For I know I could be the only one that thinks that way, but I think it stands on its own merits and thats why so many people hold it in such high regard. There was another book I read that I liked and was well written called "Angel of Music" though it isn't a straight novel itself (its three comprized stories) and actually puts Raoul for once, in a really how shall I say "endearing" role instead of just being the other guy. I have to say even though I liked Kay's novel there were still faults (the last chp. tends to be quite tedious) I could be más nitpicky but I don't want to spoil it for *Alchemistlover.
