her old guild and had yet to make another one.

Finding herself stuck in the game she was so attached to, Esther wasn’t too stunned, though she thought she was just having a delayed reaction. But the shock and depression never came. She quickly left Akihabara to travel on her own, curious to see more of the People of the Land that now seemed to have their own personalities and learn more about the lore. By the time the goblins began to spawn like wildfire due to the Goblin King event, she was busy searching for the truth behind the Izumo Knight’s disappearance and ended up protecting a village from utter destruction. She is currently traveling across Yamato to improve relations with the People of the Land and plans to go to the adjacent servers to do the same there.

Class skills: Esther has access to all the healing skills available to a cleric. She specializes in burst healing, even capable of getting ‘critical heals’, and possesses what may be the highest instant heal in the entire game (though any situation that might warrant such an overkill spell rarely gives her the chance to actually use it, due to all of the buffs needed and the timing). She relies on her powerful target healing and aoe spells that purify adventurers of debuffs such as poison or paralysis.

Special skills: Esther possesses a special title that classifies as a subclass that is unique to her, granted to her after completing a difficult level 90 quest that was given to her in the cathedral unlocked only after completing a high number of dungeons without targeting any monsters as well as doing several minor quests for NPCs inside the cathedral. Grants Esther a special equipment set and a half dozen special use spells with long cool downs and certain unlock conditions before use.

Equipment: Due to her class and race mix, Esther has abnormally high mp and magic power, but bizarrely low hp that leaves her as fragile as glass at first. To cover these weaknesses, she wears heavy armor that focus on maximizing her defense as well as casting automatic healing spells on herself that heal her in the event that she does get hurt.

Holy Garb of the Apostle- Legendary armor bestowed upon a worthy believer who proves themselves to the Church through a series of good deeds. A set of cloth that doesn’t resemble armor at all, it gains the qualities of defensive gear thanks to an ancient blessing cast on it by its original owner. Grants six skills to the user that provide powerful anti-monster support if the situation demands it (primarily for anti-aggro and zoning. Effective against boss level monsters as well).

Loyal Staff of the Wanderer- A fallen tree bough picked up by a holy man as he traveled. After several years, the piece of wood took the form of a beautiful tool that possesses a great amount of power. Increases magic power and healing power immensely.

Ark of the Covenant- A powerful tool that must never be opened or gazed upon. Restricted to clerics only. Draws upon their faith and converts it into healing power. Increases healing range and lowers cooldown time.

Overskill: Unison Link Network- Esther discovered a unique ability not normally attainable in the game, one that she does not even fully understand. It functions as a parallel to community systems such as guilds, parties, couples, and friend lists, but doesn’t overlap with any of them, nor does it rely on the game’s programmed functions. Esther set up ‘links’ that connect any number of people over any distance (she must be near them to set up the link initially). Those bound by this link can provide support, share items and experience at will, have access to a shared item warehouse, and teleport to one another’s positions instantly. It is incredibly convenient and even functions between adventurers and People of the Land alike (perhaps even monsters, though she’s never tried), but requires mutual agreement among all the members of the link. The link can be terminated by the same mutual agreement, or any individual member can leave at will. For a link to be set up or for someone to join, Esther must be present to hear the consent of all parties. She is reluctant to use this on people she doesn’t know or if she doesn’t have a good reason too, since the intimate nature of this link can end up destroying relationships beyond repair if the people bound by the link don’t already share a strong connection.

A Servant from Nasuverse. I also have an Archer I'm working on, since I'm still annoyed with the weirdness of the two used in the anime.

Caster (Abe no Seimei)

Appearance: Seimei appears as a man in his mid-thirties, though due to his strange lifespan, he was likely older with that same appearance. Seimei himself is confused by this appearance—he wonders if the grail was trying to strike a balance where his magic circuits were at their best and his experience was enough to make full use of them. Therefore, he couldn’t be too old or too young, though Seimei feels he should be a bit older.

Seimei wears a blue kariginu that is so elaborate, even a normal human would assume it was woven from sorcery. He wears geta with the teeth three inches high and his person is decorated with prayer beads, spirit tags, and talismans. He has a bowl cut with his black hair and a unique eboshi placed on top of his head that looks small and narrow enough that a wind should knock it down, though that never happens.

When he is trying to blend in with modern society, Seimei wears a pair of long pants made from cotton, a wool sweater with the sleeves completely covering his hands, and zori sandals (he stubbornly refuses to accept the very concept of close toed shoes and doesn’t understand how people can wear animal skins on their body).

History: Most records of his life are accurate, describing both as a humble man who created calendars and a wise man who advised many emperors on spiritual issues. He shaped the future of Onmyoudo for eastern mages permanently and is currently regarded as one of the most skilled mages in history. As he lived an absurdly long life and was never afflicted with a sickness of any kind, many details about his late life have been speculated without any real basis. Some wonder if he was fully human, while others believe he touched upon the origin and became a user of True Magic. Most dismiss those theories are groundless.

Wish: To erase all traces of a nameless book he divined in the last years of his life in order to prevent the death of the many future mages who would waste their lives searching for the origin because of him.

Unique Skills: As a Caster class, he has access to the sorcery he used in life, making him actively superior to even the strongest mages of the current era (save for magicians and the head of the Barthomeloi family). Though he has high levels of firepower when manipulating the elements, he prefers the subtler use of shikigami in various ways.

Noble Phantasms: Senji Ryakketsu- A text written by the Onmyouji himself, it contains many miscellaneous predictions of the future, from minor things like the gender of the children that would be born the next day to more relevant things such as coming disasters, as well as everything in between. With this, Abe no Seimei can divine the future in intervals, making it possible to prepare spells and wards to deal with coming events. This gives him a major advantage, making it nearly impossible to use a surprise attack against him or catch him unawares. He can stop even a direct assault by the Saber class if he knows the area in question ahead of time.

So posting has slowed to a crawl, even compared to before, but I still think we can be creative together. What say we try another, somewhat broad, idea for characters, just to vent some creative juices? This time: Superheroes, from whatever medium you like to whatever extent of your knowledge. Powers, no powers, alien, mutant--whatever you like. We could do supervillain to, if you so prefer.

Saturn Shell (Van Vondel Vardok)

Powers: Manipulation of Polybelyn, properties of polymer for skin, possession of high levels of internal thermal energy, extreme sturdiness, advanced intellect

Domain: New Machina City and neighboring suburbs.

Affiliation: Root Development & Design, Justice League, Automata Trio, Elite Constant (#4)

Appearance: Normally, as Van, he appears as a normal human being—a slim white male at upper-average height. He has messy brown hair with no volume, bangs cut so they won’t fall into his silver eyes, and his skin is slightly tan, enough that others would make note of it upon meeting him. His wardrobe is fairly unneccentric—he just wears a button down shirt, a cardigan on cold days, cargos, and sneakers. The one feature that would define him among others is his glasses—a custom-made thick silver frame and large, wide lenses that almost make them seem like work goggles.

As Saturn Shell, Van is entirely unidentifiable. Technicalities aside, he appears to be a tall, slim, humanoid sheathed in a smooth silver/white casing. There is no muscle definition, so it doesn’t appear to be skintight like a body suit, and it also doesn’t show normally prevalent features like the wrists, elbow bones, knee caps, ankles, or crotch. Even the face has the bare minimal features—just the lenses of his glasses that reflect his silver eye color. It’s almost like a toy soldier before being painted or a golem made from plastic instead of clay. This form is partly a personal decision and partly the result of a requirements set by physics. Saturn Shell can create any extra features he likes at will, such as armor-like padding and webbed appendages, making certain parts of his body wider or slimmer, or even make himself more bulky or stream-lined. His choice of mobility is a pair of pressure controlled wheels at his heels that greatly multiply work, allowing him a maximum of 100mph by making the fluid motions of roller blading.

Personality: Van is a calm, single-minded, and practical young man with features just exotic enough to make one ask where he’s from after during a casual conversation with him. He’s a bright boy, but he’s not overly social. He doesn’t mind talking but doesn’t feel the need to always start a conversation or think of a reason to ‘meet the person next to him’. While he feels no awkwardness in silence, he can be pretty dense about how others feel about it, something he’s recently been trying to fix. He loves mathematics and physics and has a large wealth of knowledge, always cycling through random facts in his head as he witnesses them in real time around him. He lives in his own world where his work is everything and everything is his work.

His ultimate goal, for some reason, is to help people. He doesn’t have a specific reason to. He understands society as being a group where ‘in order to be a part of it, you have to benefit it’. He envisions countless ways in which his passion can help random strangers and aims for that. Along the way, he discovered that making people happy and making their lives easier gives him a strong sense of accomplishment that makes it all worth it, on top of doing what he enjoys.

His sense of values is worthy of a special kind of hero. He is especially interested in the aftermath and the preventative measures. The acts of heroism the public lauds like stopping a train from blowing up, rescuing people from a burning building, or defeating a villainous threat are things he sees are necessary when their necessary, but should be avoided when they can be. He actually pays mind to the cost of all the damage, who might be caught in the crossfire, and even why the villains do what they do. If he can solve the problem without a hostile confrontation, he’d take that route. He believes that super heroes are meant to ‘help people’, not ‘protect them’. This clear line that he draws can put him at odds with his supposed allies at the most unexpected times. He also values his life as Van more than anything else—if the world demanded that Saturn Shell become a full time hero, work for the government, or do something else equally demanding in order to be a ‘proper superhero’, he’d simply quit, as heroism is merely one among many ways for him to help people.

History (Tried to cut it down the fluff, but too much was necessary info): Van Vondel Vardok is an engineering major in a competitive university in New Machina City, New York. The city is home to many eccentric people who obsess over various research topics normally not important enough to be given such extensive consideration in other places. From the meaning behind the purpose of limbs to the very existential relationship between music and the human brain, Van has been surrounded by people with very selfish obsessions who would give anything for the sake of what they do. But only since his high school days. Before then, he lived with his parents in another big city and New York where people were ‘normal’. By which Van tends to think means four things, three of which being lazy, fickle, and intrusive. Van wouldn’t have minded just those three factors—it was the fourth that irritated him. They were all insecure and they all took it out on him. Van was, in every sense of the word, a nerd. He was smart, loved to read, and was reasonably awkward, at least with the people who were around him. He never ‘hung out’ or did anything cool and was singled out for refusing to fall in with the crowd. He was bullied and made fun of just because he did what he wanted to, rather than what others wanted him to do.

This was the one and only thing that got him to snap. After years of frustration built up, Van decided to show exactly how stupid everyone else was being by pranking them all. HARD. Some of his classmates woke up without being able to find a shred of their clothing, as if it had all been evaporated overnight. Others found themselves covered in ring worm. Most couldn’t even figure out how what happened to them happened—the police had to come in and investigate. And all cases couldn’t be directly traced back to Van, since he had transferred out of the school and moved to another city an entire month before.

Van wondered if he was weird because he never felt the urge to brag about it to anyone. He didn’t feel any desire for validation or glory, as psychosis would normally dictate. But of course, he didn’t trust his self-diagnosis so he focused on acclimating to the new school in the new city. To his surprise, he had no problems here. Everyone was too busy doing what they enjoyed to even look at him. Artists only looked at how to enhance their art. Athletes focused on their respective sports. Everyone knew what they wanted to do when they grew up and aimed for that goal. They weren’t the very best when compared to people all around the world, save for the few with real talent, but they loved what they did more than anyone else. Van was able to wholly focus on his math and sciences without having to worry about the judgment of those around him interfering. It was also in that high school where he met Katelynne Root, daughter to one of the two richest men in New Machina City, a rich girl with her future secure, and heir to one of the two very companies that Van wanted to work for. She approached him out of curiosity and was the first real friend Van ever made. She became his drive to get better, not because she was a ticket into the job he wanted, but because he found her ideas to be fascinating and worth trying. She convinced him to go to the most cutthroat engineering university in the entire nation where they spent the majority of their free time engineering a new super polymer at a methodical pace along with a third friend they met—Linus Femt. The three of them were among the top 3% of the school and were part of America's 'Elite Constant', a group of the most promising engineers in the nation, selected via strict criteria. Van’s life was fairly good following the mess that was his childhood, despite the stress and hard work required of him.

Then came the accident. The three friends had successfully synthesized Polybelyn, a macromolecule that, as far as modern science was concerned, did not exist naturally anywhere else in the world, and were prepared to start fashioning it into tools of Linus’ design in the Root family laboratory under extremely high temperatures. Unfortunately, an unexplainable phenomenon occurred—the energy in the system effectively exploded outward and followed a path directly toward the nearest heat source—Van. Van should have died right there. He immediately lost consciousness, but from what he heard after he woke up in a hospital ward, the serious of molecules that made up Polybelyn had fused with his skin tissue under the high temperatures and continued to boil in that state, making surgery or even a proper diagnosis with normal tools impossible. It was with the advanced engineering materials Katelynne brought in secretly along with Linus, second child of the other important man in New Machina, that they managed to figure out what was going on with Van, though from what they could see, there was nothing to be done. His life didn’t appear to be in danger, so they didn’t do anything, deciding to stay quiet and wait. Twelve hours passed before Van woke up, covered in molten Polybelyn and melting holes through the many layered container he’d been put in. It took another three hours for him to figure out how to contain his body temperature so that it only felt like he was running a high fever.

Over the next few weeks, Van Vondel Vardok was officially recovering in the hospital when he was really secretly testing his new found control over Polybelyn at the opportunistic urging of Katelynne. Much progress was made, and only the three university students were the wiser. By time Van was ‘discharged’, he had quickly adapted to his new life and could return to his daily routine, if barely. But it wasn’t enough. After seeing how much Polybelyn could help the world, Katelynne urged Van to go further, to go to the length that few others in New Machina had gone to. There were those in the city who loved their research so much, they would go to any lengths to explore it, even if they had to sacrifice innocent lives or disrupt society to reach it. The number of people who thought similarly, but used their talents to specifically help society was far fewer. In fact, Van would only be the second individual to make a name for himself that way. Originally, Van refused to give up his daily life to become a vigilante, even if he agreed with the sentiment. But it didn’t take long for his daily life to be indirectly disrupted in various ways by those very felons, especially by one in particular called “Umbra”. He chose to do something, if only to give himself peace of mind. Soon, one selfish vigilante act turned into another and Van was unhappy to find himself doing exactly what he hoped he wouldn’t—becoming one of them. Katelynne seemed to think better of her idea as well, to an extent, and made Van make a verbal promise to make it his priority to aid others with Polybelyn, no matter what form it took. He made the promise, not realizing the omen then. It was only a few days later when Katelynne’s father, the CEO of Root Development & Design, was attacked during an assassination attempt. He was spared thanks to the efforts of the superhero who roamed the streets prior to Saturn Shell (so named by Linus for the way Van protected himself with multiple layers and the seven ring symbol in the center of his chest), but Katelynne ended up being lethally poisoned and suffered from a violent allergic reaction. She managed to pull through but remains unconscious in the hospital, showing no sure signs of recovery. Van continues to honor his promise to Katelynne along with Linus and constantly balances a full schedule with his ‘hobby’ of helping out with his powers. Saturn Shell has become a symbol of ingenuity and genuine desire to help society. True to their reputation as single-minded and practical, the people of New Machina City have shown little concern for Van’s true identity in the face his actions.

Personal Inventions: He’d made many things from high school to the present, but most of his best engineering feats were revamped and replaced with a Polybelyn version, and he’s constantly making them better every day.

Yoyo- Van carries two yoyos on him everywhere he goes and plays with one out of sheer nervous habit. He changes their shape and design when he takes on the guise of Saturn Shell. They don’t have any special design mechanisms beyond the use he gets from being able to manipulate them freely. He uses them as his default tools since their so flexible, to the point that they’ve become his signature (his mastery over them is practically a talent). There is a small multi-function computer chip in each one made by Linus that Van can move anywhere in his body for convenience. They give him communication capabilities and can remote control other devices connected wirelessly.

Glasses- The lenses are prescription, but the frames are custom, made by Van. Made from Polybelyn, they are virtually indestructible and he never has to replace them. By changing their form a bit, he can sleep with them on and adjust them to any lens he may get. Since he never has to take them off, he usually has them fused to his skin.

Rubber soles- They function as normal soles, but due to being in contact with Van, he can manipulate them to create small spikes that stick to falls or create small balls, like heeleys.

Abilities: The exterior of Van’s body fused with the unique polymer he created—Polybelyn—so his skin acquired its properties. Polybelyn has incredible tensile strength, able to resist nearly any impact by absorbing the kinetic energy with only some elastic deformation. It also has an extremely high melting point—no naturally occurring heat source on Earth, aside from the Earth’s core and lightning, can melt Polybelyn. Oddly, Polybelyn maintains thermal energy easily and is slow to lose it even as it aims for thermal equilibrium. The polymer doesn’t even start to crack until it practically approaches absolute zero, at which point it becomes frighteningly fragile. This leaves Van with enormous defensive capabilities, able to withstand nearly all climates.

Van has a unique homeostasis and chemical biology that allows him to synthesize the chemical formula for Polybelyn in his body as if he were growing tissue. His internal makeup, from his bloodstream to his organs, are still normal aside from the as of yet to be explained ability to withstand high temperatures. A thermometer would inaccurately read his internal temperature to be in the thousands (it fluctuates constantly and there are several pockets inside Van’s body that seem to run normal temperatures) and he used to radiate heat like an active volcano. Van solidified a nearly transparent layer of Polybelyn over his entire body to trap the heat, recycling the energy and allowing the surface of his skin to be normal to the touch.

Intuitively, Van can melt down and manipulate any Polybelyn in contact with him freely. He can only manipulate its liquid form, but he can pinpoint and control which parts get melted down on a molecular level. This allows him to create any construct from the polymer as he wishes, based entirely on his imagination. He can create simple small objects in seconds or minutes, while a large and complicated structure would take much longer depending on scale. He likes to think of himself as a mobile 3D printer with incredible accuracy and the ability to redo anything he messes up. With the polymer’s strength and flexibility, almost anything made from it will have high functionality and is practically guaranteed to last a lifetime, depending on the function.

Despite its functional and impregnable nature, Saturn Shell is best suited for more subtle heroics, solving problems with clever ingenuity and originality, rather than brute force. This suites Van’s nature, as he dislikes the direct approach despite how fast it can be. He still sees being covered in Polybelyn as a crippling accident rather than any stroke of luck or a blessing and tends to act accordingly. He can theoretically control his outer biological features to the minute detail (but he refuses to even try out of sheer fear for what consequences might follow), so his growth patterns are currently suspect. What’s worse, he’s not sure how he works under radioactivity. Polybelyn has an absurdly long half-life, but there is a way to chemically dispose of it that has yet to be disclosed. This method does not work on Van. So long as the Polybelyn is in physical contact with him, and is thus under his physical influence, it cannot be safely ‘disposed of’. For a related reason, Van has added to his thermal layer to create layers of varying density and thickness to protect against radiation from all across the electromagnetic spectrum. Despite all this, he is still extremely sensitive to temperatures—his thermal senses are advanced enough to compensate for three of his senses.

Van is an incredibly intelligent person with vast, inclusive knowledge of mathematics and sciences that he's constantly applying in both his work and 'hobby'. He's a fast learner living by the rule of 'never leave empty handed', so he tends to take what information he can from even the most tedious or pointless tasks. His actions tend to be heavily considered to cover a wide range of contingencies that most people never notice--those who do are normally surprised by the level of paranoia it displays. Van has even been professionally diagnosed for his compulsive behavior in checking and rumination. Since developing his power, he seems capable of channelling this into his observation skills, making him attentive to most things.

It ended up being longer than expected. He was originally going to be a Gatchaman, but I saw más potential for him in the DC multiverse. hace más de un año

Interesting. I've got a character diseño in mind, but I'm still working on the skill set. Mainly depends on the universe I'm putting her in, which looks like it'll be DC at this stage (funny we both chose that one). hace más de un año

Just a character I thought up while watching Re:Creators (great show, that). I have another one that I might write up and post.

Garfield Albert Kanguq

Anime: Sekai Seifuku, based on a light novel, is a world wide political espionage opera with commentary and discourse on real world society. (concept posted in Interesting Anime Ideas)

Role: Garfield is from a story told from a variety of different perspectives, telling both sides plus more, so there is no main character. He ends up becoming popular as the closest there is to a protagonist despite being introduced late into the story, taking no sides as he keeps an eye on shady government actions.

Appearance: A young man at 26, he has a slim build and is always wearing a tailored black suit that frames his body perfectly. His silky dark hair lays unattended, a few strands slipping down the bridge of his nose. He wears a signature fedora with a small pin in the trim-ribbon shaped like a Libra zodiac. His thin tie is clipped to his white shirt to keep it in place and he usually keeps his jacket bottomed. He has piercing blue eyes and shadows beneath them to make him look tired.

Personality: Garfield is a skeptical young man who believes that he can only trust someone until he can’t. He takes everything into consideration and works under the assumption that its true until he notices discrepancies. He takes precautions so when mistakes and surprises eventually come, he’s prepared to respond. He’s generally low energy, sitting back and observing anything and taking action in the peripheral, giving him the disposition of a crafty person. He’s takes things at his own pace, rarely acting as other people hope. He suffers from mild cases of apophenia and monomania, the former of which is justified in the world he comes from where conspiracies are abound. He’s tolerant of opposing beliefs and moralities, having worked with insane people and psychopaths, seeing them as human as anyone else, though he rarely sympathizes with them. He trusts his friends even less than his enemies, which is why he only have a few close acquaintances. He has a sentimental side buried in his psyche that rarely shows up until specific circumstances.

Bio: Born in eastern Europe, he was raised by a Romani family and taught to be a conman. It didn’t take long for his family to learn of his gift for puzzle solving and they tried to take advantage of this. Feel betrayed by his own family, the young Garfield changed his name and lied his way into school, passing with stellar grades before going to law school. His gift was one again appreciated by the government and he was recruited as an intelligence agent. He worked mostly as a detective of sorts, solving gruesome murders and complicated systematic exploits that weren’t even technically crimes. He learned a lot about how the world’s societal system work and he made it his personal duty to try and find a way to unravel the dense, encultured bureaucratic problems, though it’s been slow going with his lack of influence.

His acquaintances include a celebrity model with numerous connections, an elusive spy who he dated who’s conflicted between doing her job and killing him or being true to her feelings and helping him, his partner who came straight out of active duty in the military, and a U.N. politician who tries to help whenever bureaucracy isn’t tying him down. On numerous occasions, Garfield has come across the F.M.G.’s Theta group and the G.P.E.’s private security contractors. Each interaction is always complicated and puts the world’s stability in the balance, with him standing right in the middle.

Abilities: While there is a lack of special powers in this world, several people have uncanny talents that may very well be superhuman. Garfield is much like a modern Sherlock Holmes, except he uses a liberal combination of deductive, inductive, and abductive reasoning. He tends toward deductive, as his special talent is observation. With his advanced eidetic memory, he can memorize anything he sees so long as he does so consciously and review the information later as if he were seeing the same moment with perfect clarity. With this, he forms a slew of basic premises and works his way down from there until he discovers an answer. Because of this, he’s always gathering information and only trusts it until an exception contradicts it.

Summoning: Upon being summoned to the ‘world of gods’, he sees that aside from the social order, not much is different. So he does some research and discovers that he’s a fictional character and seeks out his creator, who he interviews. Deciding that taking sides is meaningless and counter-productive, he chooses to work with the government to understand what is going on, preserve the natural state of the world, and patiently find a way to go home to finish what he left behind. He believes firmly that a reality created by another person is still a reality—one that he’s staked far too much on to abandon. The fact that he’s technically a fictional character doesn’t faze him, since it makes no practical difference. Since he lacks combat abilities, he usually stays in contact with the other creations to coordinate movements and keep track of the changing situation, trying to mitigate damage where he can.

Other character I had in mind for Re:Creators for fun. Honestly, the medium name was the most fun part. No wonder the Japanese do it all the time, it's hilarious.

Collette L'Esperance

Manga/light novel: Otogibanashi wa gendai no toshi ni hontōni sonzai shimasu ka? (Can Fairy Tales Really Exist in a Modern City?) i.e. Otogenzai

Role: Each arc of the story has a handful of protagonists (on average, 3. Think Pokémon Adventures) with their own adventures in this city. Collette is a recurring minor antagonist who encounters each protagonist in some way, usually as an enemy. Due to being likable, her story has been adapted as a light novel spinoff, Otogenzai: Hime no Keibi (Princess Guard).

Appearance: Collette is a Cajun woman at 36. She has a slim frame and flat chest tucked away in a suit that’s cut specifically to her frame, making her look slightly taller than her 5’7” stature. She maintained an upright posture and squared shoulders at all times. She has short dark hair with highlighted tips and wears two earrings on each ear that click together as she moves—a fashion decision impressed upon her by the woman she guards. She always wears a pair of blade proof gloves meant for punching.

Personality: Collette initially appears mild-mannered and professional, taking everything in stride. She rarely lets her emotions get the best of her, though she’s more good-natured than she is impassive. Inspired by the Nutcracker, she has a good heart but feels more comfortable when others do the deciding for her, allowing her to perform her function as needed without question. Beyond that, she’s a slightly competitive and fearless person who can only be reasoned with to a point. She’s the type to who leaves grudges on the battlefield and is willing to share a drink with the enemy in between.

Bio: Born and raised in New Orleans, she led an impoverished lifestyle where she had to fight for and earn every scrap of food and place to sleep. This was normal for her, so she never resented to lifestyle. She eventually enlisted in the army, taking easily to the military training and being recruited as a special forces officers. What she did was classified and her knowledge of why she did what she did is spotty. She followed the orders she was given and didn’t ask unnecessary questions. That is, until one of her missions forced her to make a decision where she had to think for herself. She obliged by listening to her conscience and compromised the mission. She was burned and kicked out of the forces, her existence written off entirely.

She returned to America, but instead went to Casus, Connecticut for a job. She became a professional hitter for a crime family and was famed for her effective measures and for being a fighter who could trade blows with a crazed berserker, a lumberjack straight out of tall tales, and a Chinese devil king that held nothing back, though each encounter nearly killed her. Finally, she dismissed herself from her work when the crime family’s boss forced her to make another moral decision and she ended up choosing ‘wrong’.

She ended up being picked up by an actual princess, ignorant of the world yet confident that she stood at the top of it. Enraptured by the girl’s self-centered confidence, Collette decided to lend her fists to the princess and the organization she was a part of, satisfied that she could follow orders and never have to worry about why she was doing what she was doing, believing that whatever world the princess desires is the one she wants.

Abilities: She’s absurdly strong. Her physical strength and constitution are off the charts, despite possessing a human body. She was born this way with no explanation and it causes some problems for her. If she exerts herself to much, that absurd strength can crush her like a twig. She can only hit something if its sturdy enough to take the hit. She never overuses her strength against normal thugs and the like, which she’s used to dealing with. She has several styles of hand to hand combat burned into her muscle memory, though she prefers brawler and boxing styles. She’d proficient at stealth and lying, having learned out of her necessity, but she often defaults to her forte—her fists. She’s easily outsmarted, as she tends to focus on what’s right in front of her and never looks at the bigger picture, leaving that to those who give her orders.

Summoning: Upon finding herself in a new world that like her own, except duller, and finds herself lost on what to do. When she’s approached by Altair, who tells her that working together would make it possible for Collette to return to her world and even change it as needed (which happens to be the long term goal of S.A.N.E., the organization with which she’s affiliated), she happily complies, making her an invaluable tool for the enemy.
