This is the Institute in Brooklyn. It is an old gothic cathedral that is run by the Lightwoods. The Lightwoods live in the Institute full time but others can live there if they are approved to by the Lightwoods. Only Shadowhunters can open the doors.

"I just think...... I mean, queens back in the day had no power, they were just a means to an end, a way for the prince to become king. All the queens were good for was poppin' out little heirs to the thrown and being a trophy wife. They had no say, and no real reason in life."
