I need help from anyone who plays Elder Scrolls

So, I just bought Elder Scrolls: Morrowind for XBox original, but I can not make it past the tutorial doe to a glitch saying I am robbing from a guard when I am clearly pressing A to talk like the instructions said. Is this a glitch? If so, how can I fix it. Please help
