It has been six years since the last "Chronicles of Narnia" movie, and about three years since David Magee was said to be working on a script for "The Silver Chair." Now, Deadline reports, Sony\'s TriStar Pictures has joined The Mark Gordon Company, The C.S. Lewis Company, and Entertainment One to
So Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell better clear themselves another lazy Sunday: The Chronic-
Deadline presented the new collaboration as "the second live action iteration of the literary classic" after the previous films, "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" (2005) and "Prince Caspian" (2008) from Disney, and "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" (2010) from Fox 2000.
That sounds like a full reboot and, in January, producer Mark Gordon had told Collider the franchise was indeed getting a reboot starting with the fourth book, "The Silver Chair." The story follows Eustace Scrubb\'s return to Narnia, along with his classmate Jill Pole, tasked by Aslan to find the missing Prince Rilian, son and heir of the now old King Caspian. "It\'s all going to be a brand new franchise," Gordon said. "All original. All original characters, different directors, and an entire new team that this is coming from."
Now TriStar is leading the team, although no director or cast members have been announced yet. (Will Poulter played Eustace in "Dawn Treader," with Liam Neeson voicing Aslan.)
TriStar head Hannah Minghella said, in a statement, "Reading \'The Chronicles of Narnia\' was one of the formative experiences of my childhood, just as it has been for children around the world for generations. To have the opportunity to bring new life to the Narnia films with a new creative team is a career highlight."
Back in 2013, when it was revealed he was writing the new script, David Magee said, "I have always loved \'The Chronicles of Narnia,\' and I endlessly imagined myself finding my own passage into Narnia someday. All these years later, I\'m getting to fulfill that wish just a little bit by writing the film adaptation of \'The Silver Chair\' and could not be more excited about it."
