Admiral Yularen wished them luck as they boarded the TWILIGHT and a gunship that the troopers called "GRIEVOUS' WORST NIGHTMARE" because they had inflicted massive damage to Grievous' personal ship SOULESS ONE on a anterior mission. A primitive rendition of the cyborg general graced the ship's nose. In the artwork Grievous is getting a blaster bolt to his backside.
The TWILIGHT and the 'NIGHTMARE flew towards the planet the two ships reacting to the storms over the planet.
"Shields up!" Anakin called out to them.
Master Sinube hung on and closed his eyes. It had been many years since he had been on a ship. His stomach was doing cartwheels.
You're not going to be sick, are you?" Anakin asked looking out the TWILIGHT's viewport. The little freighter was shaking badly. Sinube just shook his head and smiled.
Ahsoka patted the console in front of her.
"Hold together," she whispered.
"Captain Rex, how are tu boys holding up?" Anakin asked feeling his own stomach lurch. Ashoka was a little pale herself.
"We're getting shook up pretty bad, sir," Rex answered, "but we're hanging in there. I can't say the same thing for our stomachs."
Anakin grinned feeling just as nauseous as the troopers.
"Hang in there, Rex, we should be through the atmosphere any moment."
"Master, we've cleared the upper atmosphere," Ahsoka dicho adjusting the controls at her console.
"Okay, Snips," Anakin answered and beheld a sight that chilled him to the core of his being.
What they saw before them looked like a warzone. A warzone after an orbital bombarment from some strong weapons. Not one building was left intact.
Master Sinube shut his eyes and moved up to where Ahsoka sat in the co-pilot's seat. The Togrutan girl was shaking and he felt her resolve start to crack. He glanced over at Anakin and saw the young Jedi shaking just as much. His eyes were shut but he saw tears trickling down his cheeks.
"Children, we knew we would see this. Shut your feelings off to the destruction. Put up a Force barrier. That's it..."
He glanced over and saw his young friends getting their emotions under control.
"We have to be strong. Keep the barrier up," Master Sinube dicho seeing the struggle Ahsoka was having keeping back the despair. Anakin looked más angry than sad but Sinube sensed deep inside that Anakin was crying.
"General Skywalker, I have the coordinates for our landing," Rex dicho his voice reflecting the sadness he felt at the sight of the destruction. He looked over at Coric, Billy D, Eagle, Raven and Finch. The five troopers seemed to be on the verge of tears, especially Billy D.
"Thanks, Rex," Anakin answered his voice husky with emotion. He gripped the controls. took a deep breath and guided the TWILIGHT to the surface.
