Castiel Pregunta

Real strange question, I know, but yet...

So I've looked up the name Castiel, because I was curious where they got all the names from (uriEL, castiEL, gabriEL, etc.) So I found out that Castiel means; My cover is God.

What do they mean with; "my cover is God"?
Does the "cover" means like shield, a blanket, o what? I'm really curious so... ah well thanks anyways :)

Castiel Respuestas

Well Castiel is the ángel of Thursday, in much lore, but never specifically mentioned in the Bible, but as such I would assume it means my shield, my protector o something along the lines of that sort of thing.

And Gabriel is widely accepted as an Arch ángel that is well known in the Bible (he led the shepherds to Mary/Joseph and the baby Jesus). While the only ángel that is directly stated to be an Arch ángel is Michael, many people choose to believe because of the importance of the tasks dado to him that he held that high position as well...anyway I'm pretty sure that was the purpose of including him.

Raphael is also speculated to be an Arch Angel, mostly in Catholic lore because of the Book of Tobit, and in fact oddly enough Uriel is an Arch ángel in many Catholic versions as well because of the Book of Enoch (like Enochian)...so that's interesting that they chose not to make him one.

Anyway, that is probably way más than tu even wanted of an answer, but I thought it worth mentioning.

That's true. I saw Castiel's name was blue on wikipedia so I clicked it and Castiel turns out to be a Thursday ángel in the occult lore o something like that! :)

I think Misha's Castiel is based on the real Castiel :)

I think they chose a really obscure ángel name so that they could make him their own character without stepping on too much lore.

The ángel Castiel is actually never mentioned in the Bible. But Gabriel does mean messanger of God, which is why he was chosen to relay the message of the birth of jesús to the shepherds. I didn't know that Castiel also means ángel of solitude and tears, that's interesting.

castiel is the guardian of thursday, in occult lore, but cassiel is one of the guardians of saturday, along with machatan, and uriel. he is the ángel of solitudes and tears, he is one of the rulers of saturn, and is a ruling prince of the seventh heaven, hes also one of the princes of the order of powers, some know him as the ángel of temperance, hes known as cassiel mocoton, and his picture is of a bearded jinn, riding a dragon. he is NOT an arch ángel as some think, nether is catsiel, the differences i found were mostly in the spelling of the name and the día they guard, but alot of people think their the same ángel but their not, cassiel is a fairly well known angel, while castiel is known más from what people have heard on supernaturel ;). hope this helps alittle, info was found in "a dictionary of angels" por gustav davidson
