Like people said before, Mulan is a country girl who wouldn't have any clue how to survive by herself in the woods. Knowing how to use a sword will help you in a fight but not teach you what plants are edible, what sleeping places are safe, etc. I think she should have left before Pocahontas.

To win the hunger games you have to have fighting skills and you have to be intelligent, but you also have to know how to survive in the woods, and Merida is really good at that.

mulan actually has xp in fighting and merida's bow is more like a hobby she's really really good at. during the brave climax it's not helpful
