Awww Oh, Snap! Quiz Retro Silly Whoa Yum

For us, one of the most important things about visiting Walt Disney World is the food. Why? Because a) it’s the best, most magical food on the planet and b) we love food. Combine those two things together, and you’ve got a recipe that makes our tummies very happy. And because we love Walt Disney World food so much, we decided to chronicle all the things that made it onto our plates when we were visiting for the Coolest Summer Ever. Before we begin, we must tell you that the below chronicles the eats of two editors over twenty-four hours and that were staying at the wonderful Animal Kingdom Lodge. Make of that information what you will.

Red Wine-braised Beef Short Ribs from Citricos

Citricos is one of our favorite signature restaurants in Walt Disney World. Every time Disney Style editor Nicole is there, she always gets the beef short ribs. It melts in your mouth, and falls apart so beautifully, you almost want to lick the plate clean (but don’t, because this is a nice restaurant).

Seared Whitefish with Spring Pea Risotto and Fried Zucchini Blossom from Citricos

Oh My Disney editor Rachel has many a dietary restriction so the chef created this delicious dish just for her, and like Nicole, she had to refrain from licking the dang plate. Just for context, our plane landed, we checked in to our hotel and then we went DIRECTLY to Citricos. We have priorities, people.

We decided to pass on dessert this time (although we highly recommend the lemon-scented cheesecake), but then our waiter brought us the cutest little ice cream cones! Can you spot the not-so-hidden mickey?

Mickey Mouse Waffles should be enjoyed by all, which is why we love the fact that you can get regular and allergen free Mickey Mouse Waffles for breakfast! Both delicious, both magical.

We had lunch at the new Disney Springs’ restaurant The Boathouse and ate ALL THE SHRIMP.

We’ve actually never had soft shell crab before, so it was fun trying something new at The Boathouse! Salty, crispy, and super fun to eat!

Yes, the mountainous dessert is a thing of beauty. Rocky road ice cream, marshmallow outside, and loads and loads of chocolate sauce? Yes, please. Maybe the best part is wtaching your waiter attempt to cut into this behemoth. (Who are we kidding, the ice cream/marshmallow/chocolate sauce is the best part.)

Olaf Cupcakes from Disney’s Hollywood Studios

At our Coolest Summer Ever party, we had to partake in this tray of adorable blue velvet Olaf cupcakes.

We needed something light for dinner after the cupcakes and baked Alaska. One of our favorite meals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is the vegetable flatbread from The Mara. It has portobello mushrooms, zucchini, roasted red peppers, and caramelized onions, so it totally meets your veggie requirement and is delicious.

If you’re going to eat pretzels for dinner because you’re (tragically) still full from lunch, they might as well have Mickey’s face on them. That’s our life motto and we stick by it.

No trip to Walt Disney World is complete without these little beauties. Zebra domes are round slices of heaven delivered from the Disney chefs and served to you at Boma or The Mara at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. If you’ve never had one, do yourself a favor and go eat these chocolate, creamy dollops of goodness.

While there is SO MUCH more delicious food we wanted to eat, sadly our trip was over. Don’t worry, this story has a happy ending–we’re already planning where to eat next time we visit!
