“I’d love for Trump to go to Westworld and meet Maeve. Try grabbing her p—y, Donald. Love, Thandie,” wrote Newton, mentioning her tough character and referring to Trump’s graphic comments in a 2005
video that was released in October. (Trump later faced several sexual misconduct allegations from multiple women, but has denied any wrongdoing.)
Newton shared the following photo of the message on her verified Twitter account:
Newton recently revealed that she was sexually harassed by a director during an audition and is dedicated to fighting misogyny. “My life’s work is trying to be part of the solution in terms of the violence against women and girls, and gender inequality,” she told EW in October, explaining that she was drawn to
because she thought it was very progressive in its attempts to subvert sexual violence toward women on TV. “Everyday that I was on the set, I felt like a women’s right activist.”
On the HBO drama, Westworld is a Wild West-set amusement park populated with human-like androids, to whom humans can basically do whatever they want. The show hasn’t strayed away from depicting the depravity that humans are capable of. While some of the hosts are there to indulge the guests, the same can’t be said of Maeve, who recently became aware that she was an android and forced two of the park’s attendants to increase her intelligence to the highest level possible, meaning she’s no one’s puppet anymore.
