Below is my review of the 2004 BBC miniseries, "NORTH AND SOUTH", which is an adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's 1855 novel:

"NORTH AND SOUTH" (2004) Review

If someone had told me years hace that I would find myself watching the 2004 BBC televisión adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell’s 1855 novel, let alone purchase a DVD copy of the miniseries, I would have dismissed that person’s notion as inconceivable. I have never shown any anterior interest in ”NORTH AND SOUTH”. And I am still baffled at how I suddenly became interested in it.

Mind you, I have been aware of the 2004 miniseries for the...

"HEAVEN AND HELL: NORTH AND SOUTH BOOK III" (1994) - EPISODE ONE Commentary

If there is one chapter in John Jakes' NORTH AND SOUTH saga that is reviled por the fans, it the televisión adaptation of the third one, set after the American Civil War. First of all, the theme of post-war Reconstruction has never been that popular with tales about the four-year war. más importantly, fans of Jakes' saga seemed to have a low opinion of "HEAVEN AND HELL: NORTH AND SOUTH BOOK III", the 1994 adaptation of Jakes' third North and South novel, published back in 1987.

My opinion of the 1994 miniseries slightly...

"PERSUASION" (1971) Review

This adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1818 novel turned out to be the first of the old Jane Austen televisión adaptations that the BBC aired during the 1970s and 80s. Produced and directed por Howard Baker, and adapted por Julian Mitchell; this two-part miniseries starred Ann Firbanks and Bryan Marshall.

As many fans of Austen’s novel would know, "PERSUASION" told the story of Anne Elliot, the middle daughter of a vain and spendthrift baronet, who finds herself reunited with her former finance, a Naval officer of lesser birth named Frederick Wentworth. Eight years before...

"THE MISSISSIPPI GAMBLER" (1953) Review

Tyrone Power's career took a strange turn during the post-World War II years. Although he still managed to maintain his position as one of Twentieth Century Fox's parte superior, arriba stars during the remainder of the 1940s, something happened as the 1950s dawned. Powers still found himself in Grade A cine during that particular decade. But he also seemed to appear in a growing number of standard costume melodramas.

Twentieth Century zorro, fox lent Powers to Universal Pictures to estrella in the 1953 drama called "THE MISSISSIPPI GAMBLER". Directed por Rudolph Maté, "THE MISSISSIPPI...

"POLDARK" SERIES ONE (2015): EPISODES FIVE TO EIGHT

Within the past year, I had developed a major interest in autor Winston Graham's 1945-2002 "POLDARK" literary saga and the two televisión adaptations of it. Series One of the segundo adaptation produced por Debbie Horsfield, premiered on the BBC (in Great Britain) and PBS (in the United States) last year. Consisting of eight episodes, Series One of "POLDARK" was an adaptation of 1945's "Ross Poldark - A Novel of Cornwall, 1783-1787" and "Demelza - A Novel of Cornwall, 1788-1790".
Whereas Episodes One to Four adapted the 1945 novel, Episodes...

"CALIFORNIA" (1947) Review

I am a history nut. And one of my favorito! historical periods that I amor to study is the Antebellum Era of the United States. One of my favorito! topics from this period is the California oro Rush. I also amor movies. But despite this love, I have been constantly disappointed por Hollywood's inability to create a first-rate movie about oro Rush.

I may have to take back my comentario about Hollywood's inability to produce a first-rate movie o televisión production about the oro Rush. There were at least three that managed to impress me. Unfortunately, the latest film...
