Luigi sighed as he walked into the door. He could only think of Yoshi, his green dinosaur friend, back there. He thought of how Valiente he was, to put himself in between him and Kamek’s shot. Not just brave, utterly selfless—sacrificing in the place of a friend had always been considered a core act of nobility. He wondered idly what would have happened if his pal hadn’t done that….
Luigi shook his head. No, that wouldn’t have happened, he argued with himself. Yoshi gave me this chance; he knew that I’d have to face Bowser, he knew that it would have to be me who would face him in the end.
The green plumber looked around. The place was mainly a familiar red and gray, with the torches and pillars. For some strange reason, it reminded him of the boss levels of every notable Super Mario game—where taking Bowser down would be as easy as getting around him and pushing the switch to drop him off at the lava…
He sighed. If only it could be as easy…
“Surprise, motherfucker.”
Luigi’s train of thought was cut off short when he heard the familiar deep (and smug) voice.
“Bowser…,” Luigi muttered, not bothering to look up. It was painfully obvious who it was, anyway. And besides—they had just defeated his right-hand man. Who else could he have possibly sent out?
“Funny—I would’ve thought I’d be expecting the cavalry tu oafs brought in with tu to deal with my minions. But I guess my underlings were too much for your ‘reinforcements’ to handle? Guess I shouldn’t be too shocked that I’d only have to deal with tu and your—Oh wait, that’s right!” Bowser threw his head back and guffawed. “Your steed’s back there, wussing out of a fight!”
Luigi seethed. As if the mean cracks and insults Kamek had for Yoshi weren’t enough…
“Let’s just a-get this over with, Bowser,” Luigi dicho through clenched teeth; he still hadn’t bothered looking up to see Bowser in the eye the entire time. “You took my brother and practically everyone in melocotón Castle, made Birdo and everyone else in Yoshi’s Island go all their way and fight for the sake of letting us get to tu and get your lazy culo kicked, and now tu even went so far as to force Yoshi out of the fight?” He could feel his hands, which he hadn’t noticed until now were clenched into fists, trembling. He struggled to stay in control; Yoshi had practically taught him to put it together back there when Kamek had gone insane.
“Well, that’s their decision, and frankly, I couldn’t give a million shits what it cost them.” Bowser’s tone was blunt, and uncaring. Part of Luigi wondered how he was able to still keep up with the conversation.
Luigi finally looked up. Bowser had his arms folded across his chest, his expression as smug as his tone earlier; he was only a few inches away from his throne, and a few feet away from him. The thin Mario brother gulped—after all they had been through, why did it suddenly feel as if everything happened so fast?
“Well…?” Bowser taunted, cracking his knuckles. “It’s just tu and me—let’s see who’ll get out of this with his culo whooped. Don’t be surprised, though, if it’s you.”
Luigi raised both his fists defensively, tensing. “Here we go,” he muttered.
It all happened too fast—almost as fast as it was back between Yoshi and Kamek when the latter tried to shoot the plumber.
Luigi felt the floor carpet, which he had been standing on, now beneath his body. He now saw the ceiling instead of Bowser and the end of the hall a while back. He wasn’t sure if the blow was meant to hurt—he had only been numb.
He struggled to get up, but then now he felt himself crash onto the muro behind him—all he saw was a blur of motion as he had been flung across the hall. Even that, too, he wondered if that was supposed to hurt—he had barely felt a thing. Was the numbness he had felt back with Yoshi slowly creeping to him?
Bowser stifled a yawn. “Gee, this gets boring. Now I’m surprised Kamek didn’t finish tu off. What had tu guys done that made my right-hand homeboy tick off and get all batshit insane with tu two? Right now I barely even have to try!”
The Koopa King grabbed Luigi por the shirt. “And I guess this is the end, then? Even if I let tu try to land a blow at me, it wouldn’t be much, so there’s no point anyway.” His expression continued to drip boredom. “I’d spare tu and throw tu off in the dungeon as well, but tu have become far too much of a nuisance for me to just let tu off like that.”
Luigi made a weak attempt to struggle out of Bowser’s grip, which the latter ignored.
“Your number is up, Green ‘Stache,” Bowser laughed boisterously. “I guess one flame would be enough to put tu out. Don’t worry—this will only hurt…a lot.”
The green plumber continued to kick and strain. He had to admit that it was virtually useless—there was nothing he could do that would free him from Bowser’s grip. Unless….He saw an opportunity to get away, but it wasn’t without the risk.
He saw the flame begin to ignite inside Bowser’s mouth. “Time to say goodbye, piece of shit.”
Luigi tried to oscilación back and forth, hoping he could reach it higher. He swung and swung…
All of a sudden Bowser felt in his mouth not the flames he had been about to spout out, but the soles of the green plumber’s shoes.
“What the fuck—?” Bowser growled in a muffled voice.
Bowser’s shock was just sufficient enough to release his grip on Luigi, dropping him free.
As Luigi quickly got up, Bowser spat out the dirt that had gotten into his mouth, courtesy of the former’s shoes.
“That’s what tu get for all the insults,” Luigi said.
Bowser looked mildly irritated. Wow, had he been taking anger management lessons now? Luigi thought, surprised the Koopa King’s temper hadn’t blazed like it would have.
Instead of a barrage of más swear words and profanity, he laughed, making Luigi jump in shock.
“So now I can somehow see why Kamek failed to take tu out,” he dicho in between howls of laughter. “Looks like child’s play is over for me, then.”
Then he looked at the plumber with an expression that suddenly made the latter wary.
“So tu want to face this battle to the end? Fine—let’s play it that way.”
And he strode closer to Luigi.

“Looks like I’ll have to deal with tu guys myself,” Kamek dicho in a sneering tone. Luigi and Yoshi could tell that he wasn’t going to try any of his tricks anytime soon.
“Tired of your games?” Luigi taunted, though he wasn’t sure if it really was a taunt. dado the way Kamek sneered and his abrupt shift of tone compared to when he’d summoned his shadow underlings, he wasn’t sure if his response to Bowser’s right-hand man—who, even Luigi himself has to admit, was a powerful magician in his own right—was a taunt o a bluff.
“Don’t worry—Lord Bowser won’t even...

Luigi looked around the room. Back and forth—twice, thrice and deliberately.
But it was still the same—King Boo was nowhere to be found.
“Come out, tu hell of a con artist!” Luigi seethed as he looked around. He felt ridiculous with the fact that the lack of response made him feel as if he were talking to himself, but it couldn’t be helped—King Boo was a total no-show at the moment.
“Now you’re going to chicken out of this fight, King Boo?” Yoshi dicho among the walls, pretty sure that even though he’d likely get no response at all, there was no doubt King Boo was listening...

“Huh?” Luigi frowned while flashing the lights on some approaching ghosts. “I think tu put it down when tu were mumbling all that giving up mumbo-jumbo.”
“I didn’t throw it, did I?” Yoshi asked desperately.
“Not that I remember. The only thing I saw—despite the fact it was pitch black, though when those imágenes were flashed it seemed to lighten up the room a bit—was that tu took it off and put it down. After that, I can’t recall if tu ever did anything else to it.”
“Looking for this?” King Boo laughed. The two looked up to see Yoshi’s Poltergust floating away...

“By the way, Luigi,” Yoshi asked after a while since they’d entered a creepy-looking guest room, “before I came and helped tu out with this whole ghost-busting thing, what was it like? tu know, being alone and all that?”
“Uh...” Luigi seemed reluctant to answer. “W-ell, I’d say if tu weren’t here, it would’ve been twice as hard as it just might a-be right now.”
“I don’t suppose tu fell for a couple of ghostly stuff más than twice when tu busted the ghosts solo?” Yoshi teased.
Luigi gave the green dinosaur a dirty look. “Very funny, Yoshi—very funny.”...

**This entire chapter will be about how Mario and company are doing back at Bowser's Castle. I made this, 'cause, well, tu might all be thinking I'd forgotten about them.**

In Bowser's Castle:
"Hurry up, captives," a Hammer Bro said, "it's time to your dinner!"
"I don't like this," Toadsworth muttered, "I wonder if what they're going to feed us is actually clean."
Mario, Princess Peach, Toadsworth, and the rest of the seta Kingdom castillo captives were in chains; only their hands were partially free to be able to get a tray and pick up their dinner. Princess melocotón looked at the mesa, tabla where...

"Well, um...," Luigi fidgeted, "something like a-that might take a lot of explaining to do..."
"Don't worry," Yoshi insisted. "I can handle the long explanation. Besides, it's not like Lakithunder will somehow emerge from the ashes and come back for us, right?"
Luigi gave Yoshi a look that clearly responded to the possibility of Lakithunder rising from the ashes like a phoenix.
Yoshi made a gesture with his fingers that prompted Luigi to explain.
"I'm listening, Luigi."
"A-well, um, tu see..." Luigi took a deep breath and exhaled heavily. "When we were back-to-back, all tensed up for Lakithunder's...

Luigi stopped cold at the voice—it was Yoshi's voice, and it sounded like it came somewhere behind the multitude of expectant Toads. But that wasn't really what made Luigi stop.
Because how could he have heard Yoshi's voice behind the Toads when he was just directly to his left?!
Luigi strained to follow where he'd heard the voice, and found Yoshi behind the Toads.
"I—I—" Luigi's head spun, confused; bewildered. "A-why are there two Yoshis?!"
He looked at the Yoshi who was directly to his left, who looked just as shocked as he was, and he had the black hump on his back that the green plumber...

Luigi groaned a few times, then he tried to open his eyes, but he couldn't have them move—his body was sluggish to respond.
"Wh-Where am I…?" he mumbled.
There was a light yet tomboyish voice calling on to him.
"Hey, Luigi…"
Luigi started; the voice sounded somehow familiar. "Who are you?" He strained his eyes to see a lady-like figure among the fluff of the clouds.
The figure made a giggling sound.
Luigi scratched the back of his head and made a disgruntled face. The giggle only leaned even closer to the person in Luigi's assumptions.
He cleared his throat and blinked hard before he dicho her...

Before anyone could even know it, the duo finally arrived in Yoshi's Island. It emerged from being a mere speckle among the waters to a mass of trees, mountains, and nature (which added más solid evidence to Luigi's theory).
As soon as the ship they were riding blew out its horn to depict the fact it was about to dock, Yoshi sighed with relief—as much as it made him happy being with Mario and the gang, there's no place like home.
"Luigi, we're almost there!" Yoshi called.
But Luigi didn't hear a thing Yoshi said—his face was buried in a waste basket; he was making moaning noises in it.
Yoshi...

Luigi and Yoshi were hidden inside the branches and leaves of one of the trees among melocotón Garden. It was a perfect spot for confidential talks; while the one inside could hear sounds from the outside, people outside could hardly ever hear what would be going on from the inside—that is, unless they would think of going near, in which they wouldn't even dream of doing. After all, why waste time listening closely to the sounds within a tree?
"Okay, Yoshi, tell me again why we're here, hidden in the treetop?" Luigi asked Yoshi critically.
"Because treetops are perfect for pep talks," Yoshi explained....
