It depends but I'll go with this one since pessimistic people can really bug the shit out of me.

But if a pessimistic character is well-written, I can totally go for it! Plus I think their is something kinda entertaining in pessimistic characters

Hmmn.. I'm not sure.

But my 2 favorite characters (Buffy and Brooke Davis) both start off their series really cheery and happy and later in their series turn darker, distant, and more closed off. But I wouldn't really say they were ever optimists... they were just cheerful.

Agrees with the realist thing above but I'll say pessimistic because one of the few times I can think of where my favorite character was being optimistic is when he was trying to keep his partner from feeling bad about having to fire him.

It's more realistic. I hate overly perky people in real life, and I don't like watching them on tv.
