What are your thoughts on Ian in the movie?

I personally thought the character of Ian in the movie was a little underdeveloped. He fell in amor with Wanda abruptly like a creepy stalker. The O'Wanda relationship in the book took a lot of time to develop and grow into romance. But in the movie, they just fell in amor all at once. I just thought it was kinda weird. Did anybody else feel this way as well?

It was a 600+ page book made into a 125 minuto movie. Everything seemed to mover too fast, especially because much of the book involved thoughts and not actions. There's only so much they could do without leaving out important scenes.

Yes, I think everybody feels like the movie was too fast-paced and skipped over several scenes. However, I still think Andrew Niccol could've done a better job with the whole thing. Not just the O'Wanda relationship, but the whole movie in general. But I can't hate on him too much, because it is a difficult task to narrow a 600 paged book into a two-hour-long movie.

I completely agree and not. Not because if tu can get passed the fact that they're gonna make a 600+ page book into a short-amount-of-time film(compared to the time it takes to read it), tu will see that it's not a bad film at all.(Not saying tu thought it was bad :D) BUT ..I absolutely fell in amor with Ian in the movie. Jake Abel matched the character so well and he definitely took the spotlight away from Jared(Max Irons), for me anyways. I totally agree on everything tu said, but like I dicho if tu can get passed that fact. =) I think it helps not to compare so much. Twilight definitely helped me with that issue.haha

Yes, I guess that is true. tu have a 600-paged book and tu have to shrink it down to a 200-paged movie script. Obviously there's going to be a ton of things that get cut from the book, and there's not going to be enough room for certain characters (like Ian) to develop.

But once tu get past that fact, I guess the O'Wanda relationship isn't all that bad. I totally agree with Jake Abel as Ian, so I don't have a problem with the actor, but I do wish they would've focused a little más on his character. But even so...I'm still Team Ian ;)

And they could have focused it más on them too. It was a pretty long movie too. I feel like they could've shown us so many things from the book, including their relationship.

I totally totally agree with tu for Jake Abel. I seriously fell in amor with Ian the way he portrayed him. I melted every time he was onscreen, just as I did whenever Ian showed up in the book. He totally too the spotlight away! Well done and standing "O" to Jake Abel as Ian :)

To be certain I really amor his and Wanda's relationship but never taught that it'll turns up to be quite quirky in the movie not to mention that Ian almost looked like a stalker and was easily captivated por Wanda... o so like that?

I feel the same way! It seems like Wanda just got to the caves and like a segundo later, they confess they like each other. Ian also has a lot of good frases in the book that they didn't incorporate in the movie, like "I held tu in my hand, Wanderer, and tu were so beautiful" and "good o bad?" They could've at least added "good o bad"

Well i wasnt obbsessed with Ian at all i thought he was like weird just a bit. I mean i read the whole book and one moment he was trying to kill Wanda/Mel and the siguiente moment he was all googley eyed and head of heels for Wanda. I was like Wth? I was más forcused on Jared & Melanie's thoughts and feelings.

I totally agree, everything in the movie was so very abrupt and sudden that tu sort of miss the emotional reaction tu get from the book. Me, I think the movie was a total bust. And very disappointing.
