The Haunting (1963) <---- Okay, so it's not little known, but whatever. It's too great and scary not to be included.
House on Haunted colina (1959) <--- Good, scary fun. tu can't go wrong with Vincent Price!
Carnival of Souls (1962)
Cat People (1942)
Freaks (1932) <---- GOOBLE GOBBLE, GOOBLE GOBBLE, WE ACCEPT HER, ONE OF US!
Island of lost Souls (1932)
Dead of Night (1945) <---- The first horror anthology movie ever made. A couple stories were later adapted into classic episodes of The Twilight Zone.

Slasher:
Psycho (1960) <--- Again, it's far from little known, but it was the first slasher movie ever made, so it merits inclusion. Not to mention it is brilliant.
Peeping Tom (1960)

Demonic possession... hmmm... I haven't seen too many demonic possession movies, but I'll give it a shot:
The Innocents (1961) <--- Technically, it's possession por sadistic ghosts, but close enough.

Random:
The Night of the Hunter (1955) <--- Robert Mitchum in one of his most famous roles, that of psychopathic serial killer (and preacher) Reverend Harry Powell.
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) <--- One of the first horror films ever made, and still one of the best.

i would recommend the final destination movies, sleepy hollow, dead silence and maybe sweeney todd it isnt that scary but its bloody!
