Don t tu hate cops?

I was walking down the calle the other día and I had on a camisa, camiseta that dicho "Free Crack" tu know those funny novelty shirts people wear just to have a couple of laughs. Well apparently I got stopped por police saying I was promoting drugs with my camisa, camiseta and told me I wasn't allowed to walk around having it on. He tells me to take it off and he never wants to see me wear it again o else he'll arrest me. Funny cause I never knew tu can arrest someone just for wearing a camisa, camiseta and basically it is freedom of speech. Promoting drugs he say's just because it dicho free crack and that case even if I was promoting drugs the crack wouldn't be free

No, I don't hate them. Some of them are complete assholes, but most of them are just doing their job the best they can. My mom would call the cops at the drop of as hat (if I tried to leave the house in clothes she didn't like, for example). Some of them automatically assumed I was a punk kid causing trouble for my poor (drunk/high) mother. But there were others who were very kind and understood what was happening but couldn't stop it. The justice system is very flawed, and police officers know it too, but are trying to make the best of the regulations they have to follow.
It's the same reason why people are not allowed to wear clothes that are drug o gang-related at schools, it's a bit of an overreaction, but it's no big deal. tu have other shirts to wear.

In the Americas tu are granted freedom of speech por the constitution, but it's not what tu think. tu think it means tu have the right to say anything about anything, which is wrong. I mean, tu can't just go outside and start saying a bunch of racial slurs, that's also a hate crime.

"Freedom of speech," was meant for people to have the freedom to talk shit about the government and it's rulers, basically without getting punished. It let's tu talk your own opinion about the way the country is run without being scared that tu could be killed.

As for the police officer, he was just doing his job.

and freedom of speech doesn't allow people to say they want to kill someone o rape a child.

haha I literally just tweeted "don't trust anyone who likes cops"

I wouldn't say I blanket hate them but I don't like them and I definitely don't trust them.

I understand that there are pure cops, but it's the same argument as a feminist saying "we have to teach men not to rape" and a man saying "not all men rape." No, not all men rape, and no, not all cops are unnecessarily violent, but yes, all men, and yes, all cops, are totally corruptible and totally dangerous because they have undue societal power. They will take advantage of it and they will be assholes to innocent people.

Anyone who admires cops has a totally naive view of the justice system and of social structure tbh.

I had to think a lil before answering this.

I get where u are coming from, however, c'mon really? Why would u even wear such a shirt? Here's how I see it: while tu may not have intended to promote it, that camisa, camiseta represent something evil.

I'm not saying the camisa, camiseta has some weird "dark powers" o anything--its just a shirt. But the message ON the camisa, camiseta is what draws the eye.

People say "words will never hurt you"--that's not completely true. Sometimes words CAN hurt. They can either encourage o break people down. Words possess power..

Now onto the police: I don't particularly LIKE police. Now I know, I know....maybe some DO want to protect us. But what about the evil that lies within authority? What about the dark side of them? I'm not trying to be mean, just realistic. Simply putting on some uniform doesn't make tu perfect, it doesn't mean your a God. Like all of us, they too have darkness within. And they can't hide it forever.

But honestly, I hope that I encounter a NICE cop one day.

Well that's good. But sadly, the world is full of evil so where there's a good one, an evil one is not too far behind.

I don't necessarily hate them, but I don't really care for them. I think they are too judging and don't take time to pregunta o look for the right evidence. I think they could do better. They are supposed to serve and protect after all which isn't what they really do now.

It depends on the cops, really. Their job is to protect our cities, which is a good thing, but some are just horrible. The shit that police can get away with is insane. I don't hate the cops that act like cops are supposed to act, but tu hear más and más stories of police brutality and corrupt justice systems everyday. So I dunno exactly. As I said, depends on the cop in question.

i wouldnt go as far as for your story to automatically start hating on cops. true, that would be an irritating scenario and technically aside from disapproving of your camisa, camiseta he really doesnt have any authority to have tu take of the camisa, camiseta and not promote the use of drugs. what a cops job should be is to protect and serve the people of whatever city o town he is entrusted to serve. chances are he was doing his job in what he believed was the best way por taking the message of your camisa, camiseta seriously and wanting to prevent the spread of any positivity towards drug usage. really what that is is a misinterpretation

obviously however there are problems when it comes to how far officers are willing to carry their duty to protect and serve. there are officers around the united states taking their positions too far and displaying an extreme amount of brutality when it isnt even necessary. racism is very much a threat, especially in areas like nyc. there are towns whose police forces LITERALLY got tanks leftover from wars. thats right, a FUCKING TANK.

there should be a limitation as to how far someone can go and an acute awareness for officers when exactly something they do begins to go too far.

No, we need cops o else it would be like The Purge. Yes, there are bad cops, but there are bad doctors, and bad lawyers, and bad leaders, there are bad in every occupation, but that doesn't mean there aren't good. Most cops I've come across so far have been friendly and reasonable enough. And what would be better? Having to deal with a cop who happens to be a jackass o living in fear of tu o someone tu care about being mugged o stolen from o raped o murdered? I personally would rather go with the former.

No, I don't. My father is a police officer and has spent almost thirty years hunting down and arresting criminals, training other detectives and earning a reputation as a specialist fraud officer.
Likewise, his colleagues are all equally hard working individuals devoted to their jobs. Very few officers deserve criticism.
Maybe tu need to consider the context of your run in with that officer. It's a dangerous, highly stressful job: can tu blame him for being short with you? Moreover, tu have no idea what work he's dealing with at the moment. He could have just had a run in with some druggies. He could be dealing with a case where a minor died from an overdose. He himself could have lost a family member of friend to drugs. Looking at the big picture can help.
And, as an observation, it seems like Americans have lots of issues with their police force. I'm British and here the police are very much respected as pillars of the community and are a comforting presence on the streets.

I do when they're on me o my family's case. One time, my brother, cousin, and I were trespassing (accidentally; we didn't know anyone owned the place. It looked abandoned to us) and this old guy jumped out from behind some bushes and told us not to run, that he was now calling the cops on us for messing with his stuff and trespassing on his property.

This cop came and wouldn't even listen to what we had to say. He treated us like thugs, and although I was oldest, I was only eleven, like jeez.

Though I hate the corrupt and idiot ones, I have respect for police, they do there job stopping any crime and not all of them are bad.
After watching so many video's of corrupt cops being recorded and put on YouTube is hilarious to watch and why it explains so many of them abuse there power to give them rights to arrest whoever they want for doing nothing wrong even when most of us know our rights más than they do.
This is also why America is in a bad situation hiring the ones who sign up and only do it to act tough because they have a badge.
