X: Chapter 5
Matthew
I’m picking up Casey on Saturday and my corazón melts a little más when I see her. She’s got her hair curled, her makeup done lightly, and a pale rosado, rosa cabestro, halter dress on, and a white sweater to cover her shoulders.
“Wow, tu look amazing.” I mean it too.
“Thank you, is the sweater okay? I think I might have something else if I can’t have any white on.”
“It’s fine, my cousin won’t care a bit.”
“Okay, good. tu clean up nice.” She tells me well checking me out in my suit.
We talk some while we drive to the beach, but mostly we joke, and try to make it not awkward. She smiles through the whole playa ceremony, even I have to admit it’s a beautiful ceremony for my cousin Gina, and she looks lovely. I can’t say I saw much of the ceremony though, most of my time was spent watching Casey, never in my life have I wanted to hold a girl’s hand more. I tell myself it’s just teenage hormones, and she’s just the best girl I could get for a fecha at the time.
At the dinner, my mom is making a huge fuss over Casey, and she keeps thanking my Mom and is looking like she’s about to bolt for the exit.
“Casey, how about we take a walk?”
"Love too, I’ll talk to tu soon Miss.” She tells my Mom quickly and grabs my arm as we wander away, “Thank you!” She whispers to me.
“No problem,” I laugh, “My Mom can be kind of a handful. As tu just learned.”
“Whose parents aren’t?” She laughs with me.
“My little brother likes tu though.”
“How would tu know? He avoided me the whole night!”
“Exactly, that’s how he makes a good impression on someone he wants to impress, that way they don’t see the real him.”
“Oh yes, 4 año old logic.”
“Yeah, what about your family?”
“Well right now I’m living with my sister and our uncle. My Dad is overseas, and my Mom is on the road to self discovery o something. I haven’t heard from her in a couple months. It’s all a bit crazy.”
“Oh wow, I’m sorry. I really am. tu must be worried like crazy about both of them.”
“It sounds bad, but mainly only about my Dad. My mom disappeared and didn’t look back, its normal for her to disappear off the face of the earth for a bit.”
Wow. I don’t even know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything.”
“Right, well its getting kind of late, maybe I should get tu home?”
“Probably.”

We’re pulling up to her house, and I can see Annabelle, this totally hot senior peeking out from the curtains in their house.
“I can’t believe you’re related to Annabelle. tu guys are so different.”
“Yes I know, she’s so much prettier than I am. Yeah, yeah, I get it.” She purses her lips, looking a bit irritated.
“Well no, I mean personality wise. You’re both pretty, just in different ways. tu look especially beautiful tonight, and in this moonlight.” Then she smiles, sweet and shy. I smile back, that compliment was a bit over the top, but if I had an older sibling that I lived in the shadows of, I would want someone to notice me too.

Casey
Ever since Matthew’s cousin’s wedding, I haven’t been able to get him out of my head. Was that a date? I’m not sure at all.
School has been crazy. I have study hall same period with Matthew tomorrow. I’m dying to know what’s going to happen.
Matthew
Casey. Casey. Casey. Taco. Casey. Casey. Need to do homework. Casey. Casey. I can’t get her out of my head.
have study hall tomorrow, I wonder what will happen. Will she go all crazy stalker and think we’re an item? Will she ignore me? Either possibility seems awful.
Casey
I’m scanning all the tables until I spot his. Should I sit with him? Why does it matter? I was just his back up fecha anyway.
Matthew
She’s sitting across the library? Ignoring me. Well we can’t have that.
“Hey Casey, can I sit here?”
“Sure.” She smiles tentatively up at me.
I think we talk the entire period, and I’m shocked to hear the campana go off.
X : Chapter 8
Casey
It’s been months. Months since we went to the wedding, months of nonstop talking. He still hasn’t asked me out. I guess he isn’t going to and that’s just fine with me. I’m moving on. Just friends. Okay I can totally face him in study hall now. Deep breaths. I can’t believe I had a crush on the high school corazón throb, just like some girl in one of those movies. I’m totally lost in my head and not paying any attention to my surroundings.
Crash.
“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! I wasn’t paying attention!” I look up into a beautiful face.
“It’s okay, maybe it was a good thing.” He smiles at me.
“I’m Casey.” I smile back.
“Carl.”
“Well it’s nice to meet you.”
“You as well, say how about a fecha Friday?”
“I’d really like that.” A date, A date, A date! I’m totally giddy.
The campana rings, and I can’t help but smiling the whole way to class.
Matthew
“You have a fecha with Carl?”
“Yeah!”
“What?”
“We’re going bowling!”
“Fun.”
“Jealous?” Did she just ask me if I’m jealous of my friend going on a date. Yeah right.
“No. Go have a blast.”
“You sound really sarcastic.”
“Look I just don’t think it’s a good idea Case.”
“Why not?” She’s getting irritated now.
“I’ve heard things. About him being a real jerk. I don’t think tu should go.”
“Whatever Matthew.” I don’t know what to say and she’s staring at the book in front of her intently, ignoring me.
“We still on for the playa tonight Casey?”
“Fine, sure, whatever.” She mutters as she walks away.

I’m losing her fast. I can tell that sooner o later she’s not going to want to be friends with me, and that stings. I can’t imagine my life without her, a few months of talking to her, and I’m hooked, What is wrong with me? I’m walking down the playa when I finally spot her up ahead. I wave.
Casey
He actually showed to our playa thing. I was starting to think he wouldn’t after what happened earlier. I’m still not sure what actually happened but something did, he’s standing in front of me and I look into his eyes and he smiles at me.
Matthew
Her eyes hypnotize me, and I’m completely hooked on her smile. Who knew she’d be the girl I would fall for? I’ve fallen completely in amor with her. It’s hard to imagine her in someone else’s arms. I’m admitting to myself now, that I’m in amor with Casey, and that I’m extremely jealous of Carl. I tell myself its just the ocean breeze just getting to my head.
Casey
I amor how golden his hair is, I amor how I could just spend forever in his eyes, I think I could even amor him? He’s beautiful and travels in a completely different social circle, and yet he’s standing here becoming the light of my life. I’m trying to envolver, abrigo my head around it all. I can’t. There's obviously something diluting my feelings
