We\'ve always thought of Zayn Malik as a forward-thinkin\' little fella. And, yeah, he knows it. Yesterday he tweeted to let us all know that he\'s \'setting trends :)\' with a noughties-style smiley face. At least we assume he means *he\'s* the one setting trends, anyway.

So this got us a-thinkin\' - what we should probably do at this point is look back at all those times he was a proper PIONEER. All those times he threw caution to the wind and did his own thing. All those times el Maliko decided it was his way of the zighway. You ready to reminisce?

1. Before he decided it wasn\'t cool, boy bands danced.

Remember, like, *NSync and Backstreet Boys? Well they were all about those slick(ish), choreographed moves back in the day. Until Zayn (then Zain - he even made people wanna change their NAMES) came along and that was history. Finito. Officially uncool.

Then boy bands sort of just walked up and down the stage and wore banana costumes and stuff. Nothing was ever the same.
