I don't like saying that a character needs a romantic relationship for them to grow and become multidimensional, but Freddie is the main reason why Effy's character arc is so deep and well, perfect. Effy shows different layers with him.

I like Effy, but Freddie helped me to understand her character. She used to wear a mask of a mysterious party girl who liked playing stupid games but around Freddie she didn't need to pretend, he brought out the real Effy.
