When the Chipmunks were created in 1958, they looked like real chipmunks. But when they got their first TV show, The Alvin Show, in 1961, that look was rejected in favor of a más anthropomorphic and friendly look- in other words, chipmunks that look like people. Then the Chipmunks made a comeback in 1979. But after a while, they were wanting to do some girl songs, but they couldn't really do that, considering the Chipmunks are boys and all. And then an idea hit- girl chipmunks! So around 1981, the Chipettes were created. And since the Chipmunks looked like people, the Chipettes would have to look like people, too. And they stayed that way for a long time- until 2007, when the Chipmunks made another comeback. Now that there was technology that allowed computer-animated characters to appear in live-action movies, the Chipmunks could be made to look más like... well, chipmunks. Same with the Chipettes in 2009. Oh boy, I really am a ardilla, chipmunk traducción, ardilla rayada nerd, aren't I? XD
