As a teenager, I used to be ignorant of all of what Affirmative Action is and does and where it came from and why it was still necessary.

As a young white girl, I even thought it was racist.

But now I'm woke. And I know better.

As a multi-ethnic female (of Native American, Filipino, Japanese, British, Polish, Spanish, Mexican, Polynesian, etc. descent), I think it is racist/sexist/prejudicial and takes away from the merit of the individuals who partake because their credibility is reduced to "affirmative action placement" rather than "hard work and earning it".

In addition, affirmative action discredits and devalues the progress of many minority groups, endorsing harmful stereotypes rather than breaking them.

Furthermore, I think some areas would be hazardous when it comes to affirmative action such as neurosurgeons or airline pilots etc. When our safety is in danger, no one brings up affirmative action and giving everyone an equal shot at trying to find a solution; We look for the best person for the job.

I think we should make sure that no one is ever excluded based on race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. but it's wrong to include them based on such superficial reasons.

I can actually see both sides on this issue. It's good to help minorities, but at the same time, there are people who want an education, and they're being neglected as a result.
