The Princess and the Frog has been criticized of being a mix of BATB and Cinderella, with music that sounds like its from BATB. Rapunzel from Tangled has been criticized of being too much like Ariel and the song, "I see the light" is said to be too much like "A whole new world".

Personally, I think both of the mentioned movies are very original; they refer to the classics(as it should be) but are not cheap-o rip offs IMO. Just my opinion though.

Well my answer is no, but definitely not because 'the renaissance is over.' That's a little dramatic, I think. But I don't think you'll ever be able to please everyone. Even the films that are called the Greatest Ever, like Citizen Kane and The Godfather, have their share of criticism. I don't think Disney will ever be able to please everybody, they just have to play to their audience and stay relatable, while attempting to move forward.

^Absolutely agree with phantomrose89. When you say 'no one' that seems impossible to happen since we all have different views in everything. Some may like it, some may dislike it. Even the Disney Renaissance had some criticisms too.

Just as a prime example, Pocahontas. Pocahontas is widely considered one of the worst Princess movies, if not the worst princess movie of the renaissance era. And Sleeping Beauty got really bad reviews when it was first released, but now we call it a classic.

Of course they can. But you can't just use the two most recent movies as an example of how they will never come back. PATF was VERY original but a bad film. Tangled was the opposite- a good film that was VERY unoriginal.

No - but that has nothing to do with the Disney Renaissance. Each and every Princess and her movie has been accused of borrowing from the older ones. Cinderalla was supposedly a ripp-off of Snow White, with all her singing and doing housework, with Aurora they were harping about the animals and the kiss, with Ariel it was elements like the kiss at the very end and again, the animal sidekicks, with Belle it was the Ballroom scene (which actually IS based on the dancing scenes in Sleeping Beauty) aso. People just spend to much time on what is similiar, and not on what is different. Take Rapunzel for example. Her quirky character is very different from the one of the other princesses, but everyone just looks on what is simmiliar.

Disney can, but I hope they would make it.

and i don't understand the problem with tangled. i think it's totally different from the other disney classics

I think they can make good movies, but that won't stop people critizing something.

Disney definitely seems to value more of a pop-culture-reference, comical sort of movie, nowadays. The more "serious" films like Mulan, Pocahontas, and Sleeping Beauty are too "old school" for them.
