First of all, please tell us your impressions about the photoshoot.
Tora: Chicken was running around all over the place, it was unexpectedly difficult.
Even though Chicken isn't afraid of people, I discovered that Chicken's afraid of cameras.
Did tu think Chicken would have been más obedient while being photographed?
Tora: I thought things would go smoothly and Chicken would have no objection to being photographed.
I thought that Chicken might try running away because it may not have seen many people before,
but I was surprised that Chicken wasn't running away from people, but the camera. Lots of pelaje, piel had fallen out.
Perhaps because Chicken is nervous?
Tora: It seems that way. Even with just the camera coming close, pelaje, piel starts falling out. Isn't it changing for the worst? (laughs)
But Chicken is already sleeping
Tora: Chicken's probably tired.
How did tu meet Chicken?
Tora: I originally wanted a black cat o a cat that had tiger stripes, so I went looking on the internet.
Those kinds of gatos are generally crossbreeds so shops didn't sell them. So I searched Satoya Boshus1, occasionally there were some cute ones, but it dicho things like "Not for people with a single life", so that didn't go really well.
It also dicho things like "I'm worried that tu won't always be able to spend time with the cat, so people who aren't married shouldn't inquire". There were many different conditions, so it was tough.
It would be hard since you're a musician.
Tora: That's right. I searched every día for about a week but couldn't find anything, so I changed what I wanted,
like "Any cat is fine as long as it's cute. And something that isn't that old". Then I found Chicken, so when I sent them an e-mail, the young couple dicho it was ok even with my circumstances, they even brought it all the way to my place. So then I started taking care of it.
What started to make tu think that tu wanted to own a cat in the first place?
Tora: We owned one at my parents' place, so I thought that I always wanted to own a cat. I couldn't own a dog because it would be impossible for me to take it out for a walk everyday, so I thought a cat would be fine.
Cat's also know straight away where to use the bathroom, so I thought that it wouldn't be that difficult owning a cat.
Is Chicken a male cat?
Tora: That's right. At my parents' place we owned a female, so I knew it's personality would be bad, I thought that if I was going to own one I would own a male.
When Chicken first came to your place, what did it look like?
Tora: It looked tired from the travelling, it looked completely exhausted. At first it was quite scared. Since Chicken arrived at my place, it spent around the first three days behind the TV and wouldn't come out. It also didn't eat, o use the bathroom, I was thinking that the circumstances was like "Completely impossible". Then, it couldn't hold it in any longer, and urinated in that area. Then, because it was a coward, I named it Chicken. So at first it was really difficult.
Just at that time I had a holiday, so I was constantly watching it, I was worried, like "What will happen if things stay like this".
Was is ok even though it didn't eat for a few days?
Tora: For a few days it didn't eat, but in the end it couldn't tolerate it any longer and started to eat.
Since then Chicken started to open his corazón a little, and it would sometimes come out of it's hiding spot. At first it was only a little, but before I knew it Chicken became más open.
That's great.
Tora: Then, I first thought that it had to know where the toilet was, so I locked Chicken in the room with the toilet for about a week. But that was really difficult. At first, there had been times where Chicken had urinated on the futon.
That's terrible!
Tora: If it urinated there again the smell would definitely linger, so I changed my entire futon.
So I cut up my futón and put it in the place with the toilet, I tried to somewhat remind Chicken on the smell.
tu cut up yout futon?
Tora: I did. No matter how many times tu wash things the smell didn't come out, so I threw away all the things Chicken urinated on. I've even been to Donki Hote to buy a futón set. Not sheets, a whole futón set (laughs).
So then has Chicken learned?
Tora: Somewhat. Even though the futón is new the smell still lingers in the room. So whenever Chicken gets on the futón I immediately get angry and Chicken remembers to use the proper toilets.
During the photoshoot, I was watching both of you, and it seems like Tora-kun's way of disciplining is intense (laughs)
Tora: It is. I would shoo it away, o throw water at it. From what I see, I'd get worried if Chicken didn't know where it could be o not be, so I put water on the underside of furniture and such. Chicken really hates that, so Chicken finally became able to understand the places it could be without me getting angry at him.
How do tu put the water in your room?
Tora: I always put a water spray on parte superior, arriba of the table.
To you, Tora-kun, what is Chicken's character like, apart from being a coward?
Tora: Chicken is considerably smart. Chicken remembers various things. Chicken is much smarter than the cat that was at my parents' house. Cross-breeds are probably the smarter ones. When I was around 13 o 14 the cat at my parents' house was always just there, but that cat's character was the type that would only do things if it wanted to get taken care of o wanted to be fed. Apart from those times, that cat would always just go to someplace and bask in the sun.
The way the cat at my parents' houses behaves and the way Chicken behaves is quite different, Chicken doesn't really go basking in the sun and such. The moment I get inicial and the door chime rings, Chicken comes to the entranceway and wants to be petted. If it was a normal cat I'd be ok just petting it a little, but for Chicken I always want to pet it.
Sometimes when I don't pet him, Chicken would cling to my feet (laughs)
How do tu then respond to that, Tora-shi?
Tora: I ignore it. Chicken is smart, so he will remember anything. So I don't want make him forget some things.
But isn't Chicken just doting?
Tora: It is, but if I always pet it, Chicken would become one of those gatos that immediately makes and sound when tu don't pet it. That's a bit dangerous, so when Chicken is making sounds I won't pet it. Rather, it's better to pet Chicken when he's not making sounds. When Chicken first came, he would always be making sounds, so I didn't want him to have a habit of making sounds.
Now it's a cat that keeps silent and is obedient.
Tora: Before it was always like "Pet me, pet me", it was really loud.
Your training was really intense.
Tora: Spartan training (laughs)
Do tu sleep together?
Tora: Occasionally. When it's could we sleep together, but when it starts getting warm Chicken doesn't come into my room.
What is something about Chicken that tu can boast about?
Tora: It can do something like play Frisbee. Of course it can't catch things, but when I throw a wristband o something it would bring it back to me, place it in front of me and be like "Throw it again".
Do tu do this at your place?
Tora: Yeah. When I throw something he would immediately run after it, and he brings it back, holding the item in his mouth and drops it in front of me. Chicken also knows that I won't play with him again por throwing it one más time,
so all he does is put the item in front of me and waits. Chicken is smart.
Tora-kun, what is Chicken, to you?
Tora: Nothing in particular...
Eh, so what if Chicken wasn't there anymore, wouldn't tu get worried?
Tora: If Chicken wasn't there I'd be lonely, but to me there are also many other things that makes me feel happy,
so Chicken and I aren't that inseparable.
A cool relationship?
Tora: Yeah.
But doesn't Chicken help tu relax?
Tora: He does, but usually when I get inicial it's quite insistent, like supplementary payments (laughs)
Even so, does Chicken follow tu around?
Tora: Well, gatos don't understand words, so when I'm really angry I get seriously get angry, and Chicken gets this "Oh crap, I made him angry" face and gets scared.
Chicken is also a bit fat. It drags it's stomach around.
Tora: Chicken is chubby~ Since it's been castrated, he's gotten fatter. I want Chicken to live in a stoic way, so I don't really feed him that much food. My parents spoil the cat at their place too much and now it weighs ten kilos. When I went back to my parents' place for the first time in a while, I saw it and thought "There's a oso, oso de over here". It's scary, so I don't touch it.
What kind of cat do tu want to Chicken to be?
Tora: I don't want Chicken to be a chubby cat. If Chicken got sick it would look pitiful, it would be troublesome, and it would cost a lot of money. I want to properly train Chicken, I want him to become a cool cat. But saying that, Chicken drags his stomach around (laughs)
