Do tu think Sev would have been as attracted to Lily if there had been other wizard children around?
I think his attraction to her was based on his observations of her magickal skills. That must have been a revelation to someone stuck in a muggle environment; I can't see him tolerating muggle kids too well.
Her doing magic is what caught his attention. Her personality is what he fell for. And her personality wouldn't have changed had there been other wizards around.
Also, like BlackHound (and the books) point out: Severus didn't fit in too well with other wizards. Even amongst the death eaters -- there were many that didn't trust o like him. There being other wizards in the area wouldn't have changed that either.
I think Lily slipped past Severus' inborn and developed defenses.
It wasn't because she was magical, per se. It was más that he was in a position to introduce Lily to a world he was already part of and knowledgeable about. It put him in a position of power and made him feel seguro talking to her.
Then, they kept talking, and so he let her get closer than anyone else.
When they went to Hogwarts, they were surrounded por magical children, but he became reserved from all the children, except for Lily.
Coming from the childhood it was intimated that he had, most children are withdrawn, self-protective, and less trusting. But, because of the way Lily and Severus met, it allowed that friendship to begin.
I'm quite sure, as an adolscent boy, that Severus probably looked at other girls, but only had one he really trusted to let that close to him, and that would have been Lily.
