Why I can't add videos to iTunes biblioteca to subir them to my iPod?

MP4 is a media container format which can be encoded with many different video and audio codecs like DivX, Xvid, H.264, H.263, MPEG-4, AC3, WMA, AAC, etc. While iTunes only support few video and audio codec like MPEG-4 video codec and AAC audio codec; H.264 video codec and AAC audio codec. If the MP4 video is encode with iTunes unsupported video o audio codec, iTunes will not add and play it.

Sometimes, even if the MP4 is in the right video and audio codec that iTunes supports and we can successfully add and play MP4 in iTunes, but if the MP4 video does meet the technical specifications for iOS devices like video size, bitrates, sample rate and etc, we will fail to sync and transfer the MP4 video from iTunes to iPod, iPad, iPhone, manzana, apple TV and etc.

it applies to importing all kinds of videos to itunes including avi, wmv, flv, mkv, mpg and more

tu have to enable video syncing. click on your ipod in itunes then there should be videos. click on that and their should be a checkbox saying "Sync videos To (name of your ipod)'s iPod ".
i know this because first i was an ipod nano user now im an ipod touch user. if still not able to add videos then yes it is most likely tu have to download a converter

This one is free, and does require actualización but it works really well. its nothing , not with mp4 , converter, etc etc, but just instal quicktime player in ur pc

I prefer using a dedicated tool for this purpose. For instance, VideoDrive for Mac analyses your videos, converts them if necessary, adds metadata por searching for descriptions and artwork online, and puts them in iTunes. No fuss. I have a lot of videos and cannot be bothered with doing all these steps myself. I found a screencast online for it, but it seems a bit outdated.

tu actually have to download a converter. But they're all crappy unless tu buy one, which is expensive. In my opinion, it's a very smart mover from Apple. Forces people to buy cine if they want them on their iPod. I'll let tu know if my conversion works! :)

Do a right click on the video and there should be a "create an iPod o iPhone version" and it should start converting it. I can't grantee it but that's worked for me so far.

iPod plays videos of certain format only.. U just need a real nice converter.. I use iTransPod which is very easy to use.. its an iTunes plugin.. its as easy as adding a file to iTunes..Click on it select a file. it will convert and add it to iTunes.. tu jus have say which file u want..

sorry this isnt an answer but i have the same problem

like pretty much everyone said, it has to be a certain type.. i believe it has to be an MPEG4.. tu can go to www.keepvid.com and save them onto ur computer too. if tu do then tu need to download the 2nd link that it shows. just go to youtube and see if they have the video on there and just copy the url (i learned that the hard way so thought i'd mention that lol) and paste it into a buscar bar thats on the site. pretty easy and tu can do as many as u want :]

No one understood the problem. We know we need to convert the file and we did it.
I converted 8 episodes and everything went just fine, iTunes added them in the biblioteca but when I got to episodes 9, it got converted but I get the message (with Videora) that it can not be added to iTunes library. Even if trying to add it manually, nothing happens. I used the same method for all episodes so obviously, it's not the way I do it that is wrong.

well firstly download youtube downloader then use it to download your videos and after download tu can convert them righaway to any format like iphone..then add them to your itunes library..sync them all.. its fixed.

well for starters tu have to make sure that tu have the syncing cine button checked b/c if tu dont tu cant really sync movies!!!!AND HOW TO DO THAT is simple do to the place where it says " " ipod and click on "movies"on the parte superior, arriba of the window and then it says Sync cine check that off and there your cine are ready to sync

the thing is iTunes is retarded. every once in a while it'll just decide to tell tu to go f*&k yourself. what i recommend is checking out copy trans. i recommend getting the paid version if tu already have vids, when your ipod syncs again it might erase whatever tu added thru copy trans

Have tu gotten an answer to this yet? I have the same problem, it sounds like everyone else (except Narmzi) is missing the point - reciente videos I'm trying to add are the same as the old ones but they won't upload, it has nothing to do with converting them. What's changed about iTunes?!?

Itunes sux!! theres an alternative free program called CopyTrans Control, its a free download, google it then download it, its just like itunes but better! tu can add music, videos, but first tu need to convert your video files to MP4, and theres a free program called www.convertavitomp4.com, its a free program as well, once its downloaded, open it up and convert any movie file format such as avi. mkv, divx ect, and this tool does it for tu and converts your video files to MP4, then tu can drag n drop your MP4 movie file in Copy Trans manager( I forgot to mention when tu download CopyTrans Control, open it and select CopyTrans Manager, it detects what ever iDevice tu have connected, and it supports all aples products) then once tu convert your video files tu just drag n drop anywhere in CopyTrans Manager, same goes with adding music, tu just drag n drop, but after adding each file, weather its música o a video, click the update button at the parte superior, arriba right, its in bold writing, 'Update" This free program kicks iTunes culo in everyway, dont forget to convert your video files with the program mentioned to MP4 and voila, there on your ipod, ipod touch, iphone, ipad!!!!

I had that same problem the other día and it was driving me nuts! I found that my pc actually had a video to ipod converter. tu can get it from link where they have a free download to convert your videos to the ipod. Just make sure when tu have downloaded it and are getting ready to convert, that tu select the right ipod type to convert it to!

I had the same problem a few days ago. All I had to do was to install quicktime and that solved the problem for me.

Your pregunta is somewhat confusing which is why so many are answering with the standard video conversion answer, but if tu are suggesting that even though you're adding valid iTunes files to your biblioteca and iTunes is not accepting the files, tu need to have Quicktime installed and running. If for some reason you've shut down o uninstalled Quicktime, tu won't be able to add files to your biblioteca which you've always been able to add.

I had this problem just now.

Even though my file was in the right format .mp4, i got the exact same error. So you'll need to convert it the into the mp4 format that iTunes accepts....

So I went to download.cnet.com
downloaded Xilisoft (free and will convert the first 3mins only)
connect your iPad to your computer
make sure the perfil is "iPad - H.264 Video(1)"
go to the pic that looks like a mobile phone and click on the arrow near it - choose "output to iPad"
make sure iTunes is closed
then after you've dragged the file in the window, right click on the green dot on the RHS in the status column and choose "Convert Selected Item(s)"

and voila :)

Use AVS Video converter. In AVS video converter select to convert to MP4. Worked fine. AVS will also make the file smaller most times.

I have just spent más than an hora converting and reconverting files to mp4 and they still wouldn't load into iTunes despite being identical in every way to how I load files all the time. In desperation I quit and restarted iTunes (just iTunes not the mac) and lo and behold they load instantly! Go figger!!

iTunes only supports to play QuickTime video and MPEG-4 video with the file extension of .m4v, .mp4 and .mov.
