Not nessisarily 'not smart', but just young and naive

Ariel actually has clever moments. She's only considered stupid because of her deal with Ursula, but if you looked at her facial expression she wasn't buying Ursula's act. She did it out of bravery because of love, not being stupid or naive. Aurora is average at best. Ariel needs to make it past Aurora, I also think she's at least smarter than Pocahontas.

She was naive, and less smart because how she do a treat with Ursula. How she would win Eric's heart without talking? Dis she think that he would fall in love with her by only for her good appearances.

That was hart - it comes down to Aurora and Ariel, neither of them doing something particular smart in their movie (though both of them have moments in which they look smart). But Ariel has a lot of time to do something smart, while Aurora hasn't. And Ariel does a lot of stupid things, while Aurora doesn't - and I don't mean just the deal with Ursula, I also mean things like believing every word Scuttle tells her, even after she realizes that the dinglehopper story isn't really true she still blows into the pipe (no double meaning intended). Or being all happy about Eric's wedding announcement, although he hasn't asked her yet.

...but just because the dinglehopper story isn't true doesn't mean EVERYTHING scuttle told her is wrong. She doesn't know any better.

Swanpride how would she know that Scuttle was wrong? Since he flies all around humans you'd think he'd have good knowledge of humans. Secondly with the pipe, maybe she thought he misread the dinglehopper and he was right about this one. He said "She's out there somewhere I... I just haven't found her yet" so there shouldn't be a girl she doesn't know about. The only girl she knows he's interested in is the girl who rescued him and it's her. Since the time they've spent together she's the only girl who he's been interested. So those things you've said have thought into it.

PrincessLD she thought he saw her since when he was waking up he did look at her, she just wasn't aware he could barely see her from the sunlight. So she kinda figured. Besides she was aware it would be hard but still was willing to try and was good at it too, not just because she's gorgeous but because of her personality.

She always seemed really ditzy and spacey to me...

@princesslullaby Let's see, Ariel spend three days with him - perhaps someone he already knew and came to visit him? Ariel doesn't know his whole life, does she? She bought into Vanessa's disguise easily.
Oh, and add on the dumb list "risking her life for a trinket". It was stupid to swim into danger to get the fork in the first place, but swimming back to grab the bag right under the nose of the shark is just idiotic.

As I said before, I love her, but she is not very smart and I agree with pretty_angel92.

Get over it! Just because Snow White is gone doesn't mean you should hate the countdown. I know Ariel's going to be one of the first ones to go but I'm not letting that effect my feelings about the countdown. I have Ariel higher on my smart list than most people do because I recognize smart things she does but I understand how people find her dumb.

She doesn't do anything that makes her seem intelligent in her movie.

I feel like Aurora is getting picked simply because you don't see her do much at all in her movie and we as the viewers aren't given a chance to see her intelligence, whereas on the other hand with Ariel we get to see much more of her and can make a much more conclusive decision of her intelligence. We don't see Aurora make many smart decisions, but we don't see many unintelligent ones either. With Ariel we see many unintelligent descions, but very few intelligent ones.

So? People think Pocahontas is so wise but she also does some REALLY stupid stuff, more stupid than anything Ariel's done.

I didn't say anything about Pocahontas. I'm just throwing in my two cents, you don't need to get defensive.

I can't vote cause I missed the question but I pick Aurora because she wasnt in her movie much so we didnt see her being smart or anything.
