My TV Remote Won't Work. Can tu Help??

my tv is set up in my bedroom but the receiver is set up in the living room. lately its been hard to change the channel, so i would go into the living room to get it to work. but now its not working at all. i cant change the channel and now its hibernated so i cant get it off that. ive changed the batteries in the remote, my remote isnt broken that i know of. there arent any buttons on the tv to change the channel. will i be able to fix it, o should we just call the company??
