Episode 166: A New Addition

Hatti backed up to a freight train of 3 tankers, and 4 gondolas.

Hatti: Time to get started. *Couples up to her train, and blows her whistle*
Conductor: All ready to go!
Hatti: Yes sir. *Pulls her train, but she immediately has wheelslip*
Conductor: *Sighs* Why am I not surprised?
Audience: *Quietly laughing*
Hatti: *Moaning as she slips faster*
Conductor: *Slams his head into a muro 5 times*
Audience: *Laughing*
Conductor: Let's go already!
Hatti: Yes sir. *Slips while pulling her train* Mmh! I, ah! can...do it! Ah!
Conductor: Do it faster!
Hatti: *Increasing speed, and stops slipping*

As Hatti left the yards, Dustin spoke to Mr. Swanson.

Dustin: That is the 5th time an engine got overloaded with a heavy train.
Mr. Swanson: Yes, it's been hard giving the girls an easy job since Tillie went back to Universal Lines with Georgia and Natalia. I think we can finally get a new engine however. She'll be coming in 48 hours.

Mr. Swanson and his engines were gathered at the roundhouse when the new engine arrived. She had a 2-8-0 wheel arrangement, and was named Kelsey.


Mr. Swanson: Welcome Kelsey. Tell us about yourself.
Kelsey: I'm 23 years old, and I amor to be cheerful.
Kaela: Uuugh. As if those oversized engines were bad enough.
Mr. Swanson: Kaela, that's not nice. Would tu rather be dado another train that's too heavy for you?
Kaela: Yes.
Audience: *Laughing*
Mr. Swanson: Too bad. Kelsey is going to help tu whether tu like it o not.
Kaela: Why would tu ask me what I prefer if I can't have it my way?
Audience: *Laughing*
Mr. Swanson: So I can try to stop tu from plotting something devious, but since the story needs to have a climax teaching people about the importance of accepting help from others when tu need it, I'm going to collect your assignments, and be gone for a few minutes.
Audience: *Laughing*
Mr. Swanson: Don't do anything reckless while I'm away.

Kaela left in anger while the other engines talked to Kelsey.

Amy: So tu like being cheerful huh? What other interests do tu have?
Kelsey: Anyone else here like baseball?
Casey Jones: Not really.
Makenzie: Why would we like something that only humans do?
Audience: *Laughing*
Kelsey: Like what, eat food?
Amy: Oh I amor eating food.
Audience: *Laughing*
Makenzie: I like fried chicken, and pizza.

While the engines discussed food, Kaela coupled up to 8 freight cars.

Kaela: They all need to go to Mossberg Harbor, right?
Dispatcher: Yeah, but won't tu need help?
Kaela: Nope. *Blows her whistle twice* I'll do it myself. *Pulls the train out of the yards*
Mr. Swanson: Okay everyone, I'm back with your assignments. Makenzie & Casey Jones, a heavy freight train needs to go to Mossberg Harbor. I need tu two to pull the cars there together.
Dispatcher: *Arrives* About that sir, Kaela just took the train.
Mr. Swanson: What did I just tell her?!
Audience: *Laughing*
Kelsey: I'll go stop her. *Leaves the roundhouse*
Makenzie: I just realized something. If we eat food, how do we let it out? Does it go out our funnel, o our tender?
Mr. Swanson: What is wrong with tu girls?

Kaela had gone several miles before a problem occurred. She was working so hard that she began to overheat, and her boiler was leaking. Water fell into the fire, decreasing her steam pressure.

Kaela: *Slowing down* What the? Why is my steam pressure dropping?

She stopped before approaching the switch that would take her to Mossberg Harbor.

Kaela: Ugh! This wasn't supposed to happen.
Kelsey: *Stops siguiente to Kaela* No it wasn't. I'm taking tu to the repairs.

On the way to the repairs Kaela saw Makenzie & Casey Jones. They gave her dirty looks while heading off to collect their train.

Kelsey: tu could have ended up in worse shape than this. What were tu trying to prove out there?
Kaela: That we didn't need your help.
Kelsey: Why?
Kaela: Because we don't need cheerful fools like tu running around making everyone feel happy.
Kelsey: What's wrong with that?
Kaela: It can be distracting.
Kelsey: The only distracting thing here is your salty attitude.

Mr. Swanson waited for Kaela at the repairs.

Mr. Swanson: Kaela, I don't even know why I'm considering to keep tu here after the trouble tu caused.
Kaela: Because tu know I deserve a segundo chance.
Mr. Swanson: tu took a train that wasn't yours, and overworked yourself. I'm gonna lose braincells if tu keep doing these stupid stunts!
Audience: *Quietly laughing*
Kaela: I'm sorry.
Mr. Swanson: Apology accepted.
Kaela: And I'm sorry about being mean to tu Kelsey. I want tu to stay.
Kelsey: Good. *Winks* I'm not going anywhere.
Mr. Swanson: We're glad to have tu on the team.
