Disney says ‘Moana’ animated movie will hit theaters in late 2016

A few days ago, KHON2 reported that a Maui girl that got a callback to audition for Disney’s new animated film “Moana.”

We have now learned that an Oahu girl has also been called up by Disney.

Meet Ciana Pelekai. The 14-year-old Waianae native submitted a video of herself singing to Disney.

They liked it so much, they asked her to read a few lines for the title role of Moana.

“That would be the world to me because right now I want to pursue my singing career and my acting career, and I would love to be in that movie and be the princess,” said Pelekai. “I’m just really happy and really excited.”
