This is the Institute in Brooklyn. It is an old gothic cathedral that is run by the Lightwoods. The Lightwoods live in the Institute full time but others can live there if they are approved to by the Lightwoods. Only Shadowhunters can open the doors.

(We'll just say he's in his living form because That's the form he would have been in when they had left before anyway, despite the fact that I had him in his demon form XD)

Fallax took a breath and relaxed some; or, at least, he tried to. It took a solid 20 minutes for him to get to sleep.
