I felt my body crash on something hard. Cheers erupted from all around me, and that was when I knew where I was.
"Ladies and gentlemen," announced the Joker's voice from the parte superior, arriba of the bridge. "The Nightfury!"
I saw my reflection on a car window. My costume was all ripped up, my face bloody from the crowbar. I was in handcuffs, probably Kryptonite-encrusted like the crowbar hooked to my belt.
Joker's cackling laugh ran through the bullhorn and into the sky. "Now who would be a good sport and tell me who she really is?"
"Tell us!" screamed a blonde woman.
Joker smiled. "Jeannette, why don't tu introduce yourself to the crowd?"
I groaned in pain. I wondered about what kept my body stuck to the car. I felt around with my hand, feeling a line tied around my waist. I struggled to get my eyes open, then gasped.
I was strapped to a car bomb.
Joker laughed. "Ah, so you've realized my plan, Thomas? In two minutes, if tu can't get that car bomb out of here, everyone withing a two mile radius will explode!"
"And you?" I shouted up at him. The buzzing of a helicopter's propellers answered my question. A ladder flew out of the heli, and Joker climbed it, laughing.
I wriggled around, trying to make the line rip, but instead I gave my skin a cut.
"Shit!" I cursed, ignoring the fact that children were here, too.
"She's gonna kill us all!" a man yelled. "We have to get out of here!"
"But we can't run two miles in two minutes!" squealed a rather plump woman. "Only the Flash can do that!"
más arguments sprouted, making me wish I had no ears.
Finally, when I couldn't take it anymore, I banged the car with my leg. "HEY!"
Everybody stopped shouting and looked at me with horrified eyes.
"I know tu guys are mad at me for what I did," I dicho loudly. "And I'm sorry, even though it wasn't entirely my fault. Now if tu WANT to get out of here ALIVE, you'll help me cut this damn line!"
They seemed to consider my statement, and a few people tried pulling it off of me.
"It won't budge!" dicho one man.
"Give me that metal rod over there," I told him. "Rub it against the line; it'll burn."
He did what I said, and the line loosened once it burned.
"Thanks," I thanked him, throwing the crowbar into the sea.
"We only have fifty segundos left!" exclaimed a woman. "How are tu going to get it out of here?"
I poked around the car, finding a stack of Kryptonite under the seat. If I didn't get this out of here in time, I would die, too.
I looked at the sky. There was only one way. I lifted the car, and flew toward the atmosphere. I knew I was going to die, but at least the people would be safe.
A few months ago, I would've chickened out and just let the bomb kill the people. But now, I realize the truth.
I could see a light approaching. I remembered how some people say "Don't look into the light!"
To hell with that, I told myself.

I closed my eyes and whispered a prayer.
