Tumblr Artist Shows What Animated Women Look Like With 'Realistic' Faces
It’s not surprising that the women in animated movies have exaggerated – some would say cartoonish – features. However, in the past few years the 3D animated features of Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, and other studios have made their women more exaggerated than ever, with gigantic eyes, minuscule noses, and round, baby-like heads. Tumblr’s TheNamelessDoll decided to use her Photoshop, After Effects, and compositing skills to see what some of these animated women would look like with more “realistic” proportions. In case people interpreted these as a “slam” against the original art, she had this to say.
These edits were created simply to give me a chance to practice my manipulation/anatomy skills. Nothing more, nothing less. They are NOT meant to be “better than the original” or “what it should have looked like”, or serve as a general negative critic on the respective movies’ animation styles!
There’s a few examples of her work down below, but if you want to see more of her edits, or are just looking for a good blog to follow, check out TheNamelessDoll on tumblr.
What do you think? Are animated women these days too exaggerated? Do you like the original animation styles better? Let me know on twitter @carpetislava, or in the comments down below!
