‘Supernatural’ Is Introducing A Not-So-Imaginary Character On Season 11 

Personally, I love the “Supernatural” episodes that delve into Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester’s childhood. Over the past ten years, we’ve seen several episodes of young Sam and Dean, including the time Sam took on the school bully, and the time Dean remembered staying at Sonny’s Home for Boys. Plus, there was that Christmas episode, which was simultaneously heartwarming and gut-wrenching.

The point being, “Supernatural” enjoys providing origin stories for the Winchesters, and that’s why this news is so exciting! On Friday,

announced that an episode for the CW show’s upcoming 11th season will focus on Sam’s imaginary friend. Two important facts come from this info:

1. Sam had an imaginary friend in the first place. 2. His imaginary friend wasn’t so imaginary.

, Sam’s imaginary friend is named Sully and will be played by Nate Torrence. Episode 1108, titled “Just My Imagination,” centers around Sully coming to Sam and Dean for help. Help for what? We’re not sure yet — but it can’t be good.

, Sam spent a lot of his childhood waiting for Dean and John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to return from a hunt. Naturally, Sam would get super lonely, so he created an imaginary friend to keep him company while his family was away. But, surprise! Sully is real and in the flesh.

On another interesting note, Richard Speight Jr. — who played angel Gabirel (aka The Trickster) on several seasons of SPN — will be directing the episode. Looks like the cast is showing their new director no mercy, based on this funny tweet Ackles shared on Friday (Sept. 25), to which Speight Jr. responded, “Gulp.”

Needless to say, we’re having a hard time waiting for the Season 11 premiere on Oct. 7. Guess we’ll just have to binge-watch old episodes until then.
